India hit nine terror targets crisscrossing Pakistan with precision and missed none of them during Operation Sindoor, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval said on Friday, taking pride in India's capability and technological abilities in neutralising the threats from across the border.
The precision was to the point where India knew who was where, and the entire operation lasted hardly 23 minutes past 1 am on May 7, he said.
"Thereafter, they said Pakistan did this and so on. Can you tell me of one image or photograph that shows any damage to India," Doval asked while speaking at the 62nd convocation ceremony of IIT, Madras.
India launched Operation Sindoor on terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, post the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 persons, mostly tourists, were killed.
Addressing the students, Doval also said the link between technology and warfare was very important, and that the country should develop indigenous technology to meet its requirements.
Referring to the earlier speaker, Padma Subrahmanyam&mdash;Padma Vibhushan awardee and legendary danseuse&mdash;congratulating him for the success of Operation Sindoor and evoking thunderous applause from the students and graduands, the NSA said, "I am really proud of it (Operation Sindoor). Much of it was driven by indigenous content." "We are proud of it&mdash;that some of our best systems worked, whether it was BrahMos (missiles), the integrated air control and command system, or battlefield surveillance. We decided on nine terrorist targets, not in the border areas but in the crisscross of Pakistan, and we missed none." No unintended site was struck, and the strike was precise to the point where "we knew who was where. And the entire operation lasted for 23 minutes," he said.
In a subtle rebuttal to international media coverage questioning the operation's effectiveness, the NSA said, "They wrote what they wanted. But satellite images tell the real story&mdash;that 13 Pakistan airbases, before and after May 10, show exactly what happened." Earlier, speaking at the convocation, Padma Subrahmanyam said the historic victory of Operation Sindoor was a manifestation of adherence to the valour that the Bhagavad Gita preaches.
"As a proud Indian, I have always offered my salutations to our jawans, who are our national guardian angels," she said, congratulating Doval for his role in the operation.
At the event, Doval said the country could not afford to lose the technology battle and remain behind or fall decades behind others.
He acknowledged the role of IIT, Madras and the private sector in developing 5G in two-and-a-half years' time, whereas the Chinese took over 12 years and spent 300 billion dollars to develop 5G technology.
"Even a screw that deals with anything related to data or security protection must come from a trusted source. It is either made in India or by somebody who is very close to India," he added, emphasising the need to totally insulate our system from the enemy.&nbsp;

China expressed optimism about talks saying that it is ready to work with India to implement commitments based on common understandings reached between PM Modi and President Xi Jinping during their meeting at Kazan in Russia on October 24.

India, China Special Representatives for the border mechanism, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met here on Wednesday to discuss a range of issues, including management of peace and tranquillity along LAC and restoration of bilateral ties frozen for over four years due to the military standoff in eastern Ladakh.
Mr Doval, who is heading the Indian delegation, arrived here on Tuesday to take part in the 23rd round of the Special Representatives' talks being held after a gap of five years. The last meeting was held in 2019 in Delhi.
The talks began at 10 am China time.
The two officials were expected to discuss a range of issues to rebuild the bilateral ties following the October 21 agreement of disengagement and patrolling in eastern Ladakh between the two countries.
On Tuesday, China expressed optimism about the talks saying that it is ready to work with India to implement the commitments based on the common understandings reached between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping during their meeting at Kazan in Russia on the sidelines of the BRICS summit on October 24.
China is prepared to settle differences with sincerity, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian told a media briefing here when asked about the Special Representatives (SR) talks.
China is ready to work with India to implement the important common understandings between the leaders of China and India, respect each other's core interests and major concerns, strengthen mutual trust through dialogue and communication, properly settle differences with sincerity and good faith, and bring bilateral relations back to the track of stable and healthy development as soon as possible, he said.
The two SRs will discuss the management of peace and tranquillity in the border areas and explore a fair, reasonable, and mutually acceptable solution to the boundary question, as agreed upon during the meeting of the two leaders in Kazan, the External Affairs Ministry said on Monday.
After the PM Modi-Xi meeting, which was their first after five years, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart met on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Brazil followed by a meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation &amp; Coordination on China-India Border Affairs (WMCC).
The military standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh began in May 2020 and was followed by a deadly clash at the Galwan Valley in June of that year resulting in a severe strain in ties between the two neighbours.
Barring trade, relations between the two countries virtually came to a standstill.
The face-off effectively ended following the completion of the disengagement process from the last two friction points of Demchok and Depsang under an agreement finalised on October 21.
The SRs' meeting is regarded as significant as it is the first structured engagement between the two countries to restore relations.
Constituted in 2003 to comprehensively address the vexed dispute of the India-China border spanning 3,488 km, the SRs mechanism over the years met 22 times.
While success eluded it in resolving the boundary dispute, officials on both sides regard it as a very promising, useful and handy tool in addressing the recurring tensions between the two countries.&nbsp; (Except for the headline, this story has not been edited by Editorji News Desk and is published from a syndicated feed.)

