While authorities at IIT Bombay have said there was no discrimination on the campus, Darshan Solanki's family claimed he was ostracised by friends.

The family of the 18-year-old IIT Bombay student who died allegedly by suicide has claimed that he was discriminated against on the basis of caste on the campus.
Some of his friends stopped talking to him when they learnt that Darshan Solanki was a Dalit, NDTV reported quoting Solanki's sister.
The IIT Bombay however has rejected charges of caste bias in the institute.
Solanki, a first year student of BTech (Chemical) died allegedly after jumping off the seventh floor of a hostel building on the Powai campus of the premier institute on 12 February.&nbsp;
The Ambedkar Periyar Phule Study Circle, a student group, had called Solanki's death an &ldquo;institutional murder&rdquo;.
However, the institute on Tuesday said it takes utmost precautions to make the campus as inclusive as possible and it has zero tolerance for any discrimination by faculty.

Police have arrested seven persons after a minor Dalit girl was allegedly told not to attend school by a group of local residents on the ground that other girls, too, were not studying in a village here in Madhya Pradesh, an official said on Tuesday.
A clash between members of two families -- the girl's and those of the arrested accused - erupted following the alleged incident in Bawaliyakhedi village, leaving some people injured, the police said.
Kotwali Police Station in-charge Avdhesh Kumar Shesha, while quoting a complaint, said the incident occurred when a 16-year-old girl of the Scheduled Caste community was going home after attending local school on Saturday afternoon.
Some persons allegedly accosted and snatched the girl's school bag and told her not to attend school as other girls of the village were not doing so, he said.
Later, a clash erupted between the girl's family and relatives of the accused, he said.
Following the complaint, the police arrested seven people on Monday under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and also the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, he said.
A cross-complaint by the other side, alleging assault, was also registered against the girl's brother and three others, the police officer said.
Shesha said those injured in the clash were being treated in the district hospital, but did not give their exact number.
The girl issued a video in which she alleged the accused snatched her school bag and objected to her attending classes.
She alleged the accused assaulted her brother when he objected to their comments and also beat up other family members.

Eight youths were arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli for their alleged involvement in a video that went viral in which they can be seen assaulting, humiliating a Dalit teen. The youth was made to lick the feet of one of his assaulters.
In the video, the assaulters can be heard threatening the Dalit teen and using casteist slur. The victim also sustained injuries after being assaulted with belts. 
An FIR for was registered after the teenager, a student of class 10, made a complaint to the police after the video went viral on Sunday. The incident took place on April 10.  
The FIR has also invokes the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.  
The victim told the Indian Express that he was taken to a secluded spot by one of the eight where they proceeded to humiliate and assault him. After assaulting him, the accused persons left him on the spot, where he was later rescued from by some others. 
All eight accused have been arrested, the SHO of the local police station said. The police say that it was a case of enmity between the boys, while the teenager told the Indian Express that he didn’t know them.  
Some of the accused are minors and appropriate action will be taken against them, the police said.
