Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday said that due to the strenuous efforts of the state government all the Tehsils and Sub-Tehsils complex across Punjab are heading towards becoming corruption free.
Addressing the gathering after dedicating the newly constructed Tehsil complex here today, the Chief Minister said that when the state government had assumed charge Revenue officers used to think that they have the divine right to loot people through corruption. He said that they used to harass the general public even for the petty works and threatened to disrupt the work if any action was taken against them.
However, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government had come into power by giving corruption free administration due to which the state government launched a major crackdown against it.
The Chief Minister said that the result is that all the Tehsils and Sub-Tehsils complexes across Punjab are heading towards becoming corruption free. He said that the Revenue officers used to harass the common man on pretext of mass leaves or strikes but the state government has not bowed before these corrupt officers. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the AAP government has zero tolerance against corruption and the blackmailing of these officers was not tolerated and severe action has been taken against these corrupt and haughty officers.
The Chief Minister said that the protests of these officers were dealt with a heavy hand as they wanted license for corruption, which cannot be allowed at any cost. &nbsp;Bhagwant Singh Mann said that now these corrupt Tehsildars have been transferred from one post to another to break the entire chain of corruption. He, while equating corruption with fatal disease of cancer, said that stern action is the only form of &nbsp;Chemotherapy which can remove this cancer.
The Chief Minister said that to check corruption the state government has introduced Easy registration of land deeds which promotes self-reliance, reduces dependency on private deed writers, and empowers citizens to handle their transactions independently. He highlighted that people no longer need to visit banks for payments, as the online consolidated payment gateway allows for all required fees&mdash;including stamp duty and registration fees&mdash;to be paid in a single digital transaction. This eliminates the need for demand drafts or cash handling, addressing both convenience and security concerns, added Bhagwant Singh Mann.
The Chief Minister further said that Aam Aadmi Party is a result of the anti-corruption campaign due to which they had made concerted efforts to make Punjab free from corruption. He said that from day one after assuming charge of his office they had adopted a zero tolerance policy against corruption. Seeking fulsome cooperation and wholehearted support of Punjabis for this noble cause, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is imperative to make this drive a huge success in coming times too.
Making a scathing attack on the royal family of Patiala, the Chief Minister said that the region around Patiala lagged behind in the process of development due to vested interests and greed of the successive rulers. He said that those in power decorated their own palaces at the cost of dilapidation of the city adding that it is ironic that the &lsquo;Maharajas&rsquo; in power were more concerned about their own development rather than that of the city. Bhagwant Mann bemoaned that the rulers of Punjab, who hailed from Patiala remained callous about the development of the city.
The Chief Minister said that traditional political parties are envious of him because they are not able to digest that the son of a common man is governing the state effectively. He said that the people of the state have lost their faith in the traditional political parties because of their anti-people and anti-Punjab stance. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the wise and brave people of the state had ousted these parties during the 2022 assembly polls and gave a thumping majority to the AAP.
The Chief Minister said that the state has been witnessing spectacular development as the people of the state have elected an honest government which is delivering the desired results to the people. He said that earlier the choice of lesser evil was there and the people had to elect corrupt and opportunist leaders which were their only option. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state has heralded a new era of the smooth and hassle free delivery of citizen centric services for the common man.
The Chief Minister reiterated that Akali leaders have reduced the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) to a mere &ldquo;Shiromani Golak Prabandhak Committee&rdquo; out of their greed for money. He alleged that the Badals misused their political power to interfere in religious affairs, including manipulating the appointment of Jathedars of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to suit their personal interests. He claimed that the Akalis, driven by financial motives, have degraded the sanctity of the SGPC and misused both it and Sri Akal Takht Sahib for narrow political gains.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister also exhorted the women to come forward and participate in politics for becoming an active partner in the decision making policy mechanism and to bring the necessary and much needed change in society. He said that these days girls have outnumbered boys in every other field but Politics is still an exception to it adding that the field of politics had been hitherto considered as fiefdom of the men but now the time has come when the women must excel in this field too. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that women&rsquo;s participation in this field is imperative to carve out an egalitarian society and in the larger interest of society and state.
