Mumbai Police confirmed no explosives were found at BSE after a bomb threat email led to an emergency search operation.

The iconic Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) building in south Mumbai received a bomb threat email, which turned out to a hoax after a search of the premises, police said on Tuesday.
A BSE employee received an email on Sunday from an email ID mentioning the name of a political leader from south India, an official said.
The email claimed four RDX IEDs had been planted in the BSE building and warned of a blast around 3 pm on Monday, he said.
The BSE employee alerted the stock exchange authorities who then approached the Mumbai Police.
A team of the Mumbai Police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) rushed to the BSE highrise tower and conducted a search, the official said, adding that nothing suspicious was found.
The police have registered a case against unidentified person under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and efforts were on to trace the email sender.
During the 1993 serial bomb blasts, the BSE building was one of the targets.

For the first time since its listing, the BSE shares saw the biggest decline of about 18% on Monday after it was asked to pay the regulatory fee to market regulator SEBI. The regulatory fees is based on the annual turnover which is calculated from the 'notional value' of its options contracts.
<h3>Regulatory Fees</h3>
BSE that calculated the annual turnover based on the premium value for options contract will now have to pay the differential regulatory fee for the past period along with interest. Nominal value is determined by multiplying the number of underlying shares by the strike price of a share whereas premium value is the price in the market.
As per CNBC-TV18, BSE has been asked to pay a differential fee of Rs 165 crore, of which Rs 69 crore is from financial year 2007 to financial year 2023, and Rs 96 crore for financial year 2024. Similarly, MCX has also been asked to pay a differential fee of Rs 4.43 crore.
<h3>Brokerages' stance</h3>
Brokerages firm Jefferies in its note wrote, &nbsp;that derivatives make up for nearly 40% of financial year 2025 and 2026 profit estimates. The higher fees can impact its Earnings Per Share (EPS) by 15% to 18%.
"As derivatives volume growth remains ahead of estimates, price hikes and improved premium quality can fully offset the EPS impact," Jefferies wrote in its note. 
The Brokerage has also downgraded the BSE stock to hold from its earlier rating of buy. The target price is cut &nbsp;to Rs 2,900 from Rs 3,000 earlier. BSE stock has risen over 400% in the last 12 months.

On April 8, market capitalization of all listed companies on BSE crossed the milestone of ₹400 lakh crore, marking a lifetime high.
This surge was fueled by a sustained rally across blue-chip, mid-cap, and small-cap indices. BSE first breached the ₹100 lakh crore mark in March 2014, followed by ₹200 lakh crore in February 2021, and the ₹300 lakh crore milestone in July 2023. The latest leap to ₹400 lakh crore occurred merely nine months later.
Notably, March witnessed the addition of 3.12 million new demat accounts, pushing the total count to record 151.4 million. The financial year 2024 added nearly 37 million new accounts, marking the highest number for any financial year in absolute terms. This surge represents a significant increase of 32% compared to the previous financial year. 
On April 5, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) opted to maintain the repo rate, aligning with analysts' forecasts. However, it also emphasized a cautious stance towards reducing inflation. Analysts note a decline in core price pressures and sluggish gross value added growth, urging for rate cuts to stimulate economic expansion.
They anticipate an easing cycle commencing in August, though prolonged high rates pose a threat to economic growth prospects. The monetary policy committee, in a 5-1 vote, opted to keep the repo rate unchanged, with member Jayanth Varma advocating for a 25-basis point rate reduction for the second consecutive meeting.
Last week, the US stock market closed on a positive note driven by a robust jobs report, indicating sustained economic vigor, which could delay Federal Reserve policy adjustments. All major groups in the S&amp;P 500 saw gains exceeding 1%, buoyed by optimism about a resilient economy potentially postponing Fed intervention.
This surge prompted an uptick in Treasury yields and tempered expectations for Fed rate cuts in 2024. March's payroll figures surpassed expectations, with unemployment dropping to 3.8%, accompanied by wage hikes and an expansion in workforce participation, underscoring a robust labor market.

<h3>Indian equity benchmarks advances</h3>
It was in May 2007, the BSE-listed firms achieved the feat of touching $ 1 trillion m-cap. Later in July 2017 it surpassed $2 trillion &nbsp;and $3 trillion in May 2021.
The advancement in the Indian equity benchmarks was led by information technology (IT) stocks. The IT stocks moved 1.5% higher, after a dovish commentary from a US Federal Reserve official elevated bets of rate cuts by as early as March 2024. The Nifty50 index also regained its 20,000 mark for the first time since September 20, 2023.
"Nifty's crossing the psychological level of 20,000 and the BSE market cap's ascent to the $4 trillion mark signal the start of a fresh momentum. Domestic liquidity has provided support, but the lack of foreign inflows due to high US bond yields has been a hindrance. Fortunately, interest rates in the US have peaked, and the dollar index is declining, which is expected to attract foreign institutional investor (FII) inflows into the Indian equity market," Santosh Meena, Head of Research at Swastika Investmart told Business Today.&nbsp;
Among global markets, the Indian stock indices is ranked fifth in terms of market value, behind the US ($47 trillion), China ($9.7 trillion), Japan ($5.9 trillion) and Hong Kong ($4.8 trillion).

