A bench of Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justices K Vinod Chandran and N V Anjaria on Tuesday took note of the urgent mentioning of the state&rsquo;s appeal against the High Court&rsquo;s July 21 verdict by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and said it will be listed for Thursday.
"It is a serious matter. The SLP (special leave petition) is ready. Please list it tomorrow. There is urgency... Still there are some important issues to be looked at," the law officer said.
The CJI referred to newspaper reports of eight persons being released from prison following the high court judgment.
On Monday, a special high court bench of Justices Anil Kilor and Shyam Chandak acquitted all the 12 accused, saying the prosecution utterly failed to prove the case and it was "hard to believe the accused committed the crime".
Of the 12, five had been sentenced to death and seven to life imprisonment by the special court. One of the death row convicts died in 2021.
More than 180 people were killed when seven blasts ripped through Mumbai local trains at various locations on the western line on July 11, 2006.
The high court allowed the appeals filed by the accused challenging their conviction and sentences imposed on them by a special court in 2015.
The high court verdict came as a major embarrassment to the Maharashtra ATS which probed the case. The agency claimed that the accused were members of the banned outfit Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and hatched the conspiracy with Pakistani members of the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
In its damning indictment of the prosecution's case, the high court declared all confessional statements of the accused as inadmissible and suggested "copying&rdquo;.
Further eroding the credibility of the confessions, the court said the accused had established that torture was inflicted upon them to extort these confessional statements.&nbsp;

In a relief to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court on Friday dismissed a petition challenging his victory in the 2024 assembly elections from the Nagpur South West seat.
A bench of Justice Pravin Patil dismissed the petition filed by Congress' Prafulla Vinodrao Gudadhe against Fadnavis's assembly poll victory claiming procedural lapses and corrupt practices earlier this year.
In the 2024 Maharashtra elections, Prafulla Vinodrao Gudadhe lost to Fadnavis in the Nagpur South-West constituency by 39,710 votes.
Gudadhe in the petition sought the high court to declare the poll result as null and void saying several mandatory provisions were not followed.
Gudadhe's advocate Pavan Dahat said the bench dismissed the petition on a technical ground that the petitioner was not physically present at the time of filing of the petition.
He said they are already in the process of filing an appeal in the Supreme Court against the HC order.
Along with Gudadhe's election petition, the high court on Friday also dismissed four other petitions challenging the election of BJP MLA Mohan Mate, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Deorao Bhongle and Kiritkumar Bhangadia.

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted bail to a 19-year-old student from Pune arrested for her social media post on Indo-Pak hostilities and ordered her immediate release while rebuking the Maharashtra government for its "radical" reaction to her post.
A vacation bench of Justices Gauri Godse and Somasekhar Sundaresan said it was "absolutely shocking" that the student has been treated like a "hardcore criminal" by the government.
The court ordered the student to be released on bail forthwith, noting that she should not have been arrested at all since she had deleted the post immediately, expressed remorse and apologised for the same.
This is not a case where the girl has to remain in custody anymore, the HC said, adding the girl has to be released on Tuesday itself.
"The applicant (girl) shall be released on bail by the Yerwada prison on Tuesday itself," the bench said.
The concerned officer of the prison is directed to ensure that she is released today evening itself so that she can appear for her college examination, the court said.
The court also suspended the rustication order passed by the girl's college and directed the institution to issue her a hall ticket so that she can appear for the examination.
The rustication order has been issued hurriedly without giving the student an opportunity to give her explanation, the HC said.
The student from Pune was arrested earlier this month for her social media post criticising the Indian government during the Indo-Pak hostilities amid Operation Sindoor.
She is presently in judicial custody.
While the girl had initially moved the HC challenging the decision taken by her college rusticating her, her lawyer Farhana Shah on Tuesday also filed a petition seeking quashing of the FIR and bail.
The court granted the girl bail and allowed her to appear for the ongoing examinations.
It also cautioned the girl from acting responsibly and refrain from uploading such posts on social media.
The bench said such a "radical" reaction from the state government was unwarranted and has turned a student into a criminal.
"This is an absolutely shocking case. Are the police bent upon ruining the girl's life? Is she a hardcore criminal?" the court remarked.
At the most, the girl's act of sharing such a post can be termed as an "act of indiscretion" by a young student, the bench said.
"The girl has posted something and then realised her mistake and apologised. Instead of giving her a chance to reform, the state government has arrested her and turned her into a criminal," it added.
The court questioned the conduct of the government and the college.
"Someone is expressing their opinion, and this is how you ruin her life? A student's life has been ruined," it said.
Additional government pleader P P Kakade said the girl's post was against the national interest.
The court, however, said national interest would not suffer because of a post uploaded by a student who has realised her mistake and apologised.
"How can the state arrest a student like this? Does the state want students to stop expressing their opinions? Such a radical reaction from the state will further radicalise the person," the court said.
The bench also rapped the college for rusticating the girl, saying that an educational institution's approach should be to reform, not punish.
The job of an educational institution is to not just impart academic education but also to help students reform, the court said, adding that the college ought to have given the girl an opportunity to explain.
"Instead of reforming her and making her understand, you have turned her into a criminal. You want the student to turn into a criminal?" the court asked.
It said the girl is at an age where mistakes are bound to happen and she had suffered enough.
The teen, in her plea, stated that the college's decision was arbitrary and a gross violation of her fundamental rights.
She requested the high court to quash the rustication, order her reinstatement, and allow her to appear for the semester exams scheduled to begin on May 24.
The second-year student of Information Technology contended that the rustication order passed by the Sinhgad Academy of Engineering, a private unaided college affiliated with the Savitribai Phule Pune University, was "arbitrary and unlawful".
The petitioner claimed she had reposted the social media post without ill intent and immediately apologised.
On May 7, the girl reposted a post on Instagram from an account called 'Reformistan', which criticised the Indian government for provoking a war against Pakistan.
Within two hours, she realised her mistake and deleted the post after receiving a barrage of threats.
In its May 9 rustication letter, the college stated that since the girl had brought disrepute to the institution, it was justified to preserve the institution's ethos.
It further said the petitioner had anti-national sentiments and posed a risk to the campus community and society.
The girl had to be escorted out of college due to protests against her, and she was arrested the same day by the Kondhwa police after an FIR was registered against her.
She is currently lodged in the Yerwada Prison in Pune in judicial custody, and a local court rejected her bail plea.