The Chief Minister said that it is a moment of immense pride and satisfaction that more than 54000 jobs have been provided to the youth of the state. He said that all the jobs have been given completely on the basis of merit, without any corruption or nepotism. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this is making the youth an active partner in socio economic development of Punjab.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday exhorted the newly selected candidates of Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) to lead by example and become the brand ambassadors of the rich culture and heritage of the state across the country.
Interacting with 26 newly selected candidates here at his official residence today, the Chief Minister congratulated the candidates for their resounding success, which he attributed to their hard work, commitment and perseverance. He said that now when these candidates have been selected, they will be allotted cadres and postings as per their merit. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that wherever these candidates should go and get postings they must spread the fragrance of their native state at their workplace.
The Chief Minister said that Punjabis are known for their hard work, resilience and innovative approach adding that these officers must leave an indelible imprint of their state at their workplace. He asked these officers to discharge their duties with utmost dedication, sincerity, honesty and professional commitment. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that with their recruitment, a fresh young blood will be infused in the functioning of administration, which will give impetus to the development of the country.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that these newly appointed officers will certainly take the country to the zenith of its glory. Congratulating the officers for cracking the UPSC Exam successfully, he said that more than 5 lakh aspirants had appeared in the exam out of which 14,627 were selected for mains exam and 2845 were zeroed in for the interview. Finally, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that 1009 candidates have been selected as officers out of which 26 are from the state.
The Chief Minister said that these candidates have been selected on the coveted posts exclusively on their merit and capability as the entire process from the conduct of exam till the appointments was carried out absolutely in a free, fair and transparent manner. Wishing them a promising career and a bright future ahead, Bhagwant Singh Mann asked the officers to serve the society with full enthusiasm and devotion for cherishing their aspirations by implementing the policies and programs of the government in the right earnest. Reiterating the firm commitment of the state government to wipe out the curse of drugs from the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday said that no one involved in this heinous crime is being spared and severest of severe action is being taken against them.
Interacting with the media persons here at his official residence, the Chief Minister said that contrary to the previous regimes, when the ministers used to sell the drugs, none of the persons from the ruling dispensation is involved in this atrocious crime. He categorically said that the state government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against the drug menace and no one indulging in this crime against humanity is being spared today. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that even the black sheep amongst the law enforcing agencies are being identified, and the severest of severe action will be taken against them.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister said that as a result of Yudh Nasheyan Virudh the campaign which has been launched against drug menace, several villages of the state have been made drug free. He said that this fight will continue till an ounce of drug is present in the state and every effort is being made to make Punjab free from this scourge. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government will not rest until the war against drugs is won.
Replying to another query, the Chief Minister said that it is ironic that the farmer unions are worried about having a debate with him whereas he is concerned about safeguarding the interests of the farmers. He said that paddy transplantation has already begun in the state and the Punjab government has made elaborate arrangements to facilitate the farmers. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is committed to ensure the well being of the farmers and no stone will be left unturned for it.
The Chief Minister also quipped that seeking votes on the name of Operation Sindoor will hardly help the BJP as people will not get swayed away with the tactics of the saffron party. He said that these are mere theatrics and the wise people of the state and country will never fall prey to it. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is ironic that the BJP and Union government is sending Sindoor in every household without any logic.
The Chief Minister said that during a recent meeting of the NITI aayog he had asked the Central Government to set up colleges and industries in border areas. He said that it is imperative to give major push to the development of the border districts of the state that had lagged behind due to several reasons. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he has also flagged the issue of problems being faced by the farmers of the state having their land between the International border and the fence.
