Multiple institutions, including the Delhi Secretariat, Delhi Assembly, Red Fort and two schools in the national capital, received bomb threats via email on Monday, which were later declared hoax, officials said.
An official of the Delhi Fire Services confirmed that Delhi Secretariat, Delhi Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan and Air Force Bal Bharti School on Lodhi Road received bomb threats.
The threat emails were also received on the official ID of the Delhi Assembly and its Speaker at 8 am, reportedly from the Khalistan National Army, sources said.
Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta asked the Delhi Police for immediate appropriate action on the bomb threat received on his personal email id.
"The Speaker, Delhi Legislative Assembly has desired that immediate necessary appropriate action be taken in the matter and an investigation be carried out to trace the source of these emails keeping in view the serious warnings about the bomb blast threats to Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat and Speaker in person," the Speaker office in a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner said.
The threatening emails mention &ldquo;Delhi banega Khalistan&rdquo; (Delhi will become Khalistan) and read that there will be blasts in Delhi Army School, Red Fort and Metros in the next three days.
The emails claimed a blast at the Delhi Army school at 1.11 pm, Vidhan Sabha at 3.11 pm and Red Fort at 9.11 am today, they said.
After receiving the threatening emails, the administrations of both schools informed authorities in the morning, a senior police officer said.
As a precautionary measure, the premises were evacuated, and thorough search operations were carried out, the officer said.
"After nothing suspicious was found, it was declared a hoax," the officer added.
An Aam Aadmi Party leader and former MLA, Dilip K Pandey, in a post on X said, "Today, I received a bomb threat on my personal email ID, and since the matter was related to public safety, I have immediately forwarded the email to Delhi Police."
Upon receiving the information, teams from the Delhi Police, the bomb disposal squad, dog squad and Delhi Fire Services rushed to the spots and cordoned off the areas around the schools and other locations.
"We are verifying the source of the emails and further investigation is underway," the officer added.
The cyber cell has been roped in to trace the origin of the emails and identify the sender. Search operations are continuing.

At Amargarh town, a dispute broke out with members of a wedding procession over taking the vehicle through the route. The argument escalated into a scuffle and physical assault, the police said.&nbsp;
Both sides sustained minor injuries and underwent medical examination. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against the accused. A cross non-cognisable report (NCR) has also been filed against the father and son on a complaint by the other side, the police said.&nbsp;
Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Shankar Prasad said a video of the incident had gone viral. He said the procession was passing through a route when the father and son attempted to drive their four-wheeler through it. They were asked to take an alternate way, following which the two sides clashed.&nbsp;
Police have taken legal action against both parties and arrested one accused in connection with the case, the officer added.&nbsp;

Responding to media reports that suggested a crash involving the LCA Tejas aircraft, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on Monday clarified that no such crash had taken place and that the incident was limited to a minor technical issue on the ground. It emphasised that there was no airborne accident.
In a filing with the stock exchange, HAL said, "HAL acknowledges the recent media reports on the LCA Tejas incident and wishes to provide factual clarification. There has been no reported crash of the LCA Tejas. The event in question was a minor technical incident on the ground. LCA Tejas maintains one of the world's best safety records among contemporary fighter aircraft. As a standard operating procedure, the issue is being analysed in depth, and HAL is working closely with the Indian Air Force (IAF) for a speedy resolution."
Earlier, on February 13, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh had shared an update on the progress of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mark 1A programme. Speaking to ANI on Friday, he said five engines are currently available and five aircraft are already flying.
He noted that production has largely stabilised for Indian vendors as well as the main manufacturer, HAL, and is expected to improve further once engine supplies stabilise. He also pointed out that while weapon trials have been successful, certain requirements of the Indian Air Force have not yet been fully met.
Highlighting the need for further refinement, he said some operational requirements still require improvement. However, with a planned order of 180 aircraft, the system is expected to evolve over time to fully meet the Air Force&rsquo;s needs.
"On LCA Mark 1A, the five engines are available, and five aircraft are flying. Once this engine supply line stabilises, the production seems to have stabilised in any case, as far as the Indian vendors and the system and the integrator, which is HAL, are concerned. On the acceptance by the Air Force, there are some areas where the level of some of the requirements that the Air Force had is not fully met, perhaps. Although the weapons trials have been successful," the Defence Secretary said.
He reiterated that certain operational requirements still need improvement but expressed confidence that the large order size would allow the platform to mature further.
"However, there are issues with some of the ORs made available to HAL... The idea is that with a 180-aircraft order, over time, they should be able to really perfect it and make it meet the entire requirements of the Air Force," he said.
Earlier this month, on February 5, HAL had confirmed that five LCA Mk1a fighter jets are fully ready for delivery, while nine additional aircraft have already been built and flown.
In a statement, the public sector aerospace and defence company assured that it remains on track to meet the projected guidance for the current financial year.
"HAL confirms that five aircraft are fully ready for delivery, incorporating major contracted capabilities in accordance with the agreed specifications. An additional nine aircraft have already been built and flown. Upon receipt of engines from GE, these aircraft will be made ready for delivery," the company said.

