Reports said that various items kept in the church were damaged, including a statue of the baby Jesus.
Police said they were analysing CCTV footage, and several teams have been formed to apprehend the culprits.
"We are scouting for clues from the CCTV footage recorded by nearby cameras. Prima Facie looks like it is theft, as they have made away with money, and also with one collection box that was placed outside the church," Seema Latkar, Superintendent of Police, Mysuru was quoted as saying by NDTV.

11 French bishops, including a cardinal, accused of sexual violence

France's Catholic church on Monday revealed that 11 former or serving French bishops have been accused of sexual violence or failing to report abuse cases, including a cardinal who confessed to assaulting a girl decades ago.

The report described a &ldquo;systemic&rdquo; coverup by church officials and urged the French Catholic Church to respect the rule of law in France.

France's Catholic church on Monday revealed that 11 former or serving French bishops have been accused of sexual violence or failing to report abuse cases, including a cardinal who confessed to assaulting a girl decades ago.
In a shock revelation, the president of the Bishops' Conference of France, Eric de Moulins-Beaufort, told reporters that some of the high-ranking church officials faced criminal prosecution, or a church tribunal, or both.
Among them is Jean-Pierre Ricard, a long-standing bishop of Bordeaux who was made a cardinal by Pope Francis in 2016, and who had admitted to a "reprehensible" act on a 14-year-old, de Moulins-Beaufort said.
"Thirty-five years ago, when I was a priest, I behaved in a reprehensible way towards a girl of 14," Ricard wrote in a message to the Conference read out by de Moulins-Beaufort.
"There is no doubt that my behaviour caused serious and long-lasting consequences for that person," the cardinal said, adding that he had since asked the woman for forgiveness.
French bishops are meeting in Lourdes in southwestern France for their autumn conference to discuss ways to improve their communication and transparency regarding historical sex crime allegations against the clergy.
The public confession by Ricard, 78, was received "like a shock" by the bishops, de Moulins-Beaufort said.
Ricard, 78, was bishop in Coutances, Montpellier and finally Bordeaux between 2001 and 2019.
All of the accused will face either prosecution or church disciplinary procedures, said de Moulins-Beaufort, who is the archbishop of the northeastern city of Reims.
He said six former bishops had already been accused of sexual abuse "by the judiciary of our country, or by the judiciary of the church", one of whom had since died.
A broad study released last year by an independent commission estimated that some 330,000 children were sexually abused over 70 years by priests or other church-related figures in France.

The tally included an estimated 216,000 people abused by priests and other clerics, and the rest by church figures such as scout leaders and camp counselors. The estimates were based on broader research by France's National Institute of Health and Medical Research into sexual abuse of children.
The report described a &ldquo;systemic&rdquo; coverup by church officials and urged the French Catholic Church to respect the rule of law in France.

The bishop was detained by immigration officials at the airport earlier today when he was leaving for UK for a church event. He was asked to appear for questioning in the matter.
ED on Monday also quizzed Rasalam and Director of Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College in connection with alleged financial irregularities over collection of capitation fee for admission to the medical college. The allegations were levelled by 24 students who claimed that college management defrauded them in the garb of medical seats.
Initial probe in the case by Crime Branch exonerated the college management but its findings were dismised by Kerala High Court which ordered a re-investigation in the case.

The bishop was detained by immigration officials at the airport on Tuesday when he was leaving for UK for a church event and asked to appear for questioning in the matter.

The victims included three girls ages 9, 10 and 13, Grassmann said.
The shooter was estranged from his daughters’ mother, who had a restraining order against him, Sheriff Scott Jones said.
Investigators believe the shooting happened during a supervised visit with the children and that the fourth victim was their chaperone, Jones said.
The shooter’s name wasn’t immediately released, but officials said he was 39 years old.
An employee of The Church In Sacramento heard the gunshots and called 911, Grassmann said.
Sheriff’s officials are investigating it as a domestic violence incident, he said.

Joseph Kallarangatt of Pala Diocese under the Syro Malabar Church gave a sermon on Thursday wherein he christened a new phrase&mdash; 'narcotics jihad'&mdash;an attempt by Muslims in Kerala to lure Christians towards Islam with the help of drugs.The Bishop said that the Christian community had been facing a lot of issues due to &lsquo;love and narcotics jihad&rsquo; and extremists were using such a route to destroy youth and to lure Christian women in particular.
Various religious organisations, both Christian and non-Christian, denounced the Bishop&rsquo;s remarks. Reformist groups within the Church alleged that the Bishop was making communal statements to appease the right-wing and the BJP for aid. The Bishop had earlier made news for donating money to RSS for the Ram Mandir initiative.
The communal statements also attracted condemnation from both sides of the political aisle. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that there was no need to give narcotics a religious colour. Opposition Congress too called it &lsquo;an unfortunate incident&rsquo;.

The leader of a fundamentalist Christian organisation in Mexico has been charged with rape and human trafficking in the United States.