In a significant development in the divorce proceedings between Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma, the Bombay High Court has granted the couple's request to waive the mandatory six-month cooling-off period typically required after filing for divorce.
This decision allows the family court to fast-track the divorce proceedings, ensuring a resolution by March 20, ahead of Chahal&rsquo;s commitments with the Punjab Kings in the upcoming IPL 2025 season, which kicks off on March 22.
The legal update emerged from a ruling by a bench led by Justice Madhav Jamdar, who overturned an earlier decision from the Family Court.
The initial ruling had denied the couple&rsquo;s application to bypass the cooling period mandated under the Hindu Marriage Act. The couple, who wed in December 2020 and have been separated since June 2022, filed for divorce by mutual consent in February 2025, alongside a request to expedite the process.
Per Section 13B(2) of the Hindu Marriage Act, a cooling-off period is intended to allow couples time for potential reconciliation.
However, the court found this provision unnecessary given Chahal and Dhanashree's prolonged separation of over two years, deeming the prerequisite fulfilled in spirit.
Complications arose when the Family Court initially refused to waive the cooling period due to partial compliance with financial terms agreed upon by the couple.
According to the terms, Chahal was to provide Dhanashree a permanent alimony totaling Rs 4.75 crore; however, only Rs 2.37 crore had been transferred at that point. This non-compliance led to the initial rejection of the waiver request.
Despite these setbacks, the Bombay High Court acknowledged the considerable duration spent apart by Chahal and Dhanashree, and their mutual consent for divorce, which inclined the court&rsquo;s decision towards allowing the waiver.
Consequently, the Family Court has been directed to reach a decision on the divorce petition promptly, ensuring no interference with Chahal&rsquo;s participation in the IPL season.
As the cricket season approaches, this legal resolution provides a timely relief for Chahal, allowing him to focus on his professional commitments with the Punjab Kings.

