Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath on Thursday tabled a Budget of ₹2,79,279 crore for financial year 2023-24 in the Legislative Assembly.
For the agriculture sector ₹11,589 crore has been allocated. In the budget for 2023-24, the state allocated ₹1,212 crores for agricultural mechanization and ₹125 crores for fisher's insurance. In addition, the finance minister allocated ₹500 crore for interest-free loans to farmers.
Of the total budget, ₹54,228 crore has been allocated for direct benefit schemes (DBT).
Besides DBT schemes, Rajendranath has earmarked ₹15,882 crore for Health &amp; Family Welfare.&nbsp;
Budget has allocated Rs 9,381 crore for the Municipal Administration &amp; Urban Development, Scheduled Castes Component (₹20,005 crore), Scheduled Tribes Component (₹6,929 crore) and Backward Classes Component (₹38,605 crore).
Housing for Poor was allotted ₹5,600 crore, Roads &amp; Buildings department - ₹9,118 crore, Irrigation &ndash; ₹11,908 crore, Energy - &nbsp;₹6,456 crore, and Village and Ward Secretariats (₹3,858 crore) among others.

Seeking to ensure every district in Andhra Pradesh has a temple, the government has said the construction of shrines has been taken up in a big way in the state.
On the directions of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, this initiative has been heralded to protect and propagate the Hindu faith, Deputy CM Kottu Satyanarayana said.
&ldquo;To protect and propagate the Hindu faith on a massive scale, construction of Hindu temples in the localities of weaker sections has been initiated,&rdquo; said Satyanaraya, who is also the Endowments Minister said in a release on Tuesday.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams&rsquo; Sri Vani Trust has allocated Rs 10 lakh each for the construction of temples.
In addition to the start of construction of 1,330 temples, another 1,465 have been added to this list. Likewise, on the request a few legislators, 200 more will be built.
The construction of remaining temples will be done with the cooperation of other voluntary organisations, he said.
According to the minister, construction of 978 temples is taking place in full swing under the aegis of the Endowments Department while the works of every 25 temples has been entrusted to an assistant engineer.
Out of the Rs 270 crore CGF funds allocated to revive some temples and also for the conduct of rituals in temples, Rs 238 crore funds have been released.
Similarly, out of Rs 28 crore earmarked in this fiscal for the financing of rituals (doopa deepa naiveydyam) at the rate of Rs 5,000 per temple, Rs 15 crore have been exhausted.
&ldquo;Under the doopa deepa scheme, only 1,561 temples were enrolled by 2019, which now spread to 5,000,&rdquo; Satyanarayana added.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday said the State capital would be shifted to Visakhapatnam.
Addressing the preparatory meeting for the Global Investors Summit to be held in Visakhapatnam in March, Jagan said he would be shifting his office to the port city in the months to come.
"Here I am to invite you to Visakhapatnam which is going to be our capital in the days to come. I myself would also be shifting over to Visakhapatnam in the months to come," he said.
Amaravati is the present capital of Andhra Pradesh.
In November last year, Jagan Mohan Reddy government repealed the controversial AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Act, 2020 intended to establish three capitals for the State.
The State government had proposed three capitals, Visakhapatnam (Executive capital), Amaravati (Legislative capital) and Kurnool (Judicial capital).
Jagan further said the State Government is organising the Global Investors Summit in Visakhapatnam on March 3 and 4 and requested the corporate community to take part in the meet and invest in the State.

A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha agreed to hear the Andhra Pradesh government&rsquo;s petition on Thursday after the standing counsel for the state sought an urgent hearing.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it will hear on January 19 the plea of the Andhra Pradesh government challenging the high court's recent directive suspending the operation of a government order that prohibited public meetings and rallies on roads, including national highways.
A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha agreed to hear the Andhra Pradesh government&rsquo;s petition on Thursday after the standing counsel for the state sought an urgent hearing.
On January 12, the Andhra Pradesh High Court had suspended till January 23 the operation of the government order (GO) that barred public meetings and rallies on state roads and national highways.
"Court is prima facie of the opinion that the impugned GO No.1 is contrary to the procedure provided under Section 30 of the Police Act, 1861," it had held.
The high court had passed the interim order on a writ petition filed by CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna challenging the GO and posted the case for further hearing on January 20. It had sought the state government&rsquo;s response before that date.

The petitioner has contended before the high court that the GO was brought to "stifle" the opposition's voice against the government.
The Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government had issued the order on January 2 midnight in the wake of a stampede at a rally organised by the main opposition Telugu Desam Party at Kandukuru on December 28 last year in which eight people were killed.
The prohibitory order (GO No. 1) was issued under the provisions of the Police Act, 1861 and the state police immediately started implementing it.

The Andhra Pradesh government late on Saturday night constituted a one-man Commission of Inquiry to probe into the circumstances that led to two incidents of stampede in which 11 persons were killed in recent days.
The Commission of Inquiry (CoI) will be headed by Justice B Seshasayana Reddy, a retired judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, an order issued by Chief Secretary K S Jawahar Reddy said.
Eight persons were killed in a stampede at Kandukuru town in SPS Nellore district on December 28, 2022 during a political meeting of Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu.
On January 1, three persons were killed in a stampede at a free gift distribution programme, wherein the tragedy occurred some time after former chief minister Naidu had left the venue.
The CoI has been asked to submit its report in a month.