From there, the prime minister will undertake a metro ride till Meerut South station and at around 1 pm, he will inaugurate and dedicate to the nation various development projects worth around Rs 12,930 crore in Meerut.
Modi will also address the gathering on the occasion, said a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office.
The prime minister will dedicate to the nation the entire 82 Km Delhi&ndash;Meerut Namo Bharat corridor. He will inaugurate the remaining sections of India's first Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), which include the 5 km section between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi and the 21 km section between Meerut South and Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh.
With a design speed of 180 km per hour, Namo Bharat is India's first regional rapid transit system. It will connect major urban centres such as Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar and Meerut with Delhi at a faster pace, the statement said.
The Sarai Kale Khan, the originating station of the corridor, is one of the four Namo Bharat stations to be commissioned with this inauguration.
It is strategically located as a major multi-modal hub, seamlessly connecting Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, Delhi Metro's pink line, Veer Haqeeqat Rai ISBT, and the ring road. The other three Namo Bharat stations, Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul and Modipuram, being commissioned are in Meerut.
The prime minister will also inaugurate the Meerut Metro services between Meerut South and Modipuram, operating on the same infrastructure as Namo Bharat, in a first-of-its-kind initiative in the country.
The Meerut Metro will be India's fastest metro system with a maximum operational speed of around 120 kmph. The metro will cover the entire stretch in just 30 minutes, with all scheduled stoppages en route.
This seamless integration of Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro on the same infrastructure will ensure high-speed intercity travel and swift intra-city movement, setting a benchmark for integrated urban and regional transit in India. It will decongest road traffic and consequently lead to a significant reduction in vehicular carbon dioxide emissions.
These projects will provide further impetus to the prime minister's vision of transforming urban mobility and ensuring seamless, efficient, modern and sustainable public transport systems that improve ease of living for citizens, the statement said.

In an extraordinary order, the Supreme Court on Friday directed deployment of serving and former district judges to assist the Election Commission in the controversy-ridden special intensive revision of electoral rolls in West Bengal.
Ruing the "unfortunate blame game" between the EC and the TMC-led government, a bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi passed a slew of fresh directions to ensure completion of the special intensive revision (SIR) process in the state.
The bench ordered deputation of judicial officers for adjudication of claims and objections of persons put under logical discrepancy list.
It asked the Calcutta High Court chief justice to spare judicial officers and find former judges to assist in SIR work as it took serious note of state government not sparing enough grade 'A' officers for the revision exercise.
The top court permitted the EC to publish a draft list of voters in the state by February 28 while allowing the poll panel to also issue supplementary lists later.
The bench directed district collectors and SPs of the state to provide logistical support and security to the judicial officers deputed for the ongoing SIR work while making it clear that orders passed by judicial officers will be deemed as orders of court.
It said judicial officers will be assisted by micro-observers and state government officials in the SIR process.
The top court also directed the Calcutta High Court Chief Justice to hold a meeting by Saturday of all the stakeholders including the chief secretary, DGP and an official from the EC.
Logical discrepancies in progeny linking with the 2002 voter list include instances of a mismatch in the parent's name and the age difference between a voter and their parent being less than 15 years or more than 50 years.

