Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Tuesday strongly denied any alliance or understanding with the BJP and urged party cadres to remain alert against such "misinformation".
In a post on X, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said, "As is well known, the BSP is neither part of the BJP-led NDA alliance nor the Congress-led INDIA bloc, or any other front. The party remains committed to the Ambedkarite ideology of 'Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay' (for the welfare and happiness of all)." Despite this, a "misinformation campaign" has been unleashed by "casteist mindsets targeting Dalits, tribals and OBCs" to politically harm the BSP.
She said reports of her alliance with the BJP are "false, baseless, and malicious".
Urging party workers and supporters to remain alert, Mayawati said such "dirty tactics" are part of political conspiracies aimed at weakening the Ambedkarite movement.
"BSP workers must not fall for these ploys and stay vigilant against attempts to mislead them," Mayawati said.
She reiterated that her party will continue to work independently, without aligning with any caste-based political front.

He said that Anil Kumar will contest from the Shimla (Reserve) seat, Hem Raj will be the party candidate from the Hamirpur seat, while Prakash Chand Bhardwaj and Rekha Rani will contest from Mandi and Kangra seats respectively.

The Lok Sabha battle in Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh has literally homed in on the Munjare household where the Congress MLA wife has been asked by her BSP candidate husband to stay away till polling day on April 19.
Balaghat MLA Anubha Munjare told PTI her husband Kankar Munjare had asked her to stay apart due to difference in ideologies, while the latter said people would believe there was some "match-fixing" involved if they stayed under one roof.
"We had stayed together during the Assembly polls last year when I was Congress candidate from Balaghat and he was Gondwana Gantantra Party candidate from Paraswada in the district. I fail to understand why he wants us to stay apart now," Anubha Munjare said.
"We have been married for 33 years and have lived happily along with our son. There are families that live together despite members being part of different political ideologies. Look at the Scindias of Gwalior," said Anubha Munjare, who defeated BJP heavyweight Gaurishankar Bisen in the 2023 state polls.
Anubha Munjare said she would give full support to the Congress' Balaghat Lok Sabha candidate Samrat Saraswat but asserted she would not badmouth her husband during the campaign.
The BJP must be defeated in Balaghat under any circumstance, she asserted.
"I told my wife to live separately till April 19 or I will leave the house. Two people pursuing different ideologies cannot stay in the same house. If we do so people will think some sort of poll match fixing is going on," Kankar Munjare told PTI.
The BSP candidate claimed MP Congress chief Jitu Patwari, while addressing a gathering, had insisted that he be defeated.&nbsp;

Even after acquittal in the rape case, the MP will continue to remain in jail in the pending case of abetment of suicide filed in Lucknow.

A special court of Varanasi on Saturday acquitted Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Lok Sabha MP Atul Rai in a case of alleged rape and cheating filed in 2019 by a woman who died by suicide outside the Supreme Court last year after accusing senior police officers of colluding with the accused.
Anuj Yadav, the advocate of the MP, said that the special judge of the MP-MLA court, Siyaram Chaurasia, gave the decision in favour of Atul Rai, who represents the Ghosi Lok Sabha seat and has been in jail since June 2019 in the case.
"Evidence could not be submitted on the behalf of the victim, and the incident could not be proved," the lawyer said.
Even after acquittal in the rape case, Yadav said that the MP will continue to remain in jail in the pending case of abetment of suicide filed in Lucknow.
On May 1, 2019, the 24-year-old woman filed a complaint of rape against Atul Rai and others. She alleged said that Rai took her to his flat in Varanasi, raped her, made objectionable videos and took photographs. After this, he threatened to put the videos online.

On June 22, 2019, Rai surrendered in court, and since then, he is lodged in Naini Jail in Prayagraj.
In August last year, the woman, a resident of Mau and a student at a university in Varanasi, along with her friend and witness in the case died after self-immolation outside the Supreme Court in Delhi.
Before committing suicide, the two had recorded a Facebook Live video in which the alleged victim disclosed her identity and claimed that she had filed the rape case against Rai in 2019. She also alleged that some senior police officers were supporting the accused.
Rai was booked by the Hazratganj police in Lucknow for abetting the suicide of the two.
In July, the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court, while denying bail to Rai, had asked Parliament and the Election Commission of India to take effective measures to remove criminals from politics and break the unholy nexus among them, politicians and bureaucrats.
A bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh said it is the responsibility of Parliament to show its collective will to restrain criminals from entering politics or legislature to save democracy.
Considering the criminal history of 23 cases against Rai, the might of the accused, evidence on record and the possibility of tampering with the evidence, the bench said, it did not find any ground to grant bail to him at this stage.

The BJP had last month named West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, a Jat leader from Rajasthan with socialist background, as the ruling National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) vice presidential candidate.

In a statement, the Commission said polls would now be held on February 20. It coincides with the third phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh.
The parties had said that several followers of Guru Ravidas would not be able to exercise their franchise on February 14 as they would be travelling.

"I am mentally disturbed and I have no intention of going to any party right now. I will rest for a few days," he said.
"I have resigned from the BSP and the Assembly because there was lack of trust between our party leader Mayawati and me. When our leader does not have faith in us, then what will we do by staying in the party," Alam told PTI.
In a letter to the BSP supremo, the Mubarakpur MLA said, "You have given me ticket of MLA twice in 2012 and 2017 from Mubarakpur and I also won the elections. From 2012 till now, I have been a party loyalist and have fulfilled every responsibility given by you." "But after the meeting with you held on November 21, I realised that you are not satisfied with my work in spite of complete loyalty and sincerity," he said.
After his resignation, the BSP in a statement said the party got information from the media about the resignation.
"Its reason is that a woman, who worked in his company, has made serious allegations regarding his character and has registered a police complaint," it said.

Sources said the Lower House will be adjourned after taking up a few matters, including Zero Hour.
The session which began on September 14, witnessed passage of several bills in both Houses, including those which sought to replace ordinances issued recently. The decision to curtail the session has been conveyed to floor leaders of parties in the lower house, the sources said.
The Monsoon Session was otherwise scheduled to end on October 1.
Several MPs, including a few ministers, have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last few days.
On Monday, eight members of Rajya Sabha were suspended over their "unruly behaviour" during the passage of the two key farm bills on Sunday.
A number of opposition parties on Tuesday staged a walkout from Rajya Sabha and decided to boycott proceedings of the House till the suspension of the eight members is revoked, even as the government insisted on their apology.
In Lok Sabha too, various opposition parties, including the Congress and the TMC boycotted the House in solidarity with the suspended Rajya Sabha members.
Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said all opposition parties are boycotting Parliament in solidarity with the suspended Rajya Sabha members.
Opposition parties, including the Congress, the TMC, the BSP and the TRS, walked out of the Lok Sabha after Chowdhury's announcement.
