J&amp;K Police filed an FIR against Orry and seven others for consuming alcohol in Katra, near Vaishno Devi. The incident, contrary to the area's alcohol ban, drew public ire on social media.

In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered an FIR against social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, commonly known as Orry, and seven others.
The charges stem from allegations of consuming alcohol within Katra town, which serves as the base for pilgrims heading to the revered Mata Vaishno Devi shrine located in the Trikuta Hills.
The case was lodged under Section 223 of the BNS, which pertains to disobedience of an order by a public servant, at the Katra police station. In light of the town's proximity to the temple, the Union Territory administration maintains a strict prohibition on the consumption and sale of alcohol and non-vegetarian products in the area.
According to the police, the accused allegedly indulged in liquor consumption on a hotel premises despite explicit instructions prohibiting such activities. Reasi SSP Paramvir Singh has reinforced a zero-tolerance stance on drug and alcohol use in religious locales and has mandated the apprehension of those involved to set a deterrent precedent.
The incident gained attention after photos circulated on social media, stirring discontent among local residents. However, by the time authorities moved to act, the accused had reportedly vacated the hotel and departed from Katra, sources indicate.
Alongside Awatramani, those named in the FIR include Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Ritick Singh, Rashi Dutta, Rakshita Bhogal, Shagun Kohli, and Anastasia Arzamaskina. A special team has been formed to locate and bring the individuals to account, police officials stated.

Inside his Abu Dhabi gastro pub, Chad McGehee inspects shiny steel tanks fermenting a special brew: the first beer made in the conservative Arab Gulf, where alcohol has long been taboo.
The 42-year-old American is one of the founders of Craft pub in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, the only licensed microbrewery in a region that is generally as dry as its desert climate.
As they seek to overhaul their image and economies in preparation for a post-oil future, some Gulf petro-states are relaxing alcohol restrictions, with entrepreneurs such as McGehee looking to benefit from the changes.
Just a few hours' drive from Abu Dhabi lies Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam, which has just one licensed alcohol store, open only to non-Muslim foreign diplomats.
Alcohol sales are heavily restricted in Oman and Qatar and are outright banned in Kuwait, and in Sharjah, one of the UAE's seven emirates and a neighbour to cosmopolitan Dubai.
"We hope that we can make Abu Dhabi a destination people come to for beer, like Germany, New York or San Diego," McGehee told AFP on a recent visit to Craft, as patrons sipped beer nearby.
"We want to be part of that."
The UAE has steadily loosened laws around alcohol. Last year, Dubai scrapped a 30 percent tax on alcohol and removed charges on the permits that allow non-Muslims to use its licensed stores.
In 2021, Abu Dhabi became the only emirate to allow licensed venues to brew on-site, stipulating that the beer be served only on the premises.
Rules are slowly changing elsewhere: Saudi Arabia opened its store in the capital Riyadh this year, prompting speculation it may further relax alcohol laws in the future.
However, Tourism Minister Ahmed Al Khateeb told AFP last month that the national ban will remain in place.

McGehee founded Side Hustle Brews and Spirits in 2019, at that point offering the UAE's first home-branded -- albeit imported -- beer.
After Abu Dhabi allowed brewing, he co-founded Craft, which offers between eight and 14 beers at a time, many of them rich in local flavours such as karak tea, a popular drink in the Gulf.
"Whatever we find at the local souq (market), we try to make something out of it," McGehee said at Craft, where beer taps are linked directly to the brewing tanks.
"We have used local honey, local dates, and coffee... we have another (beer) that uses black tea and saffron and cardamom," added McGehee, referring to the ingredients of karak tea.
In the UAE, whose population of around 10 million is 90 percent foreign, the sale and consumption of alcohol was once confined to hotel bars frequented by expatriates.
According to Alexandre Kazerouni, associate professor at France's Ecole Normale Superieure, the Gulf monarchies began to skew heavily towards conservatism and a commitment to religion after Iran's shah was toppled in the Islamic revolution of 1979.
It was only in the 2000s that Abu Dhabi, the dominant emirate in a country with more than 9,000 mosques, began to cultivate a more liberal image, gradually relaxing social curbs including those around alcohol, which is forbidden in some interpretations of Islam.
The change of alcohol regulations "breaks with the bans that were consolidated in the '80s and '90s," Kazerouni said.
"There is competition... with Qatar and Saudi Arabia over who will embody change in the region," he added.
Party hub&nbsp;
Abu Dhabi, which aims to attract nearly 40 million tourists by 2030, up from 24 million last year, is also competing with Dubai, renowned as the UAE's holiday and party hub which commands a higher international profile.
Craft customer Andrew Burgess, a Briton who has lived in the UAE for 17 years, said he has watched the country transform before his eyes.
When he first moved there, expatriates were barred from eating or drinking in public during the holy month of Ramadan, when Muslims fast from dawn to dusk.
"To come to a bar, you had to go at night-time after everything was covered," he said.
All that has since changed, but Western attitudes towards Gulf countries have yet to catch up.
"If I go back to England, my friends say 'How do you live in a Muslim country? Your wife must be suppressed and you can't drink'," Burgess told AFP.