A group of Indian Youth Congress workers on Friday staged a dramatic 'shirtless protest' at an AI Impact Summit exhibition hall, walking around holding T-shirts with slogans against the government and the India-US trade deal printed on them, before being whisked away by the security personnel.
A senior police officer said that around 10 people were detained when they were protesting at the AI Summit.
"They were removed immediately and were taken to Tilak Marg police station. No one will be allowed to breach the law and order situation," the officer said.
The BJP slammed the Congress for its youth wing workers' protest, alleging that a "ruckus" was created at the venue to sabotage India's global image at the behest of former party chief Rahul Gandhi.
The protesters marched inside Exhibition Hall No 5, wearing or holding white T-shirts with images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump printed on them, along with slogans such as "India-US Trade Deal", "Epstein Files" and "PM is compromised", soon resulting in a commotion.
The ensuing melee witnessed heated exchanges between some of the attendees of the mega event and a few protesters.
Posting a video of the protest, the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) said the question being asked is: Why exactly did young Congress workers need to raise their voices against the "compromised PM inside the AI Summit."
"In a country where the media, the system, and the prime minister himself have already been compromised, what platform remains to raise a voice against it? If we protest on the streets, we are stopped. Under the guise of IT Rules, social media posts against the government are taken down. The media has become the government's mouthpiece. So, what avenue remains open to us?" the Youth Congress asked.
"We are not against the AI Summit. We are against the compromises being made with India's interests. When the country's farmers are being bargained away, anti-India trade agreements are being signed, and the youth is kept unemployed while being dragged into politics of hate, should we stay silent?" it asked.
It said India belonged to its 140 crore citizens.
"If we know how to walk the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi, we also know how to walk the path shown by Sardar Bhagat Singh. We will never allow the interests of the country's youths and farmers to be bargained away. Inquilab Zindabad," the IYC said in its post in Hindi.
A police officer said the incident took place around 12.30 pm.
"The protestors registered online to get QR codes to enter the summit venue. They wore sweaters and jackets above T-shirts with objectionable content printed on them. They removed the jackets near the lobby of Hall No 5 and held a protest there," the officer said.
He said the protesters were immediately detained. "We are taking appropriate legal action against them. Some of them are yet to be identified. Efforts are on to identify them," he said.
A Delhi Police personnel on duty said they have heightened security inside the halls after the "unfortunate episode".
The protest, which lasted a few minutes before the group was bundled out of the hall, caught the guests and other visitors by surprise, many of whom watched the unfolding scenes in disbelief, given the significance of the AI Summit that India is hosting.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the AI Impact Summit, which is being held from February 16-20 at Bharat Mandapam and is being attended by several heads of state, global AI leaders, academicians and researchers, heads of global tech giants and philanthropists.
After being whisked away from the hall, the protesters marched towards the lobby, stood against a massive backdrop mounted there and shouted slogans against the government.
A student from Ludhiana who visited the Impact Arena at the summit on Friday said that when general visitors register through the summit website, a QR code comes in their email, which carries the name and identity of their organisation or institution. This QR code is used to enter the Bharat Mandapam premises, he said.