The Bombay High Court has temporarily halted a lower court's directive to initiate legal proceedings against Madhabi Puri Buch, former head of market regulator SEBI, and five others, for a period of four weeks.
This order pertains to alleged market fraud and regulatory infractions.
Justice Shivkumar Dige, presiding over a single bench, remarked that the special court's decision made on March 1 lacked a detailed examination and did not specify the roles of those accused. Consequently, the High Court has stayed the order, allowing Sapan Shrivastava, the complainant, four weeks to submit an affidavit in response to the petitions.
The ruling was in response to submissions from Ms. Buch and three full-time SEBI directors&mdash;Ashwani Bhatia, Ananth Narayan, and Kamlesh Chandra Varshney.
Additionally, Bombay Stock Exchange&rsquo;s Managing Director and CEO, Ramamurthy, along with ex-chairman and Public Interest Director Pramod Agarwal, were also involved in the petition.
These individuals sought the dismissal of the special court's directive, which called on the Anti-Corruption Bureau to file charges regarding alleged fraud relating to a company listing on the BSE in 1994. This directive followed a reporter's complaint, which demanded an investigation into purported financial fraud, regulatory breaches, and corruption.
Special court judge Shashikant Eknathrao Bangar had stated there was initial evidence indicating regulatory mishaps and potential collusion, warranting an unbiased investigation. The judge emphasized the necessity of judicial intervention due to the lack of action from law enforcement and SEBI.
During an urgent hearing requested by Ms. Buch and the other directors, the High Court instructed the ACB to refrain from any action pending the hearing outcome. Solicitor-General Tushar Mehta represented the SEBI directors, arguing the lower court's order was flawed, illegal, and beyond its powers, claiming no valid case was presented.
In response, SEBI announced it would pursue appropriate legal measures to challenge the order, reinforcing its commitment to regulatory compliance. SEBI also noted the applicant's history of filing baseless litigations, which had previously resulted in dismissals and cost penalties.
The BSE criticized the reporter's allegations as baseless and intended to disrupt.

The order was issued on 10 February and made available on 13 March.

The case dates back to 2012 when the convict was booked for allegedly touching the girl's back and head and commenting that she had grown up.&nbsp;
A single bench of Justice Bharati Dangre, while setting aside the conviction, noted there was no sexual intent on the part of the convict and that his utterance indicate he had seen the victim as a child.
"In order to outrage the modesty of a woman, what is most important is having an intention to outrage the modesty. It is not the case of the prosecution that the accused did something more than what has been alleged, that is, moving his hand over the back and head of the victim.
"Neither the victim girl aged 12-13 years spoke of any bad intention on his part, but what she deposed is she felt bad or indicating some unpleasant act, which made her uncomfortable," the judge said in the order.
The HC further said the prosecution failed to produce any material to show there was a specific intention on part of the appellant to outrage the modesty of the girl.

The Bombay High Court has vacated the stay on trial in the 2010 killing of criminal lawyer Shahid Azmi and rejected a plea filed by an accused seeking a change of the trial court on the grounds of &ldquo;bias&rdquo;.
Azmi was shot dead in his office in suburban Kurla on February 11, 2010.
At the time of his death, Azmi represented many accused in the 7/11 train blasts cases, Malegaon 2006 bomb blasts cases, the Aurangabad arms haul case, and the Ghatkopar blasts case.
The prosecution case is that Azmi was killed at the behest of gangster Chhota Rajan.
The High Court had stayed the trial in September 2022 after an accused &ndash; Hasmukh Solanki &ndash; moved an application to transfer the case to another sessions judge.
A single bench of Justice P D Naik on February 7 vacated the stay order and rejected Solanki&rsquo;s plea seeking transfer of the case from the sessions judge in Mumbai, currently conducting the trial, to another sessions judge.
Solanki had alleged bias by the present judge.

The Bombay High Court on Jan 20 granted interim bail to Videocon Group founder Venugopal Dhoot nearly a month after he was arrested in the Videocon-ICICI Bank loan fraud case.&nbsp;
The court noted that the reason mentioned by the CBI for his arrest was 'quite casual and without any substance' and an investigating officer cannot arrest any accused as per his 'whims and fancies', according to PTI.
This is the second time the CBI has received flak from the court in this case.
On Jan 9, the same bench had come down heavily on the investigation authority for making the arrest of Chanda Kochchar and her husband in a casual and mechanical manner and without application of mind.

Former CEO of ICICI Bank Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar secured interim relief after the Bombay High Court granted them bail on 9 January 2023.
The court said that arrest of the Kochhars by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was not as per law, since it violated Section 41A of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). The section mandates sending notice for appearance before the police officer concerned.
The bench directed the duo to deposit a cash bail amount of Rs one lakh each. The couple's lawyer later said they would now initiate the process before the special CBI court for their release.
The HC said the duo shall cooperate with the probe and attend the CBI office as and when summoned. The court also asked the Kochhars to surrender their passports to the CBI.
The Kochhars were arrested on 23 December 2022 in the ICICI Bank-Videocon loan case. They are presently in judicial custody.
Apart from the Kochhars, the CBI has also arrested Videocon group founder Venugopal Dhoot in the case. He is also in judicial custody.

