The motive behind Bajrang's journey was to personally deliver his award and letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Bajrang's letter also touched on the feelings of helplessness and uncertainty that engulfed him and his colleagues throughout the night of December 21 after the election results came out.

In conclusion, Bajrang expressed that he cannot feel honoured by the awards while witnessing the ongoing disrespect and mistreatment of women wrestlers.

Wrestler Bajrang Punia was on Thursday granted bail by a Delhi court in a criminal defamation case filed by coach Naresh Dahiya, who had accused the top wrestler of tarnishing his image with his statement during the protest against federation chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
During the wrestlers' protest, Bajrang had said that Dahiya did not have any credibility to oppose the agitation since he himself was facing a rape case.
Dahiya had then moved the court, which had summoned Bajrang, who recently suffered defeat at the Asian Games to return without a medal.
"Bajrang had sought exemption from physical appearance and missed the first three hearings. He appeared physically today and the court has granted him bail. The next date for hearing is March 5," advocate Rajesh Kumar Rexwal, who represented Dahiya, told PTI after the proceedings.
Dahiya had contended in the court that he has been acquitted in the rape case and Bajrang's comments brought him bad name.
Wrestlers Bajrang, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik had led a protest against WFI chief, alleging that he had sexually exploited several women wrestlers.
Singh, who is now facing a court case in the matter, has denied all the charges.&nbsp;

List includes wrestler Bajrang Punia's name who had indicated that he might withdraw from the Asian Games if all the khap panchayats asked him to do so.

A record number of 634 sportspersons were cleared by the Sports Ministry to compete at the Asian Games, surpassing the 572 athletes in the last edition of the continental showpiece in Jakarta in 2018.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) had recommended 850 athletes for the event to be held in Hangzhou from September 23.
Track and field events have got the pride of place as 65 athletes -- 34 men and 31 women -- are part of the huge contingent.
Sportspersons in 38 disciplines have been cleared, with a total of 44 footballers -- 22 players in men's and women's sections respectively -- figuring in the list.
Hockey constitutes the third-highest number of athletes at 36, with the ministry clearing 18 players each in the men's and women's sections.
The list also includes the men's and women's cricket teams, comprising 15 members each respectively.
Shooting sport, in which India has performed consistently in the continental showpiece, will see a big 30-member contingent competing in Hangzhou, while a 33-member sailing contingent has also been cleared.
The ministry has not cleared any male athlete in weightlifting, gymnastics, handball and rugby. Only two sportspersons have been cleared in kurash (martial art) and weightlifting (both women), while only one gymnast has been included in the list.
The ministry has included the name of wrestler Bajrang Punia (65kg) in the list, going with the IOA ad-hoc panel's decision to recommend his name without appearing for the Asian Games trials last month.
Vishal Kaliraman had topped the trials in the weight category and has appealed to the ministry to include his name.
Bajrang, however, has indicated that he might withdraw from the Asian Games if all the khap panchayats that backed him during the protest at Jantar Mantar ask him to do so.
Wrestler Antim Panghal (53kg) name figures in the list after 2018 Jakarta Asian Games gold medallist Vinesh Panghal -- who too had been exempted from the Asian Games trials and given direct entry -- pulled out due to a knee injury.
Indian chess player Koneru Humpy, the double Asian Games gold medallist in 2006 who had indicated earlier this year she might not go for the continental event, is an integral part of a formidable chess team that includes D Harika and R Praggnanandhaa among others.&nbsp;