India on Friday joined the US-led strategic alliance called 'Pax Silica' that aims to build a resilient supply chain for critical minerals and artificial intelligence with both sides projecting it as an initiative to cut over-dependence on one country, seen as an oblique apparent reference to China.
US Under Secretary for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg, welcoming India to the coalition, flagged challenges arising out of "massively over-concentrated" supply chains for critical minerals and "threats of economic coercion and blackmail".
Though Helberg didn't name any country, it was almost clear that his remarks were directed at China's export controls on rare earth minerals and related products.
China has been controlling the flow of rare earth minerals which have a wide range of applications including in electronics, clean energy, aerospace, automotive, and defence sectors.
US Ambassador Sergio Gor, welcoming India to Pax-Silica, said the country brings strength to the coalition.
"Policies that will reinforce US-India tech cooperation will power AI innovation and adoption for years to come. We can share trusted AI technology with the world and especially with partners like India," he said.
"And critically, India brings strength. Peace doesn't come from hoping adversaries will play fair. We all know they won't. Peace comes through strength. India understands this. India understands strong borders," he said.
"India understands this part of the world. That strength, that sovereignty is exactly what Pax-Silica amplifies. Because here's the truth, strength multiplies when it's connected."
India signed a pact to formally join the Pax Silica at a ceremony held at the AI Impact summit. It was attended by Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, Helberg and Gor.
In his address, Vaishnaw framed the moment as one that transcends a ceremonial signing.
"We are not just holding a summit; we are building the future," he said, emphasising that new foundations and new opportunities are being created for the younger generation.
He underscored India's growing semiconductor capabilities, stating, "Today, India's talented engineers are designing the world's most advanced two-nanometer chips. The semiconductor industry will require around one million new skilled professionals, and this is a very big opportunity for India."
New Delhi's decision to join the coalition came amid efforts by both sides to finalise the proposed trade deal and move forward on several other initiatives to solidify bilateral ties after a period of severe strain.
"For too long, we have allowed the foundations of our economic security to drift. We find ourselves grappling with a global supply chain that is massively over-concentrated," Helberg said.
"We watch as our friends and allies face daily threats of economic coercion and blackmail, forced to choose between their sovereignty and their prosperity."
Helberg said the US and India are affirming their embrace of a pro-innovation approach to AI and forging a supply chain for a solid foundation for prosperity.
"So today, as we signed the Pax-Silica declaration, we say no to weaponised dependency, and we say no to blackmail. And together, we say that economic security is national security."
"But we must be precise about what that word means. There are some who use the words like global governance and sovereignty in the same breath, just like Orwell used," he said.
The senior Trump administration official added: "We are building a new architecture that diffuses intelligence, placing the awesome power of AI into the palm of our people's hands and unleashing a wave of unprecedented possibility."
In his remarks, Gor said Pax-Silica will define the 21st century economic and technological order and said India will play a key role in the new initiative.
"India's entry into Pax-Silica isn't just symbolic. It's strategic. It's essential. India is a nation with deep talent, deep enough to rival challengers," he said.
"India's engineering depth offers critical capabilities for this vital coalition. In addition to talent, India has made important strides towards critical mineral processing capacity, and that's something that we're fully engaged on also," he said.
The US ambassador also spoke about the "limitless potential" for cooperation between India and the US.
"From the trade deal to Pax-Silica to defence cooperation, the potential for our two nations to work together is truly limitless. And I aim to fulfill that over the next three years that I'm here," he said.
Gor also made a mention of the proposed India-US trade pact.
"Earlier this month, we concluded the interim trade agreement, a deal that shapes the economic contours of the Indo-Pacific. We overcame friction points that had held us back for far too long," he said.
"That agreement wasn't just about trade flows or tariff schedules. It was about two great democracies saying we will build together, not just buy from one another. And now today, we take the next step," he said.
The US envoy described Pax-Silica as a "coalition of capabilities" that replaces "coercive dependencies with a positive sum alliance of trusted industrial bases."
"We welcome India joining to co-found the future. Pax Silica is about whether free societies and it will control the commanding heights of the global economy," he said.
"It's about whether innovation happens in Bengaluru and Silicon Valley or in surveillance states that use technology to monitor and control their people. We choose freedom. We choose partnership. We choose strength. And today, with India's entry into Pax Silica, we choose to win," he added.
Pax Silica was launched in December to build a secure, resilient, and innovation-driven supply chain for critical minerals and artificial intelligence (AI).

The declaration lays out a shared vision of deep economic and technology cooperation across supply chains -- from raw materials through semiconductors and AI infrastructure -- and commitment to mutual prosperity and security.

