This move comes after the commentators suggested relocating the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) due to the curator's refusal to prepare pitches as per the franchise's requests.
According to a report by RevSportz, the CAB has submitted a strongly worded letter to the BCCI. It urges the board to prevent Bhogle and/or Doull from commentating during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season at Eden Gardens.
During a session on Cricbuzz, Doull opined that if the curator at Eden Gardens continues to disregard the home team's wishes, KKR should consider changing their home ground. Doull expressed that the curator's role is to accommodate the home team's preferences, as they finance the use of the stadium during the IPL. "If he's still not paying heed to what the home team wants, then just move the franchise away to somewhere else," Doull commented, emphasizing that the curator should not impose his opinions on the game.
Harsha Bhogle also shared a similar viewpoint, stating that a home team should have a pitch tailored to benefit their bowlers. "I saw something about what the KKR curator has said," Bhogle noted.
However, the CAB is backing curator Mukherjee, asserting that he is adhering to official BCCI guidelines, which prohibit franchises from dictating the specific nature of pitch preparation. KKR&rsquo;s captain, Ajinkya Rahane, reportedly requested a spin-friendly wicket to support their key bowlers such as Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine, but the pitch often ended up being more conducive to pace, resulting in high-scoring matches.
The CAB insists that the curator has followed the rules regarding pitch preparation. As of now, no official statement has been issued by the BCCI. Nonetheless, it has been reported that Bhogle and Doull are unlikely to commentate on the upcoming KKR match against the Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens on Monday.
In addition, it&rsquo;s noteworthy that Eden Gardens is set to host the IPL 2025 final on May 25, which adds another layer of significance to this ongoing debate.

A report indicates that one member of the team management pointed to the lucrative IPL paychecks as a potential factor behind some players' inability to perform well in Test cricket. The suggestion was that the large financial rewards from IPL contracts may have led some players to deprioritize the longer format of the game.

Historically, players, particularly those married, have enjoyed significant freedom to have their families travel with them during extended tours. However, the BCCI now believes that long stays with family may negatively affect players' performances. As a result, the board plans to reintroduce a rule, which was in place before 2019, limiting family visits.
Sources suggest that under the new rule, players will only be allowed to have their families, particularly wives, accompany them for a maximum of two weeks during a 45-day tour. The BCCI also aims to enforce a policy requiring all players to travel together on the team bus, with solo travel discouraged. This change could impact players like Virat Kohli, whose wife Anushka Sharma, along with other cricketers' wives, often accompany them for the entirety of their tours.
The BCCI&rsquo;s increased control extends beyond family matters. Reports indicate that head coach Gautam Gambhir and his manager, Gaurav Arora, will face new restrictions. Gambhir&rsquo;s manager will no longer be allowed to stay at the team hotel, occupy a seat in the VIP box at stadiums, or travel on the team bus. Furthermore, during air travel, the BCCI will no longer cover costs for player luggage exceeding 150kg, expecting players to pay for any excess baggage themselves.
These decisions were reportedly discussed in a meeting with top BCCI officials, including Rohit Sharma, Gambhir, and selection committee chief Ajit Agarkar. The focus of the discussions included the future of veteran players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, as well as the tenure of Gambhir&rsquo;s coaching staff. The BCCI feels that the performance levels of the team and support staff have stagnated due to long tenures and is considering limiting the tenure of support staff to three years.
The BCCI&rsquo;s dissatisfaction stems from the Indian team&rsquo;s recent loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where they were defeated 1-3 in Australia. Beyond the series loss, reports emerged of poor morale within the dressing room, with multiple controversies surrounding players&rsquo; decisions, including Ravichandran Ashwin&rsquo;s retirement and leadership concerns with Rohit Sharma dropping himself for the final Test.

Shah, a former BCCI secretary, became the youngest ICC chairman after he was elected unopposed in August last year and took over the prestigious post on December 1. He replaced Greg Barclay who decided not to seek a third term.
Shah was the BCCI secretary since October 2019 and chairman of the Asian Cricket Council since January 2021.
Shah will be a "special invitee" to the SGM, convened to elect the new secretary and treasurer of the BCCI.
The cricket administrator has been at the forefront of expanding the game's imprint globally and recently met top officials of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics organising committee to discuss the sport's inclusion in the Summer Games.
Cricket will make a return to the Olympics after 128 years when it is played in the 2028 Los Angeles Games. The sport is not yet confirmed for the 2032 edition in Brisbane.
Australian newspaper, The Age, recently reported that Shah will meet meet Cricket Australia chair Mike Baird and his England counterpart Richard Thompson later this month to discuss the finer points of a two-tier Test system to facilitate more series between the big three nations.

