Chinese troops stop Indian cattle-herders on Indian side of LAC in Ladakh

In a fresh incident of Chinese aggression, Chinese troops reportedly stopped Indian cattle-herders from grazing their cattle in Demchok area of Ladakh. The incident occurred on 21 August 2022, according to sources quoted by news agency PTI.

The herders were on the Indian side of the disputed border called the Line of Actual Control (LAC). However, Chinese soldiers accused the graziers of being on the Chinese side, and stopped them from moving ahead.

The incident was subsequently discussed by area commanders of the Indian and Chinese armies. Government sources cited "differing perceptions about LAC" for such incidents.

India and China are currently engaged in a stand-off which began with the PLA's aggressive manoeuvres in Ladakh in 2020. 16 rounds of military talks have been held to defuse the situation so far.