The chief minister reiterated that the state has no spare water to share with any other state adding that even a single drop of water will not be given to anyone. He said that most of the blocks of the state are overexploited and the groundwater situation in the state is very grim. Likewise, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that as most of the river resources of the state have dried up, it needs more water to cater to its irrigation needs.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister said that as the level of water is changing frequently, every water agreement should be reviewed after every 25 years. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Punjab is a landlocked border state that has already overexploited its only available natural resources in terms of water and fertile soil to feed the country. He said that the earlier leaders of Punjab had backstabbed the people on several issues by giving importance to their own interests over that of the state.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday said that the state government will flag the issue of &nbsp;reconstitution of Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) in the meeting of NIti Aayog slated to be held on Saturday.&nbsp;
Addressing the victory rally here today, the Chief Minister said that he will take up this issue in the meeting to be chaired by the Prime Minister. He said that as the level of water is changing frequently so every water agreement should be reviewed after every 25 years. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Punjab is a landlocked border state which has already over explored its only available natural resources in terms of water and fertile soil to feed the country.&nbsp;
However, the Chief Minister bemoaned that the manner in which BBMB became a party to snatch the legitimate share of waters of the state is unfortunate and highly condemnable. He said that Haryana had exhausted its share of water in the March of this year but the BBMB acted as a puppet in the hand of the centre government and Haryana government to snatch the waters of the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that in an unprecedented manner, the Chairman of BBMB himself came to Nangal to steal the waters of the state, a move which was thwarted by the people of the state.
The Chief Minister said that this is the same BBMB which had taken Rs 32 crore from Punjab for its very existential projects adding that this money was never returned to the state. He said that Punjab owes nearly Rs 150 crore (Rs 142 crore to be precise) from BBMB adding that the state government will soon stake claim for recovery of this money. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that 3000 posts of Punjab&rsquo;s quota have not been deliberately filled by BBMB so as to weaken the state's claim over the waters.
However, the Chief Minister said that momentum will be made for filling these posts at earliest so that interests of the state can be safeguarded. He said that even the townships like Nangal that were aesthetically designed have been ruined due to the neglect of the BBMB which is really deplorable. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the BBMB played in the hands of the centre to snatch the waters of the state but the brave, hard working and resilient farmers of the state foiled their nefarious attempts.
The Chief Minister categorically said that Punjabis have proved that if the state can protect the borders of the country they can aptly save the waters of state too. He said that Punjab has a glorious history of making supreme sacrifices to protect the 532 kilometres long border with Pakistan. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this time also Punjabis were at the forefront giving a befitting reply to the Pakistani Army and on the other hand they saved the share of their water too.
The Chief Minister said that for around 20 days the hard working and vigilant people of the state didn&rsquo;t allow Haryana and centre to steal even a single drop of water from Punjab. He said that for years, Punjab&rsquo;s water has been diverted to other states through the BBMB adding that hands of Congress, Akalis and BJP were drenched with blood of Punjabis as these parties have backstabbed them by ignoring the water rights of the state for vested interests. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the earlier leaders of Punjab had backstabbed the people on several issues by giving importance to their own interests over that of state.&nbsp;
He said that a former Chief Minister got a plot in Gurgaon, where they have a hotel today, for planning the Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) river and issuing its survey order. Bhagwant Singh Mann also said that self proclaimed savior of Punjab waters and former Chief Minister had presented silver spade to the then Prime Minister for the ground breaking ceremony of SYL at Kapoori. The Chief Minister said that BBMB was originally established to manage the waters of the Sutlej and Beas rivers but over years, Punjab&rsquo;s water has been diverted to other states through the BBMB adding that the BJP government has started using this board for its political interests.
Describing BBMB as a white elephant, the Chief Minister said that it is totally useless and unacceptable in the present form adding that Punjab will never accept it now. He said that it is ironic that employees of other states are being paid from the exchequer of state and they harm the interests of Punjab only. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that even the BBMB uses the money of the state to fight legal battles against Punjab, which is highly deplorable.&nbsp;
Batting for Yamuna Satluj Link (YSL) instead of Satluj Yamuna Link canal, the Chief Minister said that Satluj river has already dried up and there is no question of sharing even a single drop of water from it. Rather, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that water from Ganga and Yamuna should be supplied to Punjab through Satluj river. He said that this is the only viable alternative which can be considered in wake of the alarming situation of water scarcity in the state.
The Chief Minister said that despite being smaller in area, Haryana is getting more water than Punjab and ironically it is demanding more water at the cost of Punjab. In wake of this fact, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that how can we give water to Haryana if our own fields are starving for it. He said that today, nearly 60% of the state&rsquo;s farmlands are irrigated through canals, which makes every drop of Punjab&rsquo;s water extremely valuable.