As has been the case with ICC events, India and Pakistan have been clubbed in the same group which also has New Zealand and Bangladesh.
Group B comprises South Africa, Australia, Afghanistan and England.
The tournament opener will be played in Karachi on February 19 when hosts Pakistan face New Zealand and the final is scheduled for March 9. The premier 50-over event, last played in 2017, will have 15 matches with at least 10 games scheduled in Pakistan.
Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi will be the three hosting venues in Pakistan with the second semifinal to be staged at the refurbished Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
"Lahore will also host the final on 9 March, unless India qualify, in which case it will be played in Dubai. Both the semi-finals and the final will have reserve days," said the ICC in a statement.
India will open their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 before taking on Pakistan three days later. Their final league fixture will be against New Zealand on March 2.
Group B action begins on February 21 when Afghanistan square up against South Africa in Karachi.
A big weekend then kicks off with rivals England and Australia clashing in Lahore on February 22.
The eight sides in the Champions Trophy are the teams that finished in the top eight in the points table at ODI World Cup in India last year.
The ICC has kept reserve days for both the semifinals and the final.

While the BCCI's stance was always clear, the matter got stretched because of the PCB's refusal to allow a "one-sided" arrangement of neutral venues.
PCB, which had sent its team to India for the ODI World Cup last year, had categorically opposed the hybrid model but eventually agreed to it on reciprocal grounds.

The deadlock over the hosting of next year's Champions Trophy finally ended on Thursday when the ICC announced that India will play their matches of the 50-over event at a neutral venue instead of host country Pakistan, which will get a similar arrangement for tournaments to be held in India till 2027.
The agreement will also extend to the 2028 women's T20 World Cup, which will be held in Pakistan. Although no formal announcement has been made, but India's Champions Trophy matches are likely be held in the UAE.
"The ICC Board has approved that all matches between India and Pakistan played at ICC Events during the current rights cycle from 2024 to 2027 (which are to be hosted in India or Pakistan) will be played at a neutral venue proposed by the tournament host," said the ICC in a statement, confirming what PTI reported on December 5.
The arrangement will also cover next year's women's World Cup in India and the T20 World Cup in 2026, to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

His successor Jay Shah took charge on December 1 and all stakeholders, including the Pakistan Cricket Board, the BCCI and the broadcasters, were running out of time to organise the 50-over event that was last played in the UK in 2017.
While BCCI's stance was always clear, the matter got stretched because of PCB's refusal to allow a "one-sided" arrangement of neutral venues. Led by Pakistan interior minister Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB was determined not to lose face in front of the local public.
PCB, which had sent its team to India for the ODI World Cup last year, had categorically opposed the hybrid model but eventually agreed to it on reciprocal grounds.
The PCB had earlier indicated that it wanted a greater share in the annual revenue cycle to accommodate the Indian demand for a hybrid model but there is no word yet on whether that has been discussed or accepted.
The tournament will feature eight teams, divided into two groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday invited applications for the position of Head Coach of the Senior Men&rsquo;s Team. An official release by the board stated that the applications for the position should be submitted by 6PM IST on May 27, 2024.
The release, by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah further stated that the selection process will include a thorough review of applications, followed by personal interviews and assessments of shortlisted candidates.
Current India head coach Rahul Dravid's term expires after the T20 World Cup in June. The BCCI, in a statement, had earlier informed that the tenure of the next coach will be over 3.5 years -- (July 1, 2024, to December 31, 2027).
Interestingly, door is still open for Dravid as Jay Shah told reporters in Mumbai that Dravid can re-apply for the top job as his tenure is ending in June.
Dravid was handed an extension after the 2023 World Cup. Under Dravid's watch, Rohit and Co. made it to the final of the 50-over World Cup last year.

