Here are the top five films of the year in terms of net grossing amount:
&lsquo;Brahmāstra&rsquo; The Ayan Mukerji directorial starred Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Mouni Roy among others. The film received mixed reviews from critics and the audience. The fantasy action adventure revolves around Shiva who is on the brink of falling in love with Isha but his life takes an unexpected turn when he discovers he has the power to control fire and a connection to a secret society of guardians. Released on September 9, 2022, the film earned over ₹431 crores worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022.
&lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from the Valley during the 1990s. It starred Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi among others. The film received immense love from the audience as well as the critics. It was released on March 11, 2022, and was declared a commercial hit. It earned around ₹340.92 crores worldwide.
&lsquo;Drishyam 2&rsquo; The crime-thriller, starring Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna, Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta, is the sequel to the 2015 film &lsquo;Drishyam&rsquo;. The Abhishek Pathak directorial sees a seven-year-old case related to Vijay and his family reopen. A series of unexpected events reveal the truth and threaten to change everything for the Salgaonkars. The film, which was released on November 18, 2022, has made a collection of ₹291.28 crores worldwide.
&lsquo;Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2&rsquo; Directed by Anees Bazmee, the horror-comedy starred Tabu, Kartik Aaryan, and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. The film is the second installment in the &lsquo;Bhool Bhulaiyaa&rsquo; franchise. The film shows how Reet and Ruhan&rsquo;s paths cross and their journey leads to an abandoned mansion that is haunted by a dreaded spirit who has been trapped for 18 years. The film was released in theatres on May 20, 2022, and it earned ₹266.88 crores worldwide.
&lsquo;Gangubai Kathiawadi&rsquo; The biographical drama, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, starred Alia Bhatt in the titular role. The film is loosely based on the true story of Ganga Jagjivandas Kathiawadi, popularly known as Gangubai Kothewali, whose life was documented in the book &lsquo;Mafia Queens of Mumbai&rsquo; written by S. Hussain Zaidi. The film was released in theatres on February 25, 2022. It premiered at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival before its theatrical release. It has earned ₹209.77 crosses globally.

Several weeks ago, Kartik shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the sets of the Anees Bazmee directorial in which he was seen sitting on a sofa with Tabu. The Kashmir Files The Vivek Agnihotri directorial is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s. The political drama was the first Hindi release to cross ₹250 crore post-pandemic. The film&rsquo;s total worldwide gross is over Rs 330 crore, thanks to the state-sponsored initiatives of tax-free status and other monetary incentives.
Sooryavanshi Starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, &lsquo;Sooryavanshi&rsquo; was the first major release in the theatres post-pandemic. It released on Diwali 2021. The Rohit Shetty directorial earned over Rs 290 crore worldwide.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 The horror-comedy starred Kartik Aaryan, Tabu, and Kiara Advani. The Anees Bazmee directorial, which was a sequel to Akshay Kumar&rsquo;s &lsquo;Bhool Bhulaiyaa&rsquo;, was a complete entertainer and it collected around Rs 266 crore globally.

On being asked about such success of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, Kartik Aaryan said, “During a time like this, having delivered a 100 crore collection within the first nine days of release alone is the most surreal feeling as an actor. I knew the film would do well, but I couldn't have imagined it like this. I owe the success to the team of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, who worked on it so passionately for three years."
Talking about celebrating the film's success and the work schedule ahead, Kartik added, "My biggest celebration for the film happened on the first weekend of the release itself when I had gone to Gaiety cinema and met the fans.
