Israel Ambassador to India Naor Gilon has voiced concern over the "trivialisation" of Holocaust in Hindi movie "Bawaal" released on Prime Video, saying it had "poor choice of terminology and symbolism".
The Varun Dhawan-starrer has stirred up a controversy for using the Holocaust to tell a story of marital discord as earlier in the week a prominent Jewish group slammed the movie and called for its removal from the OTT platform.
The Israeli embassy in India on Friday issued a statement, saying it was "disturbed by the trivialisation of the significance of the Holocaust" in the movie, directed by Nitesh Tiwari of "Dangal" fame.
"I did not and will not watch the film 'Bawaal' but from what I have read, there was a poor choice of terminology and symbolism. Trivialisation of the Holocaust should disturb all," Gilon wrote on Twitter.
"I urge those who don't know enough about the horrors of the Holocaust to educate themselves about it,&rdquo; he added.
"Bawaal" follows a high school history teacher Ajay Dixit (Dhawan) and his wife Nisha (Jahnvi Kapoor) as they go on a Europe tour where they visit prominent World War 2 sites, including Auschwitz and Anne Frank&rsquo;s home in Amsterdam.

The teaser of Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan&rsquo;s much-awaited film &lsquo;Bawaal&rsquo; has been released. The Nitesh Tiwari directorial is a tragic love story amid an ongoing war.
The teaser opens with Janhvi and Varun meeting each other and love blossoming between the duo. However, things take an unexpected turn and they are seen bidding each other goodbye.&nbsp;
Janhvi is heard saying, &lsquo;Maine apne rishte ko samajhne mein itna waqt lagadia, jab samjha to khone ka waqt aa chuka tha (I took so much time in understanding our relationship that when I actually understood it, it was time to lose it).&rsquo;&nbsp;
The teaser ends when a door is closed between the two of them, separating them from each other.

The show follows the journey of Noyonika Sengupta, a housewife, who is forced to return to work as a lawyer after her husband&rsquo;s public scandal puts him in jail.

If reports are to be believed, &lsquo;Bawaal&rsquo; is going to be the first Indian film to get a premiere at Eiffel Tower.
Sources close to the entertainment portal PinkVilla said, &lsquo;Bawaal will be the first Indian Film to have its premiere at the Eiffel Tower. The premiere will take place at the exquisite Salle Gustave Eiffel, offering a panoramic view of the city of love as the backdrop. Apart from Varun, Janhvi, Sajid, and Nitesh, the premiere will be attended by movie enthusiasts and French delegates, making it one of the biggest premieres for an Indian film.&rsquo;
&lsquo;Bawaal has a symbolic reference to Paris. The makers have extensively shot some of the key portions in Paris, and the city acts like a character in this tale.
The film is essentially a love story with references to World War 2 and the makers are ready to premiere the film in the city of love,&rsquo; the source added.
Varun and Janhvi&rsquo;s film will release in over 200 countries and territories. The film was initially supposed to release on April 7.

Filmmakers Sajid Nadiadwala and Nitesh Tiwari took to social media to announce the new release date of their next project &lsquo;Bawaal&rsquo;, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan. &nbsp;The film that was initially scheduled to be released in April got postponed due to VFX issues and is now all set to arrive in theatres on October 6, 2023.