Following along the lines of increased Test fees for Indian players, the BCCI is now in talks to increase remuneration for domestic players as an added incentive for participation in the longest format.&nbsp; A Cricbuzz report, dated April 24, 2024, has stated that the BCCI has asked the Ajit Agarkar-led selection commmitte to develop methods that will help to increase the fees for domestic players to upto INR 1 Crore, particularly for those who are not playing the IPL every year.&nbsp;
As per the report, there is consensus among officials that fees for the Ranji Trophy needs to be doubled at the very least. Another idea that has been floated reportedly suggests that a cricketer who has played at least 10 Ranji games be eligible to earn between INR 75 Lakh to INR 1 Crore.&nbsp; Earlier this year, ahead of the IPL, several India players opted out of their Ranji commitments to stay fit for the T20 league, allegedly leading to the termination of their central BCCI contracts.&nbsp; After the announcement of the contracts for the current year, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had also announced higher match fees for those playing Tests for India in a nod to promoting red-ball cricket in the country.&nbsp;

About 10 years after its last edition was played, "active conversations" are taking place between cricket boards of India, Australia and England to revive the Champions League T20, a club-based international T20 competition.
The last edition of the CLT20 was held in India in 2014 with Chennai Super Kings winning the title after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders in the final at Bengaluru, with the edition involving three teams from India, two each from Australia and South Africa and one team side from Pakistan, the West Indies and New Zealand.
As many as six editions of the CLT20 were played between 2009-10 to 2014-15, with four of these being organised in India and two in South Africa. The tournament was won twice each by Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, while Australia's New South Wales and Sydney Sixes won it one time each.
While the cricket calendar remains jam-packed, the biggest challenge would be to find a window for reviving such an event, said Cricket Victoria CEO Nick Cummins, who is aware of the conversations taking place between the three biggest boards in international cricket.
"I think the (earlier edition of) Champions League was ahead of its time. The T20 landscape wasn't matured enough at that point. I think it is now," Cummins told the media during the announcement of its partnership with KheloMore to launch the Melbourne Cricket Academy in India.
"I know that there's active conversations between Cricket Australia (CA), ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) and the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) about (reviving) the Champions League," he said.
"It's just trying to find a window as to when you actually play that, because you've also got all the ICC tournaments as well. It maybe (the case) that the first iteration of the Champions League will be of the women.... (it may involve cricketers playing in the) the WPL, the Hundred and the WBBL," he added.
Cummins said he has been in regular talks with CA's CEO Nick Hockley for the revival of CLT20 but added that BCCI secretary Jay Shah could also shed some light on it.
"I'm constantly talking to Nick Hockley, Cricket Australia CEO, for a Champions League, because I think it's pretty important to bring that back," he said.
"There are talks about it. It's probably a question to ask Jay Shah (BCCI secretary). But certainly, from an Australia cricket perspective, we are very open to the idea of the Champions League. It's just about finding a window in the FTP, but I think that's the next step in the evolution of cricket," he added.
Cummins drew comparison between the club-based international competition like Champions League in football, saying that cricket is in a similar phase of finding the balance between international and club-based competitions.
"We still haven't made out which league is the best. IPL, PSL or the Big Bash? The only way we can show that is by having the Melbourne Stars play Karachi Kings or the Mumbai Indians," Cummins said.
"Our great aspiration is to have the Indian players play in the Big Bash," he said.
"(The) Champions League is well overdue. Look at what Champions League does for football, the World Cup is fantastic and the Champions League is there (too) every time.
"The idea of the Mumbai Indians playing the Melbourne Stars at the MCG would be just as exciting as India playing Australia at the MCG," he added.

The BCCI is set to bar state associations from directly engaging with foreign boards for organising training camps and competitions, making it mandatory for them to route all such proposals through the parent body.
The decision will be taken at the board's Apex Council meeting on March 18.
The BCCI was forced to take the decision after a host of state units, including the Delhi and Puducherry, held talks with foreign boards, mainly the associate nations, for hosting them on exposure trips.
It could be confirmed that Delhi and Districts Cricket Association has received a proposal from the Nepal board.
"State units can surely partner with foreign boards for cricket-related activities but those agreements have to be facilitated by the BCCI as it is the parent body. All proposals must go through BCCI," said a BCCI source.
In the upcoming Apex Council meeting, there will be a discussion on "state cricket associations collaborating with foreign boards for organising cricket", following which the BCCI will take matters in its own hands.
Nepal is expected to be in India for an exposure trip ahead of the T20 World Cup in the USA and Caribbean in June.
The Cricket Association of Nepal officials had a meeting with BCCI secretary Jay Shah last month.
The BCCI has helped associate nations in the past. Afghanistan made India its home base for a substantial period in the pre-COVID era, using facilities in Dehradun and Greater Noida for training and competition.
Sri Lanka Cricket signs MOU with Japan Cricket ============================= Associate nations reaching out to full members is not only restricted to powerhouse India.
On Wednesday, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) signed an MOU with the Japan Cricket Association (JCA) to help the latter develop its game through "collaborations, exchanges, and also providing expertise pertaining to the game".