Sirsa alleged that senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi orchestrated the demonstration and led the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) workers to behave in a "shameful" manner in front of foreign guests.
Reacting to the incident, Sirsa said, "Today, Rahul Gandhi made the IYC workers protest at the summit" and claimed that they removed their clothes and dance in front of international attendees.
"This is a very shameful act,&rdquo; the minister said.
Sirsa further alleged that Gandhi was "perhaps not even aware of how far the Congress has fallen". He claimed that Gandhi was encouraging such acts in front of foreign guests "to satisfy his greed for power".
While protesting against governments is a democratic right, the minister added that such a low mentality reflects the current state of the Congress.
"The Gandhi family should think about how low the Congress has fallen. They have forgotten how to respect the country in front of foreign guests. They have forgotten these values. We are very sorry about this," Sirsa said.
A group of IYC workers on Friday staged a dramatic 'shirtless protest' at an AI Impact Summit exhibition hall, walking around holding T-shirts with slogans against the government and the India-US trade deal printed on them, before being whisked away by security personnel.
A senior Delhi Police officer said around 10 people were detained when they were protesting at the summit.
"They were removed immediately and were taken to Tilak Marg police station. No one will be allowed to breach the law and order situation," the officer said.
The India AI Impact Summit 2026 is being held from February 16 to February 20 at Bharat Mandapam and was inaugarated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi , with several heads of state, global AI leaders, academicians, researchers, global technology leaders and researchers attending the event.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should scrap the Indo-US trade deal, which he described as being against the interests of Indian farmers.
Addressing the 'Kisan Mahachaupal' farmers' rally in Bhopal, Gandhi likened the interim trade deal to an arrow piercing the hearts of Indian farmers.
"After the US Supreme Court ruling on the trade deal, I challenge PM Modi to scrap it...but he won't be able to do so," the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said.
"The Indo-US trade deal is against the interests of our farmers and was done by PM Modi under the pressure of US President Donald Trump because of Epstein files and to save industrialist Adani," he alleged.
The Congress leader also accused PM Modi of agreeing to sign the Indo-US trade deal without taking Union ministers Rajnath Singh (Defence), Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Agriculture) and Nitin Gadkari (Road Transport and Highways) into confidence.
"This is not a deal, but an arrow struck in the hearts of the country's farmers," Gandhi said.
He also alleged that through the trade deal, the PM has compromised the interests of India's agriculture, data, textile and import sectors.
Gandhi said he was not allowed to speak in the Lok Sabha after the President's address.
On former Army chief Gen M M Naravane's memoir, the Congress leader said the decision to go to war is political, and not a military one.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who was also present at the event, said the PM was coward, and added that the Indo-US trade deal shows the government's surrender.

Two people have been taken into custody, they said. The incident took place under the Ecotech-1 police station limits around 10 am when three men allegedly opened fire at the victim, identified as Nitin, a resident of Luksar village, they said.&nbsp;
According to police, the attack was captured on CCTV cameras. The footage purportedly shows two men firing at Nitin, and seconds later a third person joining them in assaulting him as he tried to save himself.&nbsp;
In the video, one of the attackers is also seen pointing a gun at a woman who stepped out of her house after hearing the gunshots.&nbsp;
Sudhir Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida), said, "On Tuesday, Sachin and others fired upon Nitin, a resident of Luksar village, under the limits of Ecotech-1 police station. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of old enmity."&nbsp;
He said the injured man was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he died during treatment. Senior police officials and a forensic team inspected the spot.&nbsp;
A case has been registered based on a complaint lodged by the victim's family, and multiple police teams have been formed to probe the matter.&nbsp;
"Acting swiftly after examining the CCTV footage, police have taken two persons into custody. Further legal proceedings are underway and efforts are on to apprehend the remaining accused," the Additional DCP said. Further investigation is in progress, police added.

Delhi Police has invoked rioting and related provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against eight Indian Youth Congress members, including president Uday Bhanu Chib, for their shirtless protest during the India AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam.

