Actor Ameesha Patel, who is currently enjoying the success of her latest release &lsquo;Gadar 2&rsquo;, talked about her Bollywood debut along with Hrithik Roshan in &lsquo;Kaho Na Pyaar Hai&rsquo; in 2000. In an interview with Pinkvilla, she revealed how many in the film industry were against the release of the film as they thought it would not be able to match up to the other two big releases- Shah Rukh Khan's &lsquo;Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani&rsquo; and Aamir Khan's &lsquo;Mela&rsquo;. Ameesha said, &lsquo;But everyone was against the launch because everyone had no faith in Hrithik (Roshan) because, at the same time, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan's son Abhishek Bachchan was being launched, I was a non-filmy, he was being launched with Kareena so this was a very underdog project till of course Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai actually came to the screens. People asked Mr. Rakesh Roshan to change the release date because we had Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan's films Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Mela before and after us.&rsquo; Ameesha added director Rakesh Roshan trusted his film from the beginning and did not respond to the critical opinions. She said, &lsquo;People asked Rakesh, 'How can you bring these two nobodies in between two hurricanes of films.' And Rakesh uncle said, 'I'm not going to change. I have faith in my film.' That was enough for me and Hrithik that our director had faith in us. It was enough for me that such a big director like Rakesh Roshan was risking his career and his son's career with a new girl like me. So that gave me the confidence that he (Rakesh Roshan) has faith in me, duniya ki maat suno, give your best to your film and that's all. And, the rest is history.&rsquo; &lsquo;Kaho Na Pyaar Hai&rsquo; emerged to become an overnight success and won several awards. Talking about ‘Gadar 2’, she said that the filmmakers have tried to retain the ‘essence’ of the first film.

Speaking with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha Patel said, &lsquo;The era where you could make cinema that a grandchild could sit and watch with a grandparent is completely missing. OTT for sure doesn&rsquo;t give you that.&rsquo;

Actor Ameesha Patel, who is actively promoting her forthcoming film &lsquo;Gadar 2&rsquo;, made some homophobic comments in a recent interview. Speaking with Bollywood Hungama, the actor said that audiences are hungry for &lsquo;clean&rsquo; entertainment, which cannot be found on OTT platforms. She said that content on streaming is &lsquo;full of homosexuality, gay-lesbianism&rsquo; and parents are forced to cover their kids&rsquo; eyes or actually put a child lock on their television.
She said, &lsquo;People are waiting for good, clean cinema. The era where you could make cinema that a grandchild could sit and watch with a grandparent is completely missing. OTT for sure doesn&rsquo;t give you that. Because OTT is full of, homosexuality, gay-lesbianism&hellip; Scenes that you have to cover your kids&rsquo; eyes or actually put a child lock on your television so they can&rsquo;t access those platforms. It&rsquo;s not something you really want your kids to watch&rsquo;.
Ameesha went on to say that Bollywood has always been synonymous with escapist entertainment.
&lsquo;Indians couldn&rsquo;t travel that much, we didn&rsquo;t have that much fashion. Everything that you wanted was through cinema&hellip; We didn&rsquo;t even have an organised music industry. You depended on film music; costumes, fashion, everything came from cinema, and I think people are missing that essence. Gadar, they feel, is an answer to that,&rsquo; she added.
Talking about &lsquo;Gadar 2&rsquo;, she said that the filmmakers have tried to retain the &lsquo;essence&rsquo; of the first film.
&lsquo;It&rsquo;s got the family values, it&rsquo;s got the heart-wrenching moments, the great action, the dialogues, the music; everything you expect from Gadar is there,&rsquo; she said.

Speaking with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha said, &lsquo;In this industry, honesty is not welcome and I am someone, who is very honest. I am someone, who wears my heart on my sleeves. I think that has been the biggest drawback for me in my life. And definitely, the only two relationships that I ever had in public, the only two I ever had, they did take a beating on my career. For 12-13 years, I was like, &lsquo;No men. Only peace. I want nothing else in my life&rsquo;.
&lsquo;The single status of a girl is always more attractive to the people that you work around. It&rsquo;s always more attractive for your audiences. And they feel if you&rsquo;re single or you&rsquo;re dating someone in the industry or a superstar, that only benefits your career. Otherwise, they don&rsquo;t accept it. Ameesha and Vikram Bhatt reportedly dated each other while working on the 2006 movie &lsquo;Ankahee&rsquo;. They parted ways two years later.

In 2018, when Ameesha Patel visited Ranchi to attend a programme at Harmu Ground. She met businessman Ajay Kumar Singh and discussed with him the financing of a film. Singh owns Lovely World Entertainment.
Singh invested in the filmmaking project. However, the film did not come through. He asked Ameesha to return his money. She returned the Rs 2.50 Crore amount through cheque but the cheque bounced. In November 2021, Ameesha made headlines for a similar reason when her cheque of Rs 32.25 lakh to UTF Telefilms bounced.
The news of Ameesha&rsquo;s surrender comes at a time when she is all set to make a silver-screen comeback with &lsquo;Gadar 2&rsquo;, also starring Sunny Deol.
&lsquo;Gadar: Ek Prem Katha&rsquo; released in cinemas on June 9. The second installment of the movie will hit the theatres on August 11. The movie will clash at the box office with Ranbir Kapoor starrer &lsquo;Animal&rsquo; and Akshay Kumar starrer &lsquo;OMG 2&rsquo;.
The promotions for &lsquo;Gadar 2&rsquo; have already started.&nbsp;

As per the India Today report, Ajay Kumar Singh, a film producer, has registered a case of fraud, intimidation, and cheque bounce against Ameesha and her business partner.

Actor Ameesha Patel has landed in legal trouble. A warrant has been issued against the actor and her business partner Krunal by a Ranchi civil court on Thursday in a fraud and cheque bounce case. As per the India Today report, Ajay Kumar Singh, a film producer, registered a case of fraud, intimidation, and cheque bounce against the duo.
He accused them of taking Rs 2.5 crores from him for the making and publicity of a film titled 'Desi Magic'. He said that they had promised that they would 'return the money along with interest after the completion of the film, but it was never released.'
After a lot of delays, she gave him two cheques for Rs 2.5 crore and Rs 50 lakh in October 2018, which bounced.
According to India Today, the court expressed its displeasure as neither Ameesha nor her lawyer appeared before the court to keep her stand despite the summons. The next hearing in the case is now scheduled for April 15. Ameesha has been booked under sections 420 and 120 of the CrPC after she did not appear before the court despite multiple summons.