A couple of months ago, the girl lodged a complaint with the police in Vijayawada against him, following which he was &ldquo;counselled&rdquo; not to harass her.
The student was staying with her friend at Takkellapdu near Guntur for over a week now.
Knowing her whereabouts, Gnaneswar went to Takkellapadu on Monday night and tried talking to her.
Following a heated argument, he took out a surgical knife and slit Tapaswi&rsquo;s throat even as a frightened friend ran out of the house to alert the neighbours.
Gnaneswar dragged a bleeding Tapaswi into an adjoining room and locked it up before the locals came and broke open the doors.
He cut his arm on seeing the locals before he was overpowered.
They handed him over to the police.
Meanwhile, the bleeding girl was taken to a private hospital in Guntur, where she succumbed.
The Pedakakani police registered a case and launched an investigation.&nbsp;

The November 12 incident occured at the Korisapadu underpass in Andhra Pradesh's Bapatla district.&nbsp;
The plane was reportedly being shifted from Kochi to Hyderabad on the trailer of a truck when it got stuck. This led to traffic disruption in the area for a few hours.
Soon after, the police reached the spot and helped in pulling the aircraft as well as truck driver out of the underpass safely.

A massive clash broke out on Sunday at a toll plaza in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati after students from a Tamil Nadu law college were stopped due to payment-related issues.&nbsp;
The students attacked the staff with sticks and metal rods, going on a rampage which reportedly also resulted in damage to a few vehicles present at the spot.&nbsp;
Despite police arriving and confronting the students, the clash continued for a while with no heed for vehicles waiting to pass through at the plaza.&nbsp;
According to an NDTV report, the students were returning after an exam when one of them was stopped at the plaza because his FASTag payment did not work. The student was then asked to back his car up and clear the way for other vehicles waiting in the queue behind them.&nbsp;
This enraged the students who then reportedly attacked the staff with helmets and rods.&nbsp;
Cops rushed to the spot, asking students to not obstruct the movement of other vehicles but the students paid no mind to this instruction.&nbsp;
They only gave way to vehicles having Tamil Nadu registraion and prevented Andhra Pradesh registered vehicles from passing. This led to a fight between the students and locals.&nbsp;
The police has launched a probe into the entire incident and has promised strict action against those involved.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday carried out searches at 40 locations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh against Popular Front of India (PFI) cadres and detained four persons.
The agency conducted searches at 38 locations in Telangana and at two locations in Andhra Pradesh in the case relating to Abdul Khader of Nizamabad district in Telangana and 26 other persons.
In these raids being conducted since Sunday morning, the NIA said, it has seized incriminating materials, including digital devices, documents, two daggers and cash Rs 8,31,500. "Four persons have been detained for questioning," said the anti-terror agency.
As per NIA, the accused were "organizing camps for imparting training to commit terrorist acts and to promote enmity between different groups on the basis of religion". 
During investigations by the Nizamabad Police Station in Telangana, four accused namely, Abdul Kader, Sheikh Sahadulla, Md Imran and Md Abdul Mobin were arrested by Telangana Police. Later, the case was re-registered by the NIA on August 26. 
 

PFI case: NIA conducts raid 40 locations across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh

NIA has seized incriminating materials, including digital devices, documents during the searches.&nbsp;

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday carried out searches at 40 locations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh against Popular Front of India (PFI) cadres and detained four persons.
The agency conducted searches at 38 locations in Telangana and at two locations in Andhra Pradesh in the case relating to Abdul Khader of Nizamabad district in Telangana and 26 other persons.
In these raids being conducted since Sunday morning, the NIA said, it has seized incriminating materials, including digital devices, documents, two daggers and cash Rs 8,31,500. "Four persons have been detained for questioning," said the anti-terror agency.
As per NIA, the accused were "organizing camps for imparting training to commit terrorist acts and to promote enmity between different groups on the basis of religion".&nbsp;

Uma Maheswari, the 57-year-old daughter of legendary Telugu actor, TDP founder and ex-Chief Minister N T Rama Rao (NTR), allegedly died by suicide at her residence here on Monday, police said.
Citing preliminary findings, police said ill-health and depression were suspected to be the reasons for her allegedly taking the extreme step.
However, the observations were not conclusive, they said.
A police official told PTI that Uma Maheswari's younger daughter, son-in-law and a woman relative broke open the door of the bedroom which was bolted from inside after failing to get a response from her.
They found her hanging from the ceiling fan, he said.
A case under Section 174 of CrPC (suicide) was registered at the Jubilee Hills police station, police said, adding the body was sent for post mortem.
Uma Maheswari lives with her husband, who is away, in an apartment at posh Jubilee Hills in the city.
Her younger daughter, who resides in the city, came to her home on Sunday along with her husband.
TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu, a son-in-law of NTR, Naidu’s son Lokesh, NTR's son and veteran Telugu hero N Balakrishna and other family members visited the residence of the deceased.

The real cause of the sickness was, however, not immediately established as medical examination was being conducted.
While some of the workers were administered first aid in the medical centre in the special economic zone, some others were shifted to nearby hospitals, police sources said.
Some of the workers who fell sick were said to be pregnant.
On June 3 too a similar incident occurred in the same place where more than 200 women workers fell unconscious after complaining of eyesore, nausea and vomiting.
It was then suspected that ammonia gas leaked from a nearby Porus Laboratories unit.
A team of experts from the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology in Hyderabad visited the lab and conducted tests to determine the cause of the leak while the AP Pollution Control Board ordered closure of the lab.
The Porus lab was shut down for a few days after the mishap but soon resumed activities.
On Tuesday too the women workers had nausea and vomiting.
The Brandix SEZ employs thousands of workers, mostly women, in the garment manufacturing units.

“We are investigating the cause of the gas leak. I have asked for a report on the incident. The situation is now under control,” the Industries Minister added.
