A bomb threat received through email triggered panic in five private schools of Delhi on Wednesday morning, prompting authorities to immediately evacuate the premises for a thorough check, officials said.
This was the third consecutive day that education institutes in the national capital were targeted with bomb threats, which, in the past two days, turned out to be hoaxes.
A call about the email threatening to blow up St Thomas School in Dwarka was received at 5.26 am by the fire control, Vasant Valley School in Vasant Kunj got it at 6.30 am, Mother International in Hauz Khas at 8.12 am and Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar at 8.11 am, the fire services officer said.
Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate also received a threatening email, a senior police officer said, adding the school was thoroughly checked and nothing suspicious has been found so far.
In a mail to the parents, the school authorities said, "Due to a potential bomb threat received this morning, and as advised by the police, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya will remain closed today. A Bomb Disposal Squad is conducting a full sanitisation of the premises." For St Thomas School, this was a second bomb threat in less than 24 hours.
In total, 10 bomb threat emails have been received by nine schools in the city.
Staff staying in these schools overnight were immediately taken to safety as a precautionary measure, as teams of Delhi Police, bomb disposal squad, dog squad and cyber experts rushed in for a thorough search.
Nothing suspicious has been found so far, the officer said.

A man, who allegedly made the call in an inebriated state, has been traced to Hyderabad and apprehended from there, they said.

"The office, located on the 11th floor of a multi-storey commercial building in Pune's Mundhwa area, received a call late Sunday night that a bomb was kept in the office premises," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone V) Vikrant Deshmukh said.
After being alerted, Pune police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad reached the spot and carried out extensive searches, he said.
"The call later turned out to be a hoax. The caller has been traced to Hyderabad and apprehended. He allegedly made the call in an inebriated condition," the official said.
Further investigation is on into the incident, he added.

A Goa-bound chartered flight from Russian capital Moscow with 240 passengers on board was diverted to Uzbekistan in the wee hours of Saturday following a bomb threat, police said.
The flight was scheduled to land at the Dabolim airport in South Goa at 4.15 am, a senior police official said.
The flight (AZV2463) operated by Azur Air was diverted before it entered the Indian air space, he said.
"It was diverted after an email was received at 12.30 am by the Dabolim airport director that mentioned about a bomb being planted on the plane," the official said.

 A call about a bomb threat sparked panic at a hotel in Gurugram on Tuesday and a search is on to trace it, police said.
The call was received at Leela Hotel in the Ambiance Mall complex around 11:35 am. The police were immediately informed following which bomb disposal and dog squads reached the hotel and evacuated it, sources said. A senior police officer said that the threat call to the hotel was made from a mobile number which was found switched off.
"The search is on and the police are trying to identify the caller," the official added.

The caller was found to be a man with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) admitted in a hospital in Sector 47, police said.

&ldquo;Nothing suspicious was found in the hotel premises and the call was a hoax made by a mentally challenged man.

A call about a bomb on Tuesday sent people in panic at The Leela Hotel and police scampering to trace it.
The call was received at The Leela Hotel located in the Ambiance Mall complex around 11.35 am.
The hotel immediately informed the police, which dispatched bomb disposal and dog squads and evacuated the hotel, sources said.
A senior police officer said that mobile which was used to make the call was found switched off when they tried to callback.
They traced the mobile&rsquo;s location in a hospital in Sector 47, belonging to a mental patient who is undergoing treatment.

The email had been labelled a hoax, with a police report saying that it looked like "mischief".

Hours after an e-mail with a bomb threat was sent to a Delhi school, triggering panic and e the police say, it appears to be a hoax after a thorough search.&nbsp;
Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Chandan Chowdhary said, "The school received the e-mail regarding the bomb threat at 10.49 am on Wednesday. They then informed the Defence Colony police station following which the security personnel reached the spot and immediately evacuated the school.
"We deployed our bomb squads and also informed the Special Cell and the Special Branch. The SWAT team is also conducting searches inside the premises," he said.
Chowdhary further said that the police force has so far conducted two rounds of search and that the third round is underway.
"We are looking for the source of the e-mail. In November last year, the school received a similar mail which was sent via a German server," he said.
The DCP, however, said the e-mail threat appears to be a hoax.
Notably, a similar e-mail was sent to the same school back in November 2022.&nbsp;
