According to a recent Sacnilk report, "Chhaava" secured an impressive Rs 6.25 crore on its 25th day in Indian cinemas across all languages.
This brings the film's cumulative domestic earnings to a staggering Rs 526.05 crore. Notably, it has outperformed the lifetime box office collection of Sunny Deol's 2023 blockbuster "Gadar 2," which grossed Rs 525.7 crore in India.
Upon joining the prestigious Rs 500 crore club, Vicky Kaushal took to Instagram to express his heartfelt thanks to fans. Sharing a poster from the film, he wrote, "What you all have given to #Chhaava goes much beyond numbers&hellip;you all have made this an emotion."
He continued, "You have taken forward the legacy of Chhatrapathi Sambhaji Maharaj and truly celebrated his glory! For this, we are truly grateful to each and every one of you. The story doesn't end here&hellip; #CHHAAVA still in cinemas near you!"
Directed by Laxman Utekar, "Chhaava" is an adaptation of Shivaji Sawant's renowned Marathi novel of the same name.
Vicky Kaushal steps into the role of the legendary Maratha ruler, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, while Rashmika Mandanna portrays his wife, Maharani Yesubai.
Akshaye Khanna plays Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, with Diana Penty appearing as Aurangzeb's daughter, Shehzadi Zinat-un-Nissa Begum. Ashutosh Rana takes on the role of Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite.

Despite competition from new releases like Sanam Teri Kasam and Dinesh Vijan's Crazxy, Chhaava remains largely unchallenged, as the newer films are projected to earn only ₹1-₹2 crore on opening day.

Filmmaker Laxman Utekar has decided to remove the controversial "lezim" dance scene from his upcoming film Chhaava, based on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, after facing objections from politicians and history enthusiasts.

Filmmaker Laxman Utekar announced on Monday that the "lezim" dance scene from his upcoming movie Chhaava, based on the life of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be removed following objections raised by politicians and history enthusiasts.
The decision came after Utekar met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray at his residence in Mumbai to discuss the issue.
The trailer of the film, released earlier this week, included a sequence where actors Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, portraying Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Maharani Yesubai, are seen dancing with the "lezim," a traditional musical instrument tied to Maharashtra's cultural heritage.
Speaking to reporters, Utekar stated, "The meeting with Raj Thackeray was to seek his advice. His knowledge of history, especially regarding Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is extensive. He provided valuable suggestions for changes, which we will implement. As for the scene featuring Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj playing 'lezim,' we will delete it. It was not our intention to hurt anyone's sentiments."
The scene drew sharp criticism on social media, with some politicians accusing the filmmakers of disrespecting the historical figure.
Utekar explained, "We are removing the scene because it is not a significant part of the film. If people feel that the portrayal is inaccurate, we are willing to make this change. Our goal has always been to honour and showcase the greatness of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj to the world."
He further emphasized the meticulous research behind the film, saying, "This film is a result of four years of research by our team. The aim is to educate the world about the contributions of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj as a great warrior and king. If any part of the film tarnishes this vision, we have no hesitation in addressing it."
Maharashtra Minister and Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant, who had earlier called for the removal of the controversial scenes, welcomed the director's decision, expressing hope that this resolution would settle the matter.
Chhaava is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 14.

In an official statement, Utekar clarified, &ldquo;Lezim dance is a small matter compared to the immense legacy of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. We have decided to delete the sequence to ensure the sentiments of the public are not hurt.&rdquo;
The film, starring Vicky Kaushal as Sambhaji Maharaj and Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai, is based on Shivaji Sawant&rsquo;s renowned book Chhava. It explores the valour and leadership of Sambhaji Maharaj during his reign.
Objections from Maharashtra ministers, historians, and descendants of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had put the film under scrutiny. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed concern, stating, &ldquo;Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj&rsquo;s history must be shown accurately, without any distortion. Creativity must be balanced with sensitivity.&rdquo;
Rajya Sabha MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati also suggested the film be reviewed by historians before release. Supporting this, Utekar announced a special screening on January 29 for historians and experts to address any inaccuracies.
The controversy began after objections were raised over the depiction of Sambhaji Maharaj in a Lezim dance sequence, which some believed distorted historical authenticity. Maharashtra minister Uday Samant, among others, urged filmmakers to ensure the story respects the legacy of the Maratha king.
Despite the changes, Utekar assured that Chhaava will release as scheduled on February 14. The film features an ensemble cast, including Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, Diana Penty, and Divya Dutta. It promises to bring Sambhaji Maharaj&rsquo;s story to life while maintaining historical integrity and cultural sensitivity. &nbsp;