Former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh is likely to walk out of jail on Wednesday as the Bombay High Court on Tuesday refused to extend its stay on an order granting him bail in a corruption case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Justice M S Karnik had granted bail to the 73-year-old Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader on December 12, but stayed the order for 10 days as the CBI sought time to challenge it in the Supreme Court.
The probe agency moved the apex court but the appeal would be heard only in January 2023 as the court is closed for vacation.
Last week, the high court had extended the stay till December 27 on the CBI's request.
On Tuesday, the central agency sought another extension.
Deshmukh's lawyers Aniket Nikam and Inderpal Singh claimed that the CBI was trying to "overreach" the earlier order of the HC which had stated that under no circumstances another extension will be granted.

"They are failing to make out any urgency in the Supreme Court, and coming here seeking stay. This cannot be permitted," Nikam argued.
The vacation bench of the High Court, after hearing the arguments, said that "no further extension can be granted".
With the court refusing to extend the stay, Deshmukh could be released on bail on Wednesday, his lawyers told PTI.
The high court, while granting bail to Deshmukh, had noted that except for dismissed police officer Sachin Waze's statement, no testimony recorded by the CBI indicated that money was being extorted from bar owners in Mumbai at the behest of the NCP leader.
Deshmukh approached the high court after a special CBI court rejected his bail plea last month. He sought bail both on medical grounds and merits of the case.
He has been in jail since November 2021 after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested him in an alleged money laundering case.
In April this year, the CBI arrested him in a corruption case.
Deshmukh, who has denied the allegations levelled against him, is in judicial custody at the Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai.
In October, the high court had granted him bail in the ED case.
Former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh in March 2021 alleged that Deshmukh, the then home minister, had given a target to police officers to collect Rs 100 crore per month from restaurants and bars in Mumbai.
Former assistant police inspector Waze, who was arrested in the case of an explosives-laden vehicle found near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's house in Mumbai last year, also levelled similar allegations.
The high court in April 2021 directed the CBI to carry out a preliminary inquiry.
Based on this inquiry, the CBI registered an FIR against Deshmukh and others for alleged corruption and misuse of official powers.
The NCP on Tuesday welcomed the court's decision.
In a statement, Mahesh Tapase, chief spokesperson of the party, said, "It has been proved that Anil Deshmukh was wrongfully framed in a fake case and he will come out of the jail tomorrow after spending more than one year behind the bars. We will take his case to the people and make them aware of the injustice meted out to him.&rdquo; The allegations against Deshmukh were politically motivated and no "money trail" was found, he said.
&ldquo;The party extends its support to Deshmukh and we will continue to fight against the people who falsely framed him,&rdquo; Tapase added.

Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh, appearing for the NIA, had submitted that there was no evidence of Kazi's involvement in the planting of gelatin sticks in the SUV near 'Antilia' or of him being involved in Hiran's murder.
The evidence against him was of collecting crucial evidence, that of DVR of CCTV, without making official records like sealing and 'panchanama', and of destroying them, Singh had said.

20,000 mangrove trees to be cut for Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project

A division bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Abhay Ahuja allowed the plea filed by the NHSRCL seeking permission to cut the mangrove trees.

The Bombay High Court on Friday permitted the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) to cut around 20,000 mangrove trees in the city and neighbouring districts of Palghar and Thane for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project.
A division bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Abhay Ahuja allowed the plea filed by the NHSRCL seeking permission to cut the mangrove trees.
As per a 2018 order of the high court, there exists a "total freeze" on the destruction of mangroves across the state and permission has to be sought from the high court each time an authority wishes to fell mangroves for any public project.
As per the said order, a 50 m buffer zone must be created around the area that hosts the mangroves and no construction activity or dumping of debris can be permitted within this buffer zone.
In its petition filed in 2020, the NHSRCL had assured the court it would plant five times the total mangrove trees that were earlier proposed to be felled and the number would not be reduced for the same.

The plea was opposed by 'Bombay Environmental Action Group', an NGO, on the ground that no study was undertaken about the survival rate of saplings to be planted as a compensatory measure and the Environmental Impact Assessment report for felling trees has not been provided.
The NHSRCL had denied the objections raised by the NGO and claimed that it had availed required approvals for the felling of trees for the project of public importance and would compensate the loss occurring due to the same by planting of saplings as directed.
The 508-km high speed rail corridor between Ahmedabad and Mumbai is expected to cut travel time from six-and-a-half hours to two-and-a-half hours.
The bullet train project received a major push after the Eknath Shinde-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government came to power in June this year. The dispensation has given all approvals for this project, the foundation of which was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2017.