Delhi Police has added charges of rioting against the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) members arrested in connection with the shirtless protest during the AI Summit in New Delhi last week, an official said on Tuesday.
Eight IYC members, including its president Uday Bhanu Chib, have been arrested so far. Police have added sections 191(1) (rioting) and 192 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot- if rioting be committed; if not committed) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in the case.
Addressing a press conference, Special Commissioner of Police (Crime and Police Management &amp; Media Cell) Devesh Chandra Srivastva described the accused as 'aggressive elements' and said that a premeditated attempt was made to breach the security cordon in the presence of dignitaries, delegates and visitors attending the international event.
"On February 20, 2026, while the India AI Impact Summit was underway at Bharat Mandapam, a premeditated attempt was made to breach the security cordon in the presence of dignitaries, delegates and visitors attending the international event. The aggressive elements were immediately overpowered. During the process of restraining them, some police personnel deployed on duty sustained injuries," he said.
He added that during the course of investigation, many individuals were seen in CCTV footage from the event venue and surrounding areas.
"The involvement of several other persons has also been detected, who were allegedly assisting the aggressive elements in various ways in carrying out the act," the Special CP said.
He said to unearth the entire conspiracy, continuous coordination is being maintained with police authorities of other states and raids are being carried out.
"During investigation, Sections 191(1) and 192 of the BNS have also been added. Based on the investigation so far, it has emerged that the offence was committed as part of a deep-rooted conspiracy, and substantial evidence in this regard has been obtained," he said.
Considering the multi-state ramifications of the case, the underlying financial and logistical networks among the accused, and the need for a comprehensive probe, further investigation has been transferred to the Inter-State Cell of the Crime Branch, Srivastva added.
According to police, additional sections under the BNS, including 196 (promoting enmity between different groups and acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and 197 (assertions prejudicial to national integration), have been invoked in the FIR. Both carry a jail term of up to three years.
Charges of criminal conspiracy, obstruction of a public servant in discharge of duty, disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant, unlawful assembly and common intention had already been added to the case.
On Friday, the group of IYC workers staged a dramatic protest inside Hall No. 5 of the summit venue by removing their shirts to reveal T-shirts printed with slogans against the government and the India-US interim trade deal, before being whisked away by security personnel.
Police said the accused had registered online and obtained QR codes to gain entry into the venue.
The incident triggered a political slugfest, with the BJP calling it a "shameful act to tarnish India's image on the global stage", and the IYC defending it as a "peaceful" demonstration aimed at safeguarding national interests.

The Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal of Kerala government to change the name of the state to Keralam, Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at its first meeting held at Seva Teerth, the new PMO complex.
The Union Cabinet chaired by the prime minister approved the proposal for alterating the name of state of Kerala as 'Keralam', Vaishnaw said.
After approval of Union Cabinet, the president of India will refer a Bill, namely the Kerala (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2026 to the State Legislative Assembly of Kerala for expressing its views under proviso to Article 3 of the Constitution of India.
After receipt of the views of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, the government of India will obtain the recommendation of the president for introduction of the Kerala (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2026 to alter the name of Kerala as 'Keralam' in Parliament, an official release said.
The Legislative Assembly of Kerala passed a resolution on June 24, 2024 to alter the name of Kerala to 'Keralam'.
"The name of our State is 'Keralam' in Malayalam Language. States were formed on the basis of language on the 1st day of November, 1956. The Kerala Piravi Day is also on the 1st day of November.
"Since the time of National Independence Struggle, there has been a strong demand for the formation of United Kerala for the people speaking Malayalam language. But in the First Schedule to the Constitution the name of our State is recorded as 'Kerala'. This Assembly unanimously appeals to the Central Government to take urgent steps as per Article 3 of the Constitution for modifying the name as 'Keralam'", the Kerala Assembly resolution read.
Thereafter, the Kerala government requested the central government to take necessary steps to amend the First Schedule to the Constitution by altering the name of 'Kerala' as 'Keralam' according to Article 3 of the Constitution.
The Article 3 of the Constitution provides for alteration of names of existing states. According to Article 3, Parliament may by law alter the name of any state.
Further proviso to Article 3 states that no Bill for the purpose shall be introduced in either House of Parliament except on the recommendation of the president and unless where the proposal contained in the Bill affects the area, boundaries or name of any of the states, the Bill has been referred by the president to the legislature of that state for expressing its views thereon within such period as may be specified in the reference or within such further period as the president may allow and the period so specified or allowed has expired.
The matter regarding alteration of the name Kerala as Keralam was considered in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and with the approval of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the draft note for the Cabinet for the alteration of name of Kerala as Keralam was circulated to the Department of Legal Affairs and Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice for their comments.

