Under fire over his controversial remarks that all who converted to other faiths should be brought back to Hinduism, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya has withdrawn his statement.
The MP from Bengaluru South had sparked controversy after he said that the only way to save Hinduism is to reconvert Muslims and Christians.
He further said that all temples and Hindu religious places should set themselves yearly targets of bringing people back to what he called their 'mother religion'. 
'Either by force or fraud, the Hindu has been taken away from his mother religion. There is only one solution to address this anomaly, those people who have left their mother religion and have, for various socio-political, economic reasons over the course of India's history, gone out of the Hindu fold must be brought back. They must have brought back to the mother faith,' the BJP Yuva Morcha chief said. 
Surya was speaking on 'Hindu Revival' at the Sri Krishna Mutt in Karnataka's Udupi. 
The MP on Monday tweeted that his statement has "regretably created an unavoidable controversy". He added that he is "unconditionally withdrawing" his statement.

A mob of Bajrang Dal activists attacked a missionary school in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha on Monday alleging religious conversion. The right-wing goons pelted stones and vandalised the school property claiming that eight students were converted to Christianity by the school authorities.
The Saint Joseph School administration has refuted the charge.
The violence took place while the students of Class 12 were sitting for a mathematics exam.

Police have registered a case of rioting against unidentified persons. The accused are being identified and further legal steps will be taken accordingly, police said.
The school management said that after getting the information about the protest through the media, the local administration was intimated in advance about the possible disturbance. The school accused the police of not making proper security arrangements.

Bhagwat, who was speaking at an event in Chhattisgarh, said moving forward together with coordination was necessary to make India a Vishwa guru. "We don't have to convert anyone but teach how to live. We were born in the land of Bharat to give such a lesson to the whole world. Our sect makes good human beings without changing anyone's worship system," the RSS chief said.
The RSS chief is in Chhattisgarh to attend a series of programmes by the members of the organisation.
"Anyone trying to disturb the tune will be fixed by the rhythm of the country. We need is to move forward together with coordination in order to make India a Vishwa guru," he added.