The woman, in her complaint, had alleged she was was treated properly for a month after marriage, but subsequently, was treated like a maid-servant.

If a married woman is asked to do household work for the family, the same cannot be equated to the work of a maid servant and would not amount to cruelty, the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court said while quashing a case lodged by a woman against her estranged husband and his parents for domestic violence and cruelty.
A division bench of Justices Vibha Kankanwadi and Rajesh Patil, on October 21, quashed the First Information Report lodged against the man and his parents.
The woman, in her complaint, had alleged she was was treated properly for a month after marriage, but thereafter, they began treating her like a maid servant.
She also claimed her husband and his parents, a month after the marriage, started demanding Rs 4 lakh to buy a four-wheeler. In her complaint, the woman said she was then subjected to mental and physical harassment by her husband over this demand.
The HC, in its order, noted the woman had merely stated she was harassed but had not specified any such act in her complaint.
"If a married lady is asked to do household work definitely for the purpose of the family, it cannot be said it is like a maid servant. If she had no wish to do her household activities, then she ought to have told it either prior to the marriage so that the bridegroom can rethink about the marriage itself or if it is after marriage, then such problem ought to have been sorted out earlier," the court said.
It further said mere use of the words harassment 'mentally and physically' is not sufficient to attract Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code unless such acts are described.
"Unless those acts are described, it cannot be concluded whether those acts amounted to harassment or subjecting a person to cruelty," the HC order stated.
The omnibus allegations the wife made against the husband would not attract the offence under the provision, the court said, and allowed the petition filed by the husband and his parents seeking to quash the case.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday will hear the plea filed by activist and an accused in the Bhima Koregaon-Elgar Parishad case seeking a permanent bail on medical grounds.

One of the accused in the case, tribal rights activist Father Stan Swamy, who was suffering from similar ailments as the petitioner, passed away even before the trial could start in 2021.

The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to list a medical bail plea for hearing on Tuesday filed by activist and an accused in the Bhima Koregaon-Elgar Parishad case, P Varavara Rao, challenging the Bombay High Court order rejecting his prayer for permanent medical bail in the matter.&nbsp;
A bench headed by Justice U.U. Lalit responded to Solicitor General Tushar Mehta who requested that he be allowed to place on record a compilation of documents and the matter be heard tomorrow.&nbsp;
"Allow me to place it on record and have it tomorrow. His interim protection is till tomorrow," Mehta told the bench, also comprising Justices S R Bhat and Sudhanshu Dhulia.&nbsp;
Senior advocate Anand Grover, appearing for Rao, said he has no objection to this. "Can it be taken up today? I am ready, my friend is ready. We can finish it today," Grover said.&nbsp;
In his plea filed through advocate Nupur Kumar against the April 13 order of the high court, Rao has said, "The petitioner is an 83-year-old renowned Telugu poet and orator, who has undergone over two years of incarceration as an under-trial, and is currently enlarged on bail on medical grounds by the Bombay High Court respectfully submits that any further incarceration would ring the death knell for him as an advancing age and deteriorating health are a fatal combination".&nbsp;
The plea said Rao has challenged the high court order as he was not granted an extension of bail despite his advanced age and precarious health condition, and his prayer to shift to Hyderabad was also denied.&nbsp;

He was arrested on August 28, 2018 from his Hyderabad residence and is an under-trial in the Bhima Koregaon case for which an FIR was lodged by Pune police on January 8, 2018 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).&nbsp;
The case pertains to alleged inflammatory speeches made at the Elgar Parishad conclave held in Pune on December 31, 2017, which, the police claimed, triggered violence the next day near the Koregaon-Bhima war memorial located on the outskirts of the western Maharashtra city.&nbsp;
The Pune police had also claimed that the conclave was organised by people with alleged Maoist links. Later, the National Investigation Agency took over the probe in the matter.&nbsp;
Initially, Rao said he was put under house arrest pursuant to an order of the apex court and ultimately, on November 17, 2018, he was taken into police custody and later, shifted to the Taloja jail. On February 22, 2021, the Bombay High Court had granted him bail on medical grounds and he was released from jail on March 6, 2021. &nbsp; On April 13, the high court had rejected the plea but extended the time for the activist to surrender before the Taloja prison authorities by three months, to enable him to undergo cataract surgery. It had also dismissed Rao's application seeking that he be permitted to stay in Hyderabad instead of Mumbai, while out on bail.&nbsp;