The Chief Minister said that Punjab no longer has any surplus water to give to any other state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that on April 6, Haryana requested water from Punjab for drinking purposes. He said that showing generosity, Punjab gave 4,000 cusecs of water from its share to Haryana, as our Gurus have taught us that giving water to the thirsty is a great act of virtue.
On the occasion Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries. Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Barinder Goyal thanked all the dignitaries and people who had attended the rally.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday dedicated the Chief Minister&rsquo;s Facilitation Centre at Dhuri to ensure effective, transparent, and accessible governance for the residents of the Dhuri constituency.&nbsp;
Dedicating the center, the Chief Minister said it will act as a Single Window system for residents of the Dhuri constituency to access all government services under one roof. He added that the initiative aims to bridge the gap between the public and government offices, increase transparency, improve access to data and its analysis for the residents of Dhuri Assembly constituency and ensure quicker redressal of citizen grievances. Bhagwant Singh Mann said this will promote more citizen-centric governance, build public trust, and enhance service delivery.
The Chief Minister stated that the center has been established at a cost of Rs. 1.21 crore, and features six counters and a reception desk. He added that it also includes a meeting-cum-conference hall, and the primary objective is to improve coordination between the public and government offices. Bhagwant Singh Mann emphasized that it will help in the timely resolution of public issues, and a Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officer will be in charge of the center.
The Chief Minister noted that the officer will oversee the delivery of services and monitor development projects in the area. He added that representatives from various departments&mdash;including Health, Revenue, Social Security, Police, and Administration&mdash;will be present at the center. Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Punjab Government currently provides 443 services through service centers, and this new facility will help people access those services more easily.&nbsp;
He further mentioned that forms for pension schemes, the Ayushman Bharat scheme, Ashirwad scheme, labor cards, Aadhaar card updates, and more will be filled and processed here. One of the key features of the center, the Chief Minister, said, is that citizens will no longer need to visit multiple offices repeatedly. Instead, the center will follow up with the respective departments until the task is completed.
Additionally, the Chief Minister said that through Saanjh Kendras, assistance will be provided for preparing documents related to services such as passport issuance, character certificates, FIRs, DDR copies, and NOCs for loudspeakers and events. He emphasized that the Chief Minister&rsquo;s Facilitation Centre aims to eliminate the harassment commonly faced by citizens in government offices. Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed hope that the center will become a beacon of hope for the common people.

Addressing a gathering after reviewing ongoing development works in the villages of Ghanouri Kalan, Ghanour Khurd, Kataron, and Changali, the Chief Minister said that various government departments are working in coordination with each other for the welfare of the rural population. He reiterated that Punjab lives in its villages and that the ultimate goal of a progressive and vibrant Punjab can only be achieved through clean and green villages. Bhagwant Singh Mann added that the state government has already placed major emphasis on achieving this goal.
The Chief Minister said that Dhuri will be developed as a model city through holistic development, backed by adequate funding. He said that the city will soon be equipped with world-class healthcare and educational facilities, improved roads, clean ponds, water recharging systems, and canal water irrigation. Bhagwant Singh Mann noted that significant resources have already been allocated to ensure the comprehensive development of villages in the segment.
He further stated that there is no shortage of funds for development and the state government is making all possible efforts to ensure the holistic progress of villages. The chief minister emphasized that a detailed roadmap has been drafted to boost ongoing development efforts in both urban and rural areas. Bhagwant Singh Mann also said that, in addition to development, efforts are being made to place the state on a path of high economic growth for the benefit of its people.
The Chief Minister revealed that a total of Rs. 13.98 crore has been issued for 129 development projects in these Panchayats, out of which 93 projects worth Rs. 8.67 crore have been completed. He added that 36 projects worth Rs. 5.31 crore are currently in progress and will be completed soon. Furthermore, based on the needs of the five village Panchayats, an additional grant of Rs. 12.19 crore has been issued for 32 more development projects, said Bhagwant Singh Mann.

While Punjabis once led the charge against colonialism, today they were at the forefront of migration abroad, Bhagwant Singh Mann added.
