Good news is coming in for students or working professionals who are planning to Canada as the country has unveiled a plan to increase the number of permanent residence. 
The news comes after Canada's MP Randeep Sarai's Private Member’s Motion M-44 was approved by the House of Commons in May.
Canada, which depends on immigration to drive its economy and support an aging population, has been ramping up annual immigration and has a goal of adding 451,000 permanent residents in 2024.
Immigration Minister Sean Fraser said, Foreign workers bring a wide range of skill sets and educational backgrounds, assist corporate growth, creativity, and productivity, all of which contribute to the economic recovery and growth of Canada. 
Canada has added more than 275,000 permanent residents until July 2022. 
Why Canada needs new immigrants
Canada welcomes high levels of immigration in order to strengthen its economy. Not only does Canada have one of the world’s oldest populations, but it also has one of the world’s lowest birth rates. This imbalance creates fiscal and economic strain. To address the pressures caused by a lower birth rate and older population, Canada has been increasing its immigration levels since the late 1980s to grow the nation’s economy, population, and labour force. Today, Canada depends on immigration for the bulk of its population and economic growth.
Foreign workers bring a wide range of skill sets and educational backgrounds, assist corporate growth, creativity, and productivity, all of which contribute to the economic recovery and growth of Canada. 

Canada takes one more step to make permanent residency easier

M-44 is also known as Motion 44 &mdash; &ldquo;Permanent Residency for Temporary Foreign Workers&rdquo; &mdash; and is a motion regarding Canadian immigration that was introduced in Parliament on January 31, 2022&nbsp;&nbsp;

With a large number of Indians having to face long waiting times for Canadian visas, Canada's High Commission here on Thursday said it understands their "frustration and disappointment", and assured that it is working to improve the situation.
The Canadian High Commission, in a series of tweets, said thousands of Indian students were receiving their visas every week and that it would continue to make every effort to reduce the wait time.
"We understand your frustration and disappointment and want to assure you that we are working to improve the situation. In fact, we have been processing applications throughout the year, including study permits for the September 2022 intake," it said.
"Many thousands of students in India are receiving their visas each week. We will continue to make every effort to reduce wait times against an unprecedented volume of applications received," the mission said.
It said the current processing time for study permit applications globally is 12 weeks.
"While processing times in India have been higher in 2022, we are making every effort to reduce wait times in our services globally," the High Commission said.
"We urge students who are still waiting the outcome of their visa applications at this stage to contact their Designated Learning Institution in Canada to discuss options should they be unable to arrive in time for the start of classes," it said.

Under the changes announced by Immigration Minister, parents and grandparents coming to Canada can now stay here for up to five years per entry. The changes will kick in from July 4.
Previously, the super visa program allowed parents and grandparents with a super visa to remain in Canada for 2 years at a time.
The super visa programme, started in 2011, allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents and grandparents to come and live with them in Canada for extended periods of time.
Indians in Canada 
In 2020, 50,841 Indian citizens were invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada. They made up for 47 per cent of the total invites that were issued during the period.
In 2021, about one lakh Indians became permanent residents of Canada as the country admitted a record number of 4,05,000 new immigrants in its history.