Two candidates -- Brij Bhushan-loyalist Sanjay Singh and 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Anita Sheoran -- are in the fray for the WFI president's post in the elections on Saturday.
The six wrestlers, who protested at Jantar Mantar for two months alleging Brij Bhushan sexually harassed women grapplers, have thrown their weight behind rival candidate Sheoran, who is also one of the witnesses in the sexual harassment case against the BJP leader.
A source close to the Bajrang, Vinesh and Sakshi camp told PTI on Thursday that the wrestlers had met Sports Minister Anurag Thakur in the morning and are hopeful of meeting Home Minister Amit Shah later in the day.
"The wrestlers are hopeful that the Home Minister could give them time today," said the source on the condition of anonymity.
"Some mediator has given them assurance that after the Parliament session today, the Home Minister could meet them. They (wrestlers) met the Sports Minister in the morning and he apparently told them he will look into the matter," the source added.
"The wrestlers conveyed their misgivings about Sanjay Singh from the Brij Bhushan camp getting elected to the post of president. The wrestlers said that while they had demanded none of Brij Bhushan's relatives should contest the WFI elections, it also implied that none of his close aides should contest the polls.
"And, Sanjay Singh is a close aide of Brij Bhushan. He is probably a business partner of the BJP leader. They have a problem with him becoming WFI chief," the source added.
"In that case, Brij Bhushan's son could have contested... what's the difference?" Brij Bhushan, his son Karan and son-in-law Vishal Singh (Bihar wrestling body chief) are not in the fray for any post, following assurances given by the Sports Minister to the wrestlers that none of the BJP leader's relatives will be part of the new WFI governing body.
"The wrestlers shared all these details with the minister. They want Anita Sheoran (a police officer from Haryana who has filed her nomination as a representative of the Odisha unit) to become WFI president and this is what they are going to request the Home Minister if they get to meet him," the source added.
The source refused to divulge the whereabouts of wrestlers who had earlier in the day called a press conference at Rajghat but had to shelve the idea due to the imposition of Section 144 in the area owing to the Independence Day preparations.
"If somehow Brij Bhushan can be convinced (that Sanjay Singh should not contest) then the entire matter will get resolved in no time," added the source.
"The wresters have no issues with who becomes the secretary, treasurer, joint secretary or senior vice-president. They only want that Sheoran becomes president." A source close to the Brij Bhushan camp asked will the wrestlers withdraw all cases of sexual harassment against the BJP leader if Sanjay Singh doesn't contest? "Does that (Sanjay Singh not contesting) mean all the cases of sexual harassment will be withdrawn against Brij Bhushan. It is now not possible to pull out of the race. We are confident of winning the WFI elections," the source said.
Earlier in the day, Vinesh had tweeted that due to Section 144 being imposed in and around Rajghat they had to cancel their press conference that was aimed at throwing light on the recent developments.
"The police have imposed Section 144 at Rajghat and have stopped us from holding a press conference. Will finalise the time and place of the next press conference soon," Vinesh tweeted.
Rumours also circulated that the press conference would be held at the Master Chandgiram Akhada, and Jagdish Kaliraman, a former international wrestler and son of late Chandgiram, said he "came to know through the media that a press conference was scheduled at my place." "I was surprised to see a huge police posse at the akhada. No wrestler approached us requesting for a press conference, and none has visited the akhada. These were just rumours," said Kaliraman.

The Worlds will take place in Bulgaria from September 16 and the last date for sending entries by name is August 16. However, the IOA ad-hoc panel has taken "in principle" commitment from the international wrestling federation (UWW) to delay sending the entries.

A Delhi court on Thursday summoned wrestler Bajrang Punia on September 6 in a criminal defamation complaint filed against him by wrestling coach Naresh Dahiya.
Metropolitan Magistrate Yashdeep Chahal directed Punia to appear before the court on that day, holding he is of the &ldquo;prima facie&rdquo; view that all the ingredients of defamation were made out.
He said at the stage of summoning it was fairly settled that the court was not required to go into a comparative analysis of the possible defence that may be taken by the accused.
"On a consideration of the complaint, supporting documents and pre-summoning evidence, I am of the prima facie view that all the ingredients of defamation are made out. It appears that the statement made in the press conference was a result of malicious intent and was not made in good faith.
"In view of the same, let accused, namely, Bajrang Punia be summoned for the commission of offence punishable under Section 499 read with Section 500 (both dealing with criminal defamation) of the IPC," the judge said.
The complaint claimed that Punia, along with other wrestlers/persons, made defamatory remarks against Dahiya in a press conference held on May 10 at Jantar Mantar during a protest against alleged sexual harassment of certain women wrestlers by the former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.&nbsp;

The FIR was filed in connection with the scuffle that broke out at Jantar Mantar. Top Indian wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and Bajrang Punia were detained but were later released by the police.
They have been accused of rioting, unlawful assembly, and causing obstruction in the duty of a public servant, among other things.

Several visuals showed the protesting grapplers being dragged into police buses with one particular clip of detained Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik speaking to reporters from the window of a bus.

