Google Warns Against Pitfalls of AI in Chatbots Amid Development of Bard Against ChatGPT

In a recent interview with Germany's Welt am Sonntag newspaper, the head of Google Search, Prabhakar Raghavan, warned about the dangers of artificial intelligence in chatbots. Raghavan stated that this type of AI can sometimes result in "hallucination," where a machine provides a false but convincing answer. He emphasised the importance of minimizing this issue.
Alphabet recently introduced its own chatbot, Bard. But a mistake in a promotional video resulted in inaccurate information being shared, causing a $100 billion drop in the company's market value. User testing on Bard is still ongoing and there is no indication yet of when the app will be released to the public.
Raghavan emphasised the sense of urgency and responsibility that comes with the development of AI chatbots, saying, "We obviously feel the urgency, but we also feel the great responsibility. We certainly don't want to mislead the public."

Google has unleashed its rival to ChatGPT. The AI-powered chatbot service is called Bard, and it is powered by Google&rsquo;s LaMDA technology that was unveiled two years ago.
Bard has the ability to seek knowledge based on user responses and other information available on the web.&nbsp;
Google is releasing Bard initially with its lightweight model version of LaMDA, since a smaller model requires significantly less computing power, enabling the company to scale to more users, allowing for more feedback.&nbsp;
Google claims that it will combine external feedback with its own internal testing to make sure Bard&rsquo;s responses meet a high bar for quality, safety and groundedness.

The latest battle on wall street, is the battle of artificial intelligence. After chatGPT backed by Microsoft, was launched, Google is now set to launch its own chatbot called Bard.&nbsp; Chatbot Bard it seems, has gotten off to a rocky start, one that cost its parent company $100 billion in market capitalisation. As per reports, in the first video demo of the product, an animation shared by Google showed Bard answering a question about new discoveries made through the James Webb Space Telescope. The answer said that the telescope "took the very first pictures of a planet outside of our own solar system'', or exoplanet.&nbsp; However, astronomer said that this was incorrect.&nbsp; NASA in fact, confirmed that the first pictures of exoplanets were taken by the European Southern Observatory&rsquo;s Very Large Telescope (VLT) back in 2004. Meanwhile, just a day before Google&rsquo;s presentation, Microsoft unveiled a new version of its Bing search engine with ChatGPT functions integrated.&nbsp;
Gil Luria, senior software analyst at DA Davidson told Reuters that "Google has been scrambling over the last few weeks to catch up on Search and that caused the announcement to be rushed and the embarrassing mess up of posting a wrong answer during their demo.&rdquo; Shares of Alphabet closed around 8% lower on Wednesday, resulting in an erosion of $100 billion in market cap.&nbsp;