On the occasion of its 149th foundation day, Asia&rsquo;s oldest stock exchange - BSE on Monday launched a new logo. The Bombay Stock Exchange was established in 1875 as &lsquo;The Native Share &amp; Stock Brokers' Association&rsquo; under a banyan tree on Mumbai&rsquo;s Dalal Street.
Over the past century, BSE has facilitated the growth of the Indian corporate sector by providing it an efficient capital-raising platform.&nbsp;

BSE Ltd's board of directors has given their approval for a share buyback program valued at up to ₹374.80 crore, with each share priced at ₹816. This decision was revealed in a regulatory filing made by the company.
The buyback will be carried out through a tender offer, and the specific record date will be determined by the buyback committee.
The price set for the share buyback is ₹816 per equity share, which will result in a total buyback program worth ₹374.80 crore.
This program aims to repurchase 45,93,137 equity shares, which represents 3.39% of the total paid-up equity capital of the company as of March 31, 2023.
BSE had previously announced on July 3 that a board meeting would be held on July 6 to discuss the buyback. In addition, the company's board has appointed Nuvama Wealth Management Limited as the manager overseeing the buyback.

NSE and BSE announced that starting on Thursday, Adani Power will once again be covered by the framework for short-term extra surveillance measures (ASM)

NSE and BSE said they will include Adani Power under the short-term additional surveillance measure (ASM) framework from Thursday.
Adani Power is shortlisted in short-term ASM framework Stage-I effective March 23, according to separate circulars available on the exchanges.
The move also comes close on the heels of the two exchanges moving Adani group stocks, Adani Green Energy and NDTV, from the second stage of the long-term ASM framework to Stage I.
Earlier, both the exchanges had put Adani Power along with Adani Enterprises and Adani Wilmar under short-term ASM on March 8. However, these three stocks were excluded from the short-term ASM framework on March 17.
Currently, there is no Adani group stock in the short-term ASM framework. &nbsp;

Longer trading hours might soon become a reality.&nbsp; The plans for extending trading hours in the equity and futures and options segments have once again been revived.&nbsp; As per an Economics times report, the National stock exchange (NSE) is spearheading this effort, and is in intial discussions with market participants.&nbsp;
This is not the first time these discussions have come about. It has long been contented that the current trading hours in India have resulted in volumes shifting to offshore markets. Increasing the hours would help bring back volumes onshore. Longer trading hours would also help Indian investors to react faster to global events.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Currently, equity and derivatives platforms are open between 9.15 am and 3.30 pm. However, SEBI has already drawn up a framework that allows bourses to keep F&amp;O trading open until 11.55 pm and shares until 5 pm. It is now up to the exchanges to implement this, as no changes in rules are required from the market regulator's end.&nbsp;

 BSE launches Electronic Gold Receipts: all you need to know

The announcement came after the exchange last month received final approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) for introducing EGR on its platform.

Leading stock exchange BSE has launched &nbsp;Electronic Gold Receipt (EGR) on its platform, a move that will help in efficient and transparent price discovery of the yellow metal.
It introduced two new products of 995 and 999 purity during the Muhurat trading on Diwali and trading will be in multiples of 1 gram and deliveries in multiples of 10 gram and 100 gram, the exchange said in a statement.
The announcement came after the exchange last month received final approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) for introducing EGR on its platform.
BSE in February received in-principle approval from Sebi after which the exchange conducted several mock trading in the test environment for its members to facilitate trading in EGRs.
EGRs will cater to all market participants, which means that buyers and sellers on the exchange will include individual investors, as well as commercial participants along the value chain like importers, banks, refiners, bullion traders, jewellery manufacturers, and retailers.
"The launch of EGRs represents a significant milestone not only for the BSE but also for the global bullion industry. BSE is committed to continuously facilitating access to high-quality investment-based products and services for our stakeholders," Sameer Patil, CBO at BSE said on Monday.
The EGR platform will lead to greater assurance in the quality of gold supplied, efficient price discovery, and transparency in transacting. This can create a vibrant gold ecosystem in India by enabling actual fungibility of gold. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; India is the second largest consumer of gold globally with annual gold demand of approximately 800-900 tonne and holds an important position in the global markets.
The country has remained a price-taker in the global markets, and at present, does not play any significant role in influencing the price-setting for the commodity.
A platform for EGR infuses transparency in gold spot transactions, enables India to emerge as the price setter, and would eliminate existing market inefficiencies.