Forcibly kissing someone on the lips, and touching private parts are not unnatural offences under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. The Bombay High Court reportedly said this while granting bail to a man accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy.
The man was arrested last year after the boy's father filed a police complaint. The boy used to visit the accused man's shop in Mumbai for recharging an online game 'Ola Party', according to news agency PTI.
The boy claimed that one day when he visited the shop, he was forcibly kissed, and his private parts were touched. Subsequently, the man was booked under IPC Section 377, and some sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences, or POCSO, Act.
IPC 377 pertains to "carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman, or animal". It carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
Bombay High Court's Justice Anuja Prabhudessai said that the element of unnatural sex was not prima facie applicable. The judge also said that a medical test conducted on the boy did not support his statement of sexual assault.

In 2019, the Collegium had signed off on elevating her as a permanent judge but withdrew its decision after the controversial <a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/a-touch-without-sexual-intent-not-offence-under-pocso-act-high-court-1609169836811" target="_blank">POCSO rulings</a>.
Justice Ganediwala was appointed district judge in 2007. In 2019, she was appointed additional judge of <a href="https://www.editorji.com/topic/bombay-high-court-1525928082415" target="_blank">Bombay High Court</a> at Nagpur.
Additional judges to high courts are appointed either from the Bar directly or state judiciary for up to two years.&nbsp;

A single bench of Justice N W Sambre said the condition imposed on Aryan Khan while granting him bail that he has to appear before the NCB office every Friday is modified.
"The applicant (Aryan) shall attend the office of NCB Delhi as and when directed by the agency, provided the NCB issues a 72-hour notice to the applicant," Justice Sambre said.
The court also modified another condition laid down in the bail order that required him to furnish his itinerary to the NCB every time he travels out of Mumbai.
"The applicant need not submit his itinerary if he is travelling to Delhi for recording his statement. He shall submit his itinerary to the NCB in case of any other travel outside Mumbai," Justice Sambre said.

"The NCB's Mumbai office has now nothing to do with the case. My client (Aryan) has been cooperating with the probe and has, in fact, also appeared before the SIT probing the case and recorded his statement," Aryan Khan's counsel Amit Desai argued.
He said Aryan Khan has no hesitation to appear before the NCB's SIT at Delhi as and when summons are issued to him.

The Bombay High Court has adjourned the defamation case filed by lyricist Javed Akhtar against actor Kangana Ranaut till September 14.
Kangana had filed an appeal last month in which she challenged the defamation proceedings initiated earlier this year, saying the magistrate court had failed to apply its mind to the case.
Ranaut had said the court did not independently examine the complainant or the witnesses named in the complaint against her.

Javed Akhtar had filed a criminal complaint against Kangana in November last year before the Andheri metropolitan magistrate alleging that she made defamatory and baseless comments against him in a TV interview.
In December 2020, the court directed the Juhu police to conduct an inquiry into the veteran lyricist&rsquo;s complaint against Kangana.

After the police told the court that it was a defamation case, the court initiated criminal proceedings against Kangana and issued summons to her in February.

The Bombay High Court has adjourned the defamation case filed by lyricist <a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/javed-akhtar-current-filmmakers-are-clueless-about-how-to-use-songs-in-films-1628922196145" target="_blank">Javed Akhtar</a> against actor <a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/kangana-ranaut-starrer-thalaivii-to-release-in-theatres-very-soon-1629728113338" target="_blank">Kangana Ranaut</a> till September 14.
Kangana had filed an appeal last month in which she challenged the defamation proceedings initiated earlier this year, saying the magistrate court had failed to apply its mind to the case.
Ranaut had said the court did not independently examine the complainant or the witnesses named in the complaint against her.

Javed Akhtar had filed a criminal complaint against Kangana in November last year before the Andheri metropolitan magistrate alleging that she made defamatory and baseless comments against him in a TV interview.
In December 2020, the court directed the Juhu police to conduct an inquiry into the veteran lyricist&rsquo;s complaint against Kangana.

After the police told the court that it was a defamation case, the court initiated criminal proceedings against Kangana and issued summons to her in February.
Javed Akhtar, in his statement to the Bombay High Court, said that he met Kangana and her sister Rangoli in 2016. He added that he advised Kangana to settle issues with Hrithik Roshan as the controversy was maligning both their careers.