A man was arrested in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam after he allegedly set a wine shop on fire after he was denied alcohol.
The incident occurred after an argument broke out between the man and the shop staff refused service as it was closing time.
The accused later returned with a petrol tank and poured fuel on the shop and lit a fire. The staffers ran away from the shop which burned and property worth more than ₹1.5 lakh was destroyed.
"A case was filed against the accused under Sections 307 and 436 of the IPC," said Inspector Rama Krishna, adding that the accused was taken into police custody.

Publishing in&nbsp;Human Reproduction, the study claims that&nbsp;alcohol intake and fecundability, which is defined as the probability of conceiving during a single menstrual cycle are closely linked.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Assessing self-reported data from&nbsp;313&nbsp;women collected over 19 menstrual cycles, the team found that heavy&nbsp;and moderate&nbsp;alcohol consumption&nbsp;during any phase of the cycle was substantially linked to a reduced probability of conception compared to non-drinkers.&nbsp;Heavy drinking&nbsp;during the ovulatory part of the cycle&nbsp;reduced the odds of pregnancy by&nbsp;as much as&nbsp;61&nbsp;per cent.&nbsp;
For the purpose of this research, heavy drinking was defined as more than six alcoholic drinks a week, while moderate drinking was measured as three to six drinks in a week.&nbsp;
The researchers cautioned that the findings must not be misconstrued to&nbsp;look at alcohol as a birth control option. Drinking heavily or not,&nbsp;if someone has unprotected intercourse, pregnancy is always a&nbsp;possibility.

For the research, the team invited 105 men and 105 women to visit their laboratory, which they designed to look like a bar, with stools, an actual bartender and lively conversations. They were randomised into different groups, with some either experiencing a stressful situation and others a non-stressful situation. All participants had unrestricted access to alcoholic drinks from the bar for 90 minutes.
As per the findings, both the men and women exposed to stress during the study drank heavier than the other participants. Among the stressed men, those who started with alcohol consumed more of it overall than those who started with non-alcoholic beverages. The stressed women, however, drank more across the board, no matter if they started out with an alcoholic drink or not.
Though rates of alcohol misuse are higher in men than women, women are catching up and have a greater risk of developing alcohol-related problems,&nbsp;researchers concluded.

However, a new&nbsp;German&nbsp;study says that there&rsquo;s no real added benefit of drinking any amount of alcohol. In fact, the so-called benefits can be chalked up to&nbsp;risky behaviours of alcohol abstainers in their earlier life.
Published in the journal&nbsp;<a href="https://journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/article?id=10.1371/journal.pmed.1003819#sec014" target="_blank">PLOS Medicine</a>, the research&nbsp;found that factors like former dependence on alcohol or drugs, risky drinking and&nbsp;cigarette&nbsp;smoking&nbsp;significantly&nbsp;affected the health risks in alcohol-abstainers.
The team found that&nbsp;people&nbsp;who don&rsquo;t drink&nbsp;alcohol will not usually have a higher mortality risk than those who consume low to moderate amounts. This&nbsp;means that there is no reason to recommend drinking alcohol for health benefits.