All seven persons on board an air ambulance were killed after the aircraft crashed near Simaria in Jharkhand&rsquo;s Chatra district, and their bodies have been brought to a hospital for post-mortem examination, officials said on Tuesday.
The Beechcraft C90 air ambulance, operated by Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd, was en route to Delhi from Ranchi when it crashed on Monday evening in the Bariatu Panchayat area of Simaria, located deep inside a forest, killing all seven onboard, including two pilots.
"We have brought all the seven bodies for post-mortem at Sadar Hospital, Chatra. The crash is being investigated," an official told PTI.
The aircraft took off from Ranchi airport at 7.11 pm and went missing around 7.30 pm. It lost contact with the air traffic control about 20 minutes after departure, he said.
Ranchi airport director Vinod Kumar said inclement weather could be a possible reason behind the crash, though the exact cause would be ascertained after a detailed probe.
Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari said the state government will conduct a probe into how permission was given to the aircraft to fly during &ldquo;inclement weather&rdquo;. He also said proper compensation would be given to the kin of the deceased.
Terming the crash extremely unfortunate, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth said unpleasant weather could be one of the reasons, which will be determined by the probe.
In a post on X, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar condoled the deaths.
"The news of the air ambulance accident is extremely heartbreaking. My deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy. May god grant them the strength to bear this immense sorrow. Om Shanti," Gangwar said.
The deceased have been identified as Captain Vivek Vikas Bhagat, Captain Savrajdeep Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Dr Vikas Kumar Gupta, Sachin Kumar Mishra, Archana Devi and Dhuru Kumar.
Meanwhile, a lingering sense of grief prevailed in Chatra district, as the near and dear ones of those killed in the crash expressed shock and disbelief.
Bajrangi Prasad, the father of deceased Dr Vikas Kumar Gupta, said he had sold all his land to make his son a doctor, who was posted at Sadar Hospital in Ranchi.
"He has a seven-year-old son... He was meritorious and had completed his MBBS from Odisha&rsquo;s Cuttack," Prasad, who hails from Bihar&rsquo;s Aurangabad district, said.
Family members of Sanjay Kumar (41), however, blamed the &ldquo;poor&rdquo; health infrastructure behind the tragedy.
"Had we given proper treatment to my brother-in-law Sanjay in Ranchi, precious lives could have been saved. I lost both both Sanjay and sister Archana Devi in the incident," Kumar said.
The brother of Sachin Kumar Mishra said he had worked as a nursing staff for many years."Sachin was everything to me. He was like my own child. For the past two to three years, he had been working in an ambulance service."
Chatra Deputy Commissioner Keerthishree G had earlier told PTI that the bodies of all seven deceased were retrieved from the crash site and shifted to Chatra hospital for post-mortem examination.
In a statement, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said the Beechcraft C90 aircraft (VT-AJV) was operating a medical evacuation flight on the Ranchi-Delhi sector when it crashed in Kasaria Panchayat of Chatra district.
&ldquo;The aircraft was airborne from Ranchi at 19:11 IST. After establishing contact with Kolkata at 19:34 IST, the aircraft lost communication and radar contact with Kolkata at approximately 100 nautical miles south-east of Varanasi,&rdquo; it said, adding that there were seven people on board, including two crew members.
An Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) team has been dispatched to the crash site.
According to the DGCA website, Delhi-based non-scheduled operator Redbird has six aircraft in its fleet, including the one that crashed.
Anant Sinha, CEO of Devkamal Hospital in Ranchi, told PTI that the air ambulance was arranged by one of their patients.
"The patient, Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Chandwa in Latehar district, was brought to the hospital with 65 per cent burn injuries on February 16. He was being treated in the hospital," he said.
The family members decided to take him to Delhi for better treatment, Sinha said.
"They arranged for an air ambulance on Monday. The patient left the hospital for Delhi around 4.30 pm," he said.