Expressing pride, the Chief Minister said it is immensely satisfying that around 55,000 youth have been selected for government posts purely on merit. This initiative, he said, is part of a broader strategy to reverse migration and prevent brain drain by opening new opportunities for young people within the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann noted with pleasure that many youth who once planned to move abroad are now preparing for competitive exams to secure government employment.
The chief minister emphasized that all appointments have been made based solely on merit, with candidates emerging successful after clearing rigorous competitive exams. From the beginning, he said, the government&rsquo;s agenda has been to empower youth by providing them with secure jobs, thus making them equal partners in the socio-economic progress of the state and nation. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this employment drive has helped dispel the negativity among youth, leading many to abandon their plans to move abroad.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister questioned why such steps were not taken over the past 75 years, adding that earlier governments failed to act and let the system deteriorate, forcing youth to look outside the country for opportunities. He further stated that Punjab, in addition to being the country&rsquo;s food bowl, has always been the sword arm of India. Its people are globally recognized for their courage, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit, added Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Every inch of Punjab, the Chief Minister said, is sanctified by the footprints of great Gurus, saints, seers, and martyrs who taught us to stand against tyranny, injustice, and oppression. He said that Punjab&rsquo;s cultural richness and hospitality are unmatched, and its people have extraordinary leadership qualities. Now that these youth have become part of the government, Bhagwant Singh Mann urged them to serve the public with a missionary zeal.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that they will use their positions to support the underprivileged and ensure the welfare of all sections of society. He compared the state government&rsquo;s support to airport runways that enable airplanes to take off smoothly. Similarly, the government is helping youth realize their dreams and ambitions, leaving no stone unturned in this noble mission, said Bhagwant Singh Mann.
The chief minister urged the youth to carve out their own identity and strive to leave their mark in society, reminding them that the sky is the limit. Finally, Bhagwant Singh Mann exhorted the youth to remain grounded, even after achieving success, and to believe in the power of hard work&mdash;the sole key to success. He encouraged them to stay in Punjab, where immense opportunities for growth and prosperity await.
The chief minister reaffirmed the government&rsquo;s commitment to driving the state&rsquo;s development and ensuring the prosperity of its people. He said that the state government is committed to the well-being of every section of society, and no stone will be left unturned for it. Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla on Friday said Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann should take full responsibility for the spurious liquor tragedy that led to 27 deaths in Amritsar district and hold top officials accountable.
The Amritsar tragedy was not an isolated incident. There have been similar incidents during the past few years but the government has not learnt any lesson, he claimed.
Twenty-seven people, mostly daily-wage labourers, died after consuming spurious liquor in Amritsar district.
Aujla, the MP from Amritsar, expressed grief over the deaths and said, "The Punjab government's ongoing Yudh Nashian Virudh (campaign against drugs) has no connect whatsoever with the ground reality. Otherwise, this tragedy would not have happened." He pointed out that 120 deaths were reported due to spurious liquor consumption in Amritsar, Batala and Tarn Taran in 2020. In March 2024, 20 people died due to consumption of spurious liquor in Sangrur.
"No one knows what was done to the culprits and that is why people have no fear of the law. Now it has happened again in my (Amritsar parliamentary) constituency," Aujla said.
He added the recent deaths exposed the Mann's government's claims about the Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign.
"The chief minister should take full responsibility for the tragic deaths. He should hold top officials responsible and get resignations of all those government functionaries who are at the helm&hellip; Suspending DSP- and SHO-rank officials is not enough," Aujla said.
He also claimed the state government was focusing solely on revenue collection.
Highlighting that most victims of the recent and past hooch tragedies came from the poor strata of society who put their lives at risk to buy liquor from unauthorised sources, Aujla suggested the government should keep this in mind and provide country liquor at cheap rates in villages.
"Good quality liquor is not being sold at the actual price but at a higher rate, due to which the poor class is being forced to buy cheap and spurious liquor," he said and claimed there was a difference between the minimum sale price and the actual sale price of different country liquor brands.
Aujla said he had been raising alarm by writing to the director general of police and government officials, highlighting the worsening drug crisis, particularly in Amritsar and the border areas.
"I have consistently exposed the deep-rooted drug nexus and repeatedly brought the issue to the attention of the government and now the spurious liquor issue but all my missives were ignored," he claimed.
