Delhi Services Bill: Arvind Kejriwal targets BJP, Centre again

Lashing out at the Modi govt over Delhi Services Bill once again, Kejriwal said BJP will lose all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi in the 2024 polls.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday attacked the BJP-led Centre, saying the ordinance on services matter was brought as money power and the threat of the ED and the CBI failed in Delhi.
In a speech in the Assembly, he also claimed that the BJP has brought the 'Sanghi' model of democracy through the Services Bill while asserting that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be fought on the issue of full statehood for the national capital.
Kejriwal alleged that the &ldquo;democratic rights of the people of Delhi were trampled through the ordinance and the bill&rdquo;.
&ldquo;There are several styles of democratic systems like the Westminster style and parliamentary style. These people (BJP) have brought the Sanghi style of democracy through this bill,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;The ordinance on services matter was brought because money power and the threat of the ED and the CBI had failed in Delhi,&rdquo; he added.
Kejriwal also claimed that recently, someone from BJP had threatened him, saying, &ldquo;We will make you bow down&rdquo;.
&ldquo;But I want to tell them that no power can make Kejriwal and the two crore people of Delhi bow down,&rdquo; he said.
The AAP national convener said that the BJP will lose all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi in the 2024 polls.

Delhi Services Bill that was cleared in Rajya Sabha in the recently concluded Parliament's Monsoon session has now become law after President Murmu signed off the bill.&nbsp;
The Bill faced massive resistance from the Opposition alliance INDIA. The law gives more power to the LG on the appointment and transfer of bureaucrats in the national capital.

Apart from the Delhi Services Bill, the President also gave her assent to other 3 bills cleared in the upper house which include the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill and the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill.&nbsp;

Delhi Services Bill cleared in Rajya Sabha

Centre's controversial Bill, the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill 2023 was cleared in Rajya Sabha on Monday night. With this the Bill completed the parliamentary process.
The Delhi services bill got&nbsp; support of 131 MPs in Rajya Sabha, 102 members oppose it.
The Bill will now be go to the President for assent.
The voting in the house was done on paper slips after machines in the house suffered technical&nbsp; glitch.
The ruling party in Delhi had opposed the Bill brought in by Centre which gives more power to LG and the Centre over appointment and transfer of bureaucrats in the national capital

Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party have issued a three-line whip for its MPs, urging them to be present in the Rajya Sabha on Monday as Delhi Services Bill is likely to be taken up in the Upper House.
The Rajya Sabha on August 4 was adjourned for the day amid a ruckus created by both the Opposition party members as well as the treasury benches. Govt and leaders of Opposition parties are up in arms against the Bill that was cleared in Lok Sabha by voice vote amid ruckus.
Congress has extended its support to AAP for its fight against the Delhi Services Bill brought in by the Centre.
Several INDIA bloc parties have also vowed their support to AAP against Centre's Bill
