Videos are surfacing on the internet with a claim that an alleged mass marriage scam took place in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia. This reportedly happened at the Mukhyamantri Samohik Vivah Yojna event that took place on January 25.
In the videos, it can be seen that the women were garlanding themselves. In another video, Bablu, a resident of Ballia, said that he went to the event as a spectator at the community programme. He was made to pose as a groom in exchange for ₹2,000 to ₹3,000.&nbsp;
The man alleged in a video that the programme co-ordinators made several men pose as grooms. Ballia District Magistrate, Ravindra Kumar said that the allocated funds for beneficiaries have not been disbursed as intended. An investigation has been launched and an FIR has been registered against nine individuals, including the Assistant Development Officer (ADO) of the Social Welfare Department.
According to the government website, the government provides ₹51,000 under this scheme, of which ₹35,000 goes to the girl, ₹10,000 for purchasing matrimonial materials and ₹6,000 for the event.

Fifty-four people admitted at Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district hospital have died in the last three days, following which a team of the health department from Lucknow has reached the hospital to ascertain the cause of deaths, officials said on Sunday.
The deaths come amid the heatwave conditions in the region. However, Ballia Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Jayant Kumar said only two people have died due to heat stroke in the district till Sunday.
Nearly 400 patients were admitted to the district hospital from June 15 to June 17, they said, adding all the patients who died at the government hospital were aged above 60 years.
Meanwhile, Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of the district hospital, Dr Divakar Singh, was removed and sent to Azamgarh, allegedly after he made a careless remark about the cause of deaths.
Dr S K Yadav has been given the charge of CMS, a senior official said.
CMS Yadav said the hospital is under pressure as around 125 to 135 patients are being admitted daily.
"On June 15, as many as 154 patients were admitted to the district hospital, of which 23 patients died due to various reasons. While 20 patients died on June 16, 11 passed away on the following day. They were all aged above 60 years," he added.

A 50-year-old woman died and five of her family members were injured following a clash with another family over barking of a stray dog, police said on Wednesday.
A case has been registered against three people and two of them have been arrested, they said.
"The two groups clashed with each other following arguments over barking of a dog in a village under Bairiya police station area. Fifty-year-old Lal Muni and five others were injured in the incident on Tuesday night," Additional Superintendent of Police Durga Prasad Tiwari said on Wednesday.
According to locals, the accused family used to feed the stray dog.
On Tuesday night, when Lal Muni was passing from near the house of the accused family, the dog started barking at her. When Muni complained about this to the family, they got enraged and started allegedly abusing her.
"The argument escalated when family members of Lal Muni also reached there. As per the police complaint, the accused and her family members attacked Lal Muni and her family members with wooden sticks," said the officer.
They were rushed to a hospital where Muni was declared dead by doctors, he said.
An FIR has been registered against three persons on the basis of a complaint filed by Muni's son, he said.
"We have arrested Shiv Sagar Bind and his son Ajit over the incident. The body has been sent for a postmortem examination,"&nbsp;

Agnipath protests: Group of men enter railway station in UP's Ballia, damage railway property

The Ballia police managed to disperse the crowed by force but not before some damage was inflicted. The Ballia police chief said they dispersed the people after talking with them.

Friday morning saw renewed protests against the contentious Agnipath recruitment scheme. A group of men entered the railway station in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district and vandalised a train and railway staion property.&nbsp;

According to a report in NDTV, another group of protestors carrying sticks argued with the police outside the railway station.

The MLA had defended the alleged killer saying that he fired in self-defence. Dhirendra Singh, was missing since the shooting on Thursday, was arrested on Sunday.