He also alleged there was a dangerous collusion between drug cartels, certain senior police personnel, and some state government officials.
"I strongly demand that the state government form a high-level committee under the supervision of a sitting high court judge to investigate the number of drug- and liquor-related deaths and go into related issues," he said.
Aujla said the situation in Amritsar was very serious and demanded that the central government send a high-level delegation under a Supreme Court judge to investigate the manufacture and supply of drugs and poisonous liquor in Amritsar and other parts of the state and pinpoint the people behind these activities.
The AAP government has drawn flak for the Amritsar tragedy, with the opposition demanding Mann's resignation.
The state government has said most of the culprits were arrested and vowed to ensure the strictest punishment for them.
A police probe has revealed that methanol-- a chemical used in industrial products -- was procured in bulk online to prepare the toxic brew.
Methanol is a light, colourless organic chemical compound that is poisonous when ingested and is illegally added to alcoholic beverages as a cheaper alternative to ethanol, which is the normal consumable alcohol.
Mann said his government would not spare anyone, however affluent they might be, involved in the sale of spurious liquor.
Aujla said, "We all know that illegal liquor manufacturers are ordering a large quantity of methanol and the state government hasn't done anything in this regard." He said every village in Punjab was affected and there had been a number of deaths due to drugs in recent years.
"When a big incident happens, action is taken against just a few and some are suspended but, after a few days, everything is forgotten," Aujla said and added it was time the government took the issue seriously.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday said that age old family ties of Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa with operatives in Pakistan were behind the theory that 50 bombs have been smuggled into the state as intelligence agencies have no inputs regarding it.
In a statement, the Chief Minister said that it is well known fact that Bajwa family is well connected with the Pakistani operatives since decades due to which he is getting such irrational and baseless information.
He said that while intelligence agencies have no such inputs Bajwa&rsquo;s friend sitting across the border must have told him about their plans to disrupt peace and progress in the state.
Bhagwant Singh Mann asked the Congress leader to substantiate his claim or face action for creating panic amongst people.
The Chief Minister said that the Congress leader has shamelessly made a false claim that 50 bombs have been smuggled in Punjab out of which 18 had exploded and 32 more are still there.
He said that neither state nor central agencies have input in this regard but probably this information has been provided by Bajwa&rsquo;s friend from across the border, as his family has long and strong ties in Pakistan.
However, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this is a serious matter and such callous attitude of the Congress leader is not acceptable as it has created panic amongst the masses.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister said that Bajwa must reveal the source of his information in this regard as this is the moral duty of the leader.
Or, he questioned that is Partap Singh Bajwa waiting for the bombs to explode so that he can use this opportunity for his vested political interests.

He said that terrorizing people by making false claims is an unpardonable and heinous crime for which serious action will be taken. Bhagwant Singh Mann also asked the Congress high command to take strict action against such leaders who have deep rooted connections with the fissiparous forces.

The Chief Minister said that it is a moment of immense pride and satisfaction that more than 54000 jobs have been provided to the youth of the state. He that all the jobs have been given completely on the basis of merit, san any corruption or nepotism. The Chief Minister said that state government has launched &lsquo;Yudh Nasheyan Virudh&rsquo; against the menace of drugs adding that unbounded energy of youth is being &nbsp;channelized in positive direction. He said that it is imperative to save the generations of the state from scourge of drugs as Punjab has already suffered a huge loss of manpower due to this menace. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has launched this campaign with active support of the common man so that the scourge of drugs can be wiped out from state.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister said that the state government will not sit idly and watch the smugglers bloom at the cost of the dead bodies and pyres of the drug victims. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has already snapped the supply line of drugs and big fishes involved in this heinous crime have been put behind the bars. He said that for the first time the property of the drug smugglers acquired illegally are being destroyed/ confiscated by the state government so that it acts as a deterrent for others.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is implementing School mentorship program in the state thereby ensuring that the IAS/IPS officers adopt rural schools across the state and mentor the students for excelling in life. He said that this Pilot project will be introduced in 80 schools of eminence of the state and every officer will be allotted the school for a period of five years irrespective of their place of positing. Bhagwant Singh Mann sad that this move will further strengthen the atmosphere of education through conversation with students and teachers along with it the officers will prepare the students for competitive exams and ensure training to teachers for upgrading their skills.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister said that these officers will act a catalyst for mustering resources and resource person for development of these schools. He said that these officers will work as mentors and not as bosses and this work will be voluntary service and interested officers will have to perform it along with their already allocated duties. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this step will further revolutionize education sector in the state.
