The veteran opener David Warner decided to withdraw his appeal to overturn the lifetime leadership ban on Wednesday.&nbsp;
In a lengthy statement, Warner launched a scathing attack on the review panel's process, saying it wanted a 'public lynching'.
Warner alleged that the counsel assisting the review panel had made offensive comments during the process.

Warner further explained that he is not prepared for his family to be the washing machine for cricket's dirty laundry and that's why he withdrew his application.
 Earlier, when Cricket Australia <a href="https://www.editorji.com/sports-news/cricket/cricket-australia-paves-way-for-david-warner-s-return-to-captaincy-1669015102781">ratified the amendment to their code of conduct</a>, they confirmed it was not an appeal against the initial decision or a review of the original offence.
Warner has been banned for life for taking any leadership role in the Australian team following his involvement in the 2018 ball-tampering scandal in South Africa.

Former Australian captain Chappell said that Cricket Australia never protected the interest of the players and Warner's outburst on the captaincy ban has exposed the authorities' tendency for back-side protection.

 Meanwhile, Smith, who was Australia's stand-in captain against the West Indies, said that banning someone for life from leadership is just fundamentally wrong.
 33-year-old Smith also stated that David served the time as he did and for us, he is a leader on the ground and he is doing a tremendous job on and off the field.

In a media statement, the Australian board said that players or officials subject to lifetime bans would now be able to have those sanctions reviewed if they demonstrate remorse and evidence of good behaviour.
Warner was banned from holding a leadership for Australia after his involvement in the 2018 ball-tampering scandal in South Africa.&nbsp;

With the new code of conduct in place, 36-year-old Warner will be allowed to apply for review to a panel of three code of conduct commissioners.
The change might allow Warner to lead Australia in future. He can also take up a leadership role for Sydney Thunder in Big Bash League.

Here's what Cricket Australia's new code of conduct states:
<ul>
<li>Under the changes, players and support staff can now apply to have long-term sanctions modified.</li>
<li>Any applications will be considered by a three-person review panel, comprising independent code of conduct commissioners which must be satisfied that exceptional circumstances exist to justify modifying a sanction.</li>
<li>These circumstances and considerations will include whether the subject of the sanction has demonstrated genuine remorse.</li>
<li>The subject's conduct and behaviour since the imposition of the sanction.</li>
<li>Whether rehabilitation programs have been completed undertaken (if applicable) and the length of time that has passed since the sanction was imposed and whether sufficient time has passed to allow for reform or rehabilitation.</li>
</ul>

While describing the drawn-out process by CA as traumatic and disappointing, 36-year-old Warner stated that it's frustrating given this could have been done 9 months ago when it was first brought up.
He also added that the process was fast-tracked now given Australia are facing a leadership crisis after Aaron Finch's retirement from ODI cricket.&nbsp;
However, the southpaw is happy that he gets an opportunity to put forward his case in front of the integrity unit.&nbsp;

The ex-skipper added that the television director, who had played an active role in catching Cam, immediately pulled the shot off the screen. "We went to the umpires about it, which might seem a bit poor, but we'd been slaughtered and were convinced they'd been up to it since the first Test. But the footage got lost. That series proved to be a blot on Cricket Australia as Cameron Bancroft was caught altering the condition of the ball with a sandpaper. Later, it was revealed that then-Test skipper Steven Smith and vice-captain David Warner were also involved in the same, which resulted in a year-long ban for them.