Wrestlers Sakshi Malik, Sangeeta Phogat and Vinesh Phogat were detained by Delhi police on Sunday afternoon during their protest march to the newly-inaugurated Parliament building. Several visuals showed the protesting grapplers being dragged into police buses one after the other. Olympic bronze medallist Sakshi Malik was also captured talking to the reporters from the window of the bus. The wrestlers were on their way to the new Parliament building for their Women&rsquo;s Mahapanchayat that was scheduled for Sunday. However, they were stopped by cops midway and their supporters were detained.
Vinesh Phogat, who spoke to the media gathered at the protest site, had earlier said, &lsquo;We just want to carry out a peaceful protest. We have not broken any (police) barricades nor do we intend to. Our protest is peaceful." Meanwhile, Delhi Police had made a prior statement where they had said that they will not let anything hamper the inauguration of the new Parliament building, not even the wrestlers&rsquo; protest.

Ace Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia, who is one of the faces of the protest against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has said that their phone numbers are being tracked.&nbsp;
While observing the 'black day', Punia told reporters, 'Nowadays our phone numbers are being tracked, we are being treated in a manner where it seems as if we have committed a crime. Whoever is in our contact is being tracked'
Calling it a "black day", the protesting grapplers and their supporters on Thursday wore black bands. Top Indian grapplers Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang, Sakshi Malik, and others wore black bands on their forehead while a few supporters sported them on their arms as a mark of protest against what they see as lack of action against Brij Bhushan.
The protest against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, accused of sexual harassment and intimidation by the grapplers began on 23rd April.&nbsp; The wrestlers have been demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan, who they have accused of sexual exploitation of several women grapplers including a minor.
The Delhi Police has filed two FIRs, including one under section 10 of the POCSO act against the BJP MP, who has denied all the charges.
On the brighter side, Bajrang welcomed the move to hold the women's camp in Patiala.
"We welcome the shifting of the women's camp to Patiala. Wherever athletes have access to all the facilities set up camp there rather than having it in a place where they are being exploited and mistreated." Besides members of Mazdood Adhikar Sangathan, Sonipat and a small delegation of youth students from Bhagat Singh Youth Union, Maharashtra also came in support of the wrestlers on Thursday.
Bajrang continued, "See nothing is bigger than the judiciary. We have full faith in the court, our fight is for the truth. I don't think India has seen something like this in the past.
"We get strength when we see the support we are getting from all corners from of the country.
"This was the time to prepare for the Asian Games and Olympics, so it's very sad and unfortunate. It's a huge loss for sports that we have been protesting for the past 19 days."

Star wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat hit the mat on Monday for the first time in 15 days to be ready for the Asian Games trials even as IOA's ad-hoc panel set the ball rolling for resumption of activities by finalising dates for the Asian Championships (U17, 23) trials.
Sparring was out of the question for these top wrestlers after they resumed their sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding the arrest of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who they have accused of sexual exploitation of women wrestlers.
Bajrang and Vinesh have not competed in any international tournament since January and have not gone for training abroad though the Sports Authority of India (SAI) had cleared their training-cum-exposure stints on their request.
Till recently, they were adamant that unless their demands are met they won't train or compete in international tournaments. In the last fortnight, they had two light training sessions at Jantar Mantar only.
However, Vinesh on Sunday had said they will resume training and won't shun tournaments anymore.
In the one-hour session at a nearby stadium, Bajrang had Jitender Kinha as his sparring partner while Vinesh trained with her cousin Sangeeta and Rio Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi Malik.

"The last time we did mat training was a day before the resumption of this protest. And you have seen how busy we were in meeting supporters in the last 15 days. The discussions were happening even late in the night, training was not possible. But now, we will do mat training consistently," said a wrestler who was part of the training session.
"We had light training today as we followed techniques. Gradually, we will start strength and endurance training as well. We are hoping that a proper resolution will come and by that time we want to be ready for the Asian Games trials. We also want to compete in the upcoming Ranking Series tournament," he added.
However, the team for the UWW Ranking Series event, scheduled to be held in Bishkek from June 1-4 has already been decided. It's more or less the same team that competed at the Asian Championships in Astana in April and won 14 medals.

Asked to give more details, Bajrang said, "CCTV cameras must be here. Foortage will make it clear." Asked specifically if AAP leader Somnath Bharti had brought the folding beds, as being claimed by the Delhi Police, Bajrang said,"CCTV footagecan show he was not there when it happened. The Indian Olympic Association has appointed a 3-member panel to run the Wrestling Federation of India.
The PT Usha-led IOA named former shooter Suma Shirur, Wushu Association of India President Bhupender Singh Bajwa in the panel.
The third member of the ad-hoc panel will be a retired High Court judge who is yet to be named.
The panel appointment comes 3 days after the Sports Ministry dissolved WFI and deferred its May 7 elections, and instead asked the IOA to form a committee to run the affairs of the organisation.