The Chief Minister said that it gives him immense pride and satisfaction that exceptionally bright students are studying in these schools. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the Punjab government has given a major boost to the education sector by allocating 11% of the total Budget expenditure to it, amounting to Rs.18,047 crore in the budget adding that this will help in carving out a new, prosperous and progressive Punjab. He said that his government has laid due focus on the development of the education sector to impart quality education to the students.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is organizing Parents Teachers Meeting (PTM) in the government schools across the state. He said that lakhs of parents across the state are enquiring about the studies, atmosphere, curriculum and other things being offered to their kids. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it will also provide an opportunity to teachers for explaining the performance of students in the schools.
Meanwhile, in his address former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the state government is working tirelessly for giving wings to dream of students. He said that complete transformation of the education system is going on across the state. Manish Sisodia said that we promising that we don&rsquo;t indulge in politics of dividing people on sectarian lines but we are empowering people through quality education.
The former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister said that in last three years more than 12000 schools of the state have undergone complete transformation. He said that contrary to three years ago now the 29 lakh students across the state are getting state of the art facilities. Manish Sisodia said that these schools have best and talented teachers.
The former Deputy Chief Minister said that the state government has embarked a two fold strategy to check the menace of drugs. He said that on one hand major crackdown has been launched against the drug smugglers to snap the supply line and on other hand quality education is being imparted to youngsters so that demand of drugs is not there. Manish Sisodia said that with these efforts Punjab will soon emerge as a drug free state.&nbsp;
The former Delhi Chief Minister said that contrary to this newly formed government in Delhi has deprived the poor families from quality education. He said that the fees in private schools in Delhi have been doubled to loot the common man especially from weaker sections. Manish Sisodia said that Punjab has emerged as a savior of poor and weaker sections of the state.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday said that after cleaning the mess of previous regimes for three years, the state government is now on path of restoring the pristine glory of Punjab.
Addressing the gathering after dedicating World Skill Campus of Excellence consisting of two premier institutions &ndash; newly renovated State of the Art Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and Multi Skill Development Centre (MSDC) here today, the Chief Minister bemoaned that the state has lagged behind in the process of development due to the regressive policies and malicious intent of the previous regimes.
He said that those were the times when industry was suffering, drug mafia and gangsters were flexing muscles under open patronization of the erstwhile rulers and the development of Punjab had derailed. However, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that since day one of assuming charge in office his government had focused on holistic development of the state and prosperity of its people.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has fulfilled almost all the guarantees promised to people adding that even those guarantees which were not made have also been given to people.
He said that on one hand the BJP led NDA government is enhancing the rates of toll everyday whereas on other hand the state government has closed 17 toll plazas in Punjab.
Likewise, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that a flawless plan was chalked out and executed to give a major push to development of every sector.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister said that unfortunately water had depleted in 117 out 153 blocks, which went into black dark zone. He said that the previous governments never bothered about making any effort to save the groundwater and the farmers at the tail ends, on this land of five rivers, never got water.
Bhagwant Singh Mann said after assuming charge the AAP government has revived 15947 water courses in the state due to which water has reached at the tail ends even in remotest villages.
Likewise, the Chief Minister said that his government has provided free power to households from the month of July after which 90% of them are getting free power.
Bhagwant Singh Mann said that for the first time the state government has purchased a power plant from a private firm to make the state surplus in power production.
He said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that the state government has named this thermal plant after Sri Guru Amar Dass ji- the third Sikh Guru.
The Chief Minister said that Punjab has complete communal harmony, peace and amity, which are mainly responsible for overall development and prosperity in the state.
Bhagwant Singh Mann said that due to strenuous efforts of Punjab government so far investments worth around Rs 97,000 crore have been firmed up in the state in the last three years adding that leading companies like Tata Steel, Sanatan Textiles and others are making a beeline to invest in the state.
