Hollywood star Bruce Willis&rsquo; daughter Tallulah Willis talked about how her father is dealing with dementia in a recent article published in Vogue. She recalled the first signs of her father&rsquo;s illness and wrote that &lsquo;it started out with a kind of vague unresponsiveness, which the family chalked up to Hollywood hearing loss: &lsquo;Speak up! &ldquo;Die Hard&rdquo; messed with Dad&rsquo;s ears.&rsquo;&rsquo; She mentioned that later that unresponsiveness broadened, and sometimes she took it personally. &lsquo;He had had two babies with my stepmother, Emma Heming Willis, and I thought he&rsquo;d lost interest in me,&rsquo; explained Tallulah. &lsquo;Though this couldn&rsquo;t have been further from the truth, my adolescent brain tortured itself with some faulty math: I&rsquo;m not beautiful enough for my mother, I&rsquo;m not interesting enough for my father,&rsquo; she wrote. &lsquo;I admit that I have met Bruce&rsquo;s decline in recent years with a share of avoidance and denial that I&rsquo;m not proud of. The truth is that I was too sick myself to handle it. I had managed to give my central dad-feeling canal an epidural; the good feelings weren&rsquo;t really there, the bad feelings weren&rsquo;t really there. But I remember a moment when it hit me painfully: I was at a wedding in the summer of 2021 on Martha&rsquo;s Vineyard, and the bride&rsquo;s father made a moving speech. Suddenly I realized that I would never get that moment, my dad speaking about me in adulthood at my wedding. It was devastating. I left the dinner table, stepped outside, and wept in the bushes,&rsquo; she wrote. Willis' daughter informed that the Hollywood star spends most of his time in the house and his mobility is fine. She shared how she started acting as a support to her dad who recognises her amid his health issues. &lsquo;He still knows who I am and lights up when I enter the room,&rsquo; shared Tallulah. &lsquo;I can bring him an energy that&rsquo;s bright and sunny, no matter where I&rsquo;ve been. In the past I was so afraid of being destroyed by sadness, but finally I feel that I can show up and be relied upon. Hollywood star Bruce Willis, who retired from acting last year due to aphasia, has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. His family shared the news on Thursday via a statement posted to the website for the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration. His wife Emma Heming, his ex-wife Demi Moore and their three daughters- three daughters: Rumer Willis, Scout Willis and Tallulah Willis- revealed that Willis's aphasia had progressed into a diagnosis of dementia. They wrote that problems with language and memory are just one of the symptoms of the disease Bruce faces.
&lsquo;Since we announced Bruce&rsquo;s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce&rsquo;s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD). Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis,&rsquo; the statement read.
Calling FTD a &lsquo;cruel disease&rsquo;, the family hopes that any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research.
&lsquo;Bruce always believed in using his voice in the world to help others, and to raise awareness about important issues both publicly and privately. We know in our hearts that &ndash; if he could today &mdash; he would want to respond by bringing global attention and a connectedness with those who are also dealing with this debilitating disease and how it impacts so many individuals and their families,&rsquo; the statement added.
&lsquo;Bruce has always found joy in life &ndash; and has helped everyone he knows to do the same. It has meant the world to see that sense of care echoed back to him and to all of us. We have been so moved by the love you have all shared for our dear husband, father, and friend during this difficult time. Your continued compassion, understanding, and respect will enable us to help Bruce live as full a life as possible,&rsquo; the family concluded.
In March 2022, the family announced that Bruce Willis would not return to acting as he was diagnosed with Aphasia, a condition where a person loses the ability to communicate.

For this to happen, in a correct and smooth way, there are important centres in the brain, located on the left side in most people, but maybe on the right side in left-handed people. If there is any damage to these centres, aphasia may occur.&nbsp;
Aphasia can be of different types:&nbsp;
The affected person may not be able to understand what is being said. the person may understand what is said, but may not know how to respond. He /she may know how to respond, but what is said is different from what he wanted to say. He/she may not be able to say anything at all despite wanting to do so, which may be very frustrating for the person. What causes aphasia?&nbsp;&nbsp;
Any damage to the area of the brain involved in speech and language can cause aphasia e.g., stroke or head injury or infections when it occurs suddenly.&nbsp;&nbsp;
It can also occur in tumours or be a part of a generalized disease process when it occurs gradually and progresses slowly.&nbsp;
Treatment&nbsp;
There is no specific treatment for aphasia. Aphasia therapy can be very helpful, where the patient is taught to use other means of communication by using gestures or pictures. In traumatic events and stroke, some recovery may occur with time.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;
