41 airports across India get hoax bomb threat on email: report 

The airports in Chennai, Patna, Nagpur, Jaipur, Vadodara, Coimbatore and Jabalpur were among those that received the email threats.

Forty-one airports, including in Chennai, Patna and Jaipur, received bomb threat emails on Tuesday, prompting authorities to scramble contingency measures and carry out anti-sabotage checks that lasted hours, and each of them was found to be a hoax, official sources said.
Security was beefed up as agencies swept the terminals after the emails were received around 12.40 pm from the ID exhumedyou888@gmail.com.
The airports in Chennai, Patna, Nagpur, Jaipur, Vadodara, Coimbatore and Jabalpur were among those that received the email threats.
An online group called "KNR" is suspected to be behind these hoax threat emails. The group reportedly issued similar emails to several schools in the Delhi-National Capital Region on May 1, the sources said.
The emails received by the airports carried almost the identical message: "Hello, there are explosives hidden in the Airport. The bombs will soon explode. You will all die." The airports put into action contingency plans and carried out anti-sabotage checks following recommendations of their respective Bomb Threat Assessment Committees, the sources said.
At the Chennai airport, a Dubai-bound flight with 286 passengers was delayed as a result of the hoax threat.
Soon after receiving the email warning of a bomb on the aircraft, security agencies conducted a thorough search of the flight but found nothing suspicious. The flight was later cleared to proceed to its destination.
The Jaipur international airport authorities too mounted a thorough inspection after receiving the bomb threat email. Police and CISF personnel searched the premises but did not find anything.
Sources at the Mumbai airport said there was no impact on services as the threat was "non-specific".
Authorities at the Nagpur and Patna airports conducted thorough searches on their premises after receiving the threat but found nothing.
Patna airport director Anchal Prakash said, "A bomb threat through email was received at the Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport, besides 41 other airports. The Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) Meeting was convened&hellip; and it found the threat to be non-specific." All the airports reported the threat to be a hoax and passenger movements were kept unhindered to the best of the capacities, the sources said.
On Monday, the Delhi airport received an email around 9.30 am that warned of a bomb threat on a Dubai-bound flight but nothing suspicious was found during inspections.
Similar hoax emails were sent to several airports in April too, and Indian cyber security agencies are working to find the origin of these emails that have been sent from abroad.

Security officials from the Jaipur airport have confirmed that no bombs were found after a thorough search. "The airport was thoroughly checked but nothing suspicious has been found so far," police told news agency PTI.
Another bomb threat was received on a Dubai-bound flight, which was ultimately delayed. After an email warning about a bomb on the aircraft was received, security agencies conducted a thorough check of the international flight that was scheduled for departure around 10.30 am on Tuesday, they said.
The inspection revealed that the threat was a hoax and the flight has been cleared to proceed to its destination, they added.

Students and staff members have been evacuated, they said, adding that police teams along with bomb and dog squads have reached the schools.
"Four-five schools have received bomb threats. Police have reached the schools," Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph said.

More than 50 schools in Delhi received bomb threats on May 1 morning, triggering a wave of panic among staff and parents.
Delhi Public School in Noida, Dwarka, and Vasant Kunj, Mother Marry School in East Mayur Vihar, Sanskriti School, Amity School in Pushp Vihar and DAV School in South West Delhi received bomb threats through email.
The police were tipped off around 6 am, following which several fire tenders and a bomb disposal squad were rushed to the spot.
Police said that based on an initial investigation, it seemed that the mail was sent to many places and followed the same pattern. The search team hasn't found anything suspicious yet.
A similar bomb threat was raised in February at Delhi Police School in RK Puram that later turned out to be a hoax.
Noida Police said that classes have been suspended in DPS, Noida and police force has been deployed.
"Taking immediate cognizance of the information, checking is being done around the school by the police force. Other necessary measures are also being taken," the Noida Police said in a brief statement.
More schools are said to have received a similar threat mail and it is suspected that one person was behind it all, an officer said.
Security agencies, including Delhi Police Special Cell, are looking to find the source of the email.&nbsp;

Panic gripped the Ram Lal Anand College of the Delhi University after a staff member received a bomb threat message on his mobile phone on Thursday morning, police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Rohit Meena said the staff received a message on WhatsApp at 9:34 am.
Subsequently, police, along with an ambulance, the Bomb Detection Team and the Bomb Disposal Squad, rushed to the college and evacuated the students and staff, he said.

Museums in Kolkata and Goa received bomb threats over email on January 5, which triggered search operations.
A three-hour-long search was carried out at Kolkata&rsquo;s iconic Indian Museum, however, no explosive could be found.
Public entry inside the museum was also put on hold for the day.
"The threat mail stated that several bombs were planted inside the Indian Museum, and those would explode any moment," an officer said.
Personnel of the bomb squad of Kolkata Police started the search and sanitisation operation at the museum around 11.30 am.
Apart from the bomb squad, sniffer dogs, a quick response team (QRT) and a huge contingent of police were positioned in and around the building in central Kolkata, he said.
Similarly, Goa police's bomb disposal squad checked for explosives at the National Museum of Customs and GST but found nothing. The police confirmed that the email was a hoax.
"We immediately approached Panaji police station with a complaint, following which the bomb disposal squad was called in, and the museum was checked for suspicious objects," an officer said.

Earlier, Delhi Public School and The Indian School had received similar threats, which were later declared to be hoaxes.