He said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that companies are making optimum use of the congenial atmosphere backed by excellent infrastructure, power, skilled human resources and best industrial and work culture in the state to spread their business.
The Chief Minister said that he wants to hand over tiffins in the hands of youth by giving them employment so that they shun the syringes and menace of other drugs.
He said that as Idle hands are devil&rsquo;s workshop, so the state government is trying its best to ensure that maximum youth get jobs so that they do not fall prey to the social menaces.
Bhagwant Singh Mann said that unemployment is the root cause of several social problems due to which the state government is focusing on eradicating this malady and so far around 55,000 government jobs have been provided to the youth.
The Chief Minister said that the drug mafia was patronized by the earlier governments but his government has launched a crusade against drugs.
Bhagwant Singh Mann said meticulous planning has been done to wipe out the menace of drugs from the state and now war against drugs has begun in a full-fledged manner.
He said that apart from snapping the supply lines of drugs the state government has put the big fishes involved in this crime behind the bars adding that now the property of the drug peddlers is being seized and destroyed adding that this noble cause cannot be accomplished without active public support.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has issued a Whatsapp helpline number 9779100200 for seeking the support of the people in this war. He asked the people to share any information pertaining to the drug smugglers operative in their area or city on this Whatsapp number.
Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the identity of the caller will be kept secret and will not be disclosed to anyone.
The Chief Minister said that youth of the state possess inherent qualities to excel in every field and their capabilities must be utilized properly.
He said that the students and youth are like planes and the state government will provide them a launchpad to go ahead in life. Bhagwant Singh Mann unequivocally said that he won&rsquo;t rest until the youth of Punjab don&rsquo;t achieve their desired goals and excel in every field.
The Chief Minister exhorted the youth to stay grounded even after achieving huge success in life and believe in hard work as it is the sole key to success.
He impressed upon the youth to work hard in the state as there was a lot of scope of progress and prosperity on this land. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is committed to giving impetus to the development of the state and prosperity of its people.
The Chief Minister said that this Campus of Excellence has a sprawling 20 acre campus which has the capacity to provide skill training and facilitate job placements for over 3,000 students.
He said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that Rajya Sabha Member Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney has adopted and mentored ITI Ludhiana and has contributed Rs. 2 Crores from his MPLAD fund and additional Rs. 70 Lakhs by his own to upgrade and modernize ITI &ndash; Ludhiana.
Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the campus of excellence will offer cutting-edge technology courses including Robotic Welders, 3D Printing Machines, CNC Machines and others in digital classrooms with Audio-Video setups and advanced training Labs.&nbsp;
The Chief Minister bemoaned that due to indifferent attitude of previous regimes, the Multi Skill Development Centre had remained vacant and un-utilized for years adding that this centre will provide total free of charge Skill Courses to the youth in disciplines like Artificial Intelligence, Aviation, Hospitality, Tourism, Agriculture Skill Development, Fashion Designing, Beauty and Wellness, Nursing, CNC Programming, Electrician, Welding, and other courses accredited by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that there was tremendous scope of skilled manpower in various sectors due to which the state government has been focusing to deliver quality skill training to the youth on modern lines for coping up with the demand of local industry.
He said that Skill training center will fulfill a twin objective of coping up with the needs of industry to have skilled manpower on one hand and opening new vistas of employment for the youth on the other.
On the occasion Cabinet Ministers Harjot Singh Bains and Tarunpreet Singh Sondh, Rajya Sabha MPs Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney and Sanjeev Arora along with others were also present.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday asked the Police officers to gear up for ensuring free, fair and peaceful conduct of the ensuing general elections.
The Chief Minister, while chairing a meeting with the top brass of the Police along with Inspector Generals, Commissioners of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police, said that the smooth and hassle free conduct of these polls are imperative so that the people can exercise their franchise freely.&nbsp;
He said that elections are a celebration of democracy and every effort must be made to ensure that people participate in these polls without any fear. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the Police authorities must make elaborate arrangements for this purpose and no stone should be left unturned for this noble cause.

He said that a sense of security and safety must prevail amongst these political parties so that they can take part in these elections enthusiastically.