Spymaster Ajit Doval and seasoned bureaucrat P K Mishra were on Thursday re-appointed to the post of National Security Adviser and principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a fresh five-year term.
Both Doval and Mishra worked on their respective crucial posts during the last two tenures of the governments headed by Modi.
With the fresh appointment, Doval has become the first NSA to be appointed to the key post for three consecutive terms.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the two appointments with effect from June 10, 2024, the Personnel Ministry said.
Their appointment "will be co-terminus with the term of the prime minister or until further orders whichever is earlier", it said in identical orders.
Both Doval and Mishra will be assigned the rank of Cabinet Minister in the Table of Precedence and terms and conditions of their appointment will be notified separately, the ministry said.
Doval, who belongs to the 1968 batch of Indian Police Service, retired as Intelligence Bureau chief in 2005. He was appointed as the NSA for the first time on May 30, 2014, and re-appointed for another term on May 31, 2019.
During his first tenure, Doval is believed to have played a pivotal role in the surgical strikes on terror launch pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after the Uri terror attack.
He has also been widely hailed for his contribution to the national security domain, including his role during the Balakot air strike after the Pulwama terror attack, officials said.
Doval, known as one of the best operational brains in intelligence circles, was one of the main negotiators from India with the hijackers of Indian Airlines plane IC-814 taken to Kandahar in 1999.
He worked with the IB for more than 33 years in different roles and in areas including the Northeast, Jammu and Kashmir, and Punjab. He served in the United Kingdom as well.
Another key officer, Mishra has held various key positions at the Centre and in the Gujarat government.
He served as Additional Principal Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in Modi's first term as the Prime Minister from 2014 to 2019.
Mishra, a 1972 batch retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Gujarat cadre, was re-appointed to the same post with effect from May 31, 2019, during Modi's second term.
He was in September 2019 appointed as the principal secretary to the PM. His term was on a co-terminus basis with Modi's tenure.
Mishra had served between 2001 and 2004 as the principal secretary to Modi when he was the Gujarat chief minister.
A veteran bureaucrat, he was the secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture between December 1, 2006 and August 31, 2008.
After his retirement, Mishra was appointed the chairman of the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission for a five-year term.
Meanwhile, the ACC has also approved the reappointment of former Indian Administrative Service officers Amit Khare and Tarun Kapoor as advisers to the PM for two years with effect from June 10, 2024.
Khare, a 1985 batch retired IAS officer of Jharkhand cadre, was in October 2021 appointed as adviser to Modi.
Kapoor, a 1987 batch retired IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, was named as the adviser in May 2022.&nbsp;

&ldquo;Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met today with Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and updated him on recent developments in the fighting in the Gaza Strip,&rdquo; the Israeli Prime Minister posted on X from his official handle.
&ldquo;The sides also discussed the effort to release the hostages and the issue of humanitarian assistance,&rdquo; he said.
Doval also met his Israeli counterpart Tzakhi Hanegbi, who was also present during the meeting with Netanyahu.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been constantly in touch with the important leaders in the region, such as the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan, and is actively involved in discussions to promote peace and stability in the region.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday held wide-ranging discussions in Moscow and agreed to continue working towards implementing the strategic partnership between the two countries.
The Indian embassy in Moscow said the discussions were focused on bilateral and regional issues, but it did not elaborate on the issues.
"NSA Ajit Doval called on HE President Putin. Wide-ranging discussion on bilateral and regional issues. Agreed to continue work towards implementing the India-Russia strategic partnership," the embassy tweeted.
Doval began his two-day visit to Russia on Wednesday.
On Monday, Russian Ambassador to New Delhi Denis Alipov said Russia wants to further diversify its relations with India.
The NSA's visit to Russia came three months after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar travelled to the country during which the two sides vowed to expand their economic engagement including India's import of petroleum products from its "time-tested" partner.
On Wednesday, Doval attended the fifth meeting of Secretaries of Security Councils/NSAs on Afghanistan which was hosted by Russia.
In the meeting, Doval said no country should be allowed to use Afghan territory to export terrorism and asserted that India will never abandon the people of Afghanistan in their time of need.
Besides Russia and India, the meeting was attended by representatives from &nbsp;Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Doval's visit to Moscow comes weeks ahead of the G-20 foreign ministers' meeting in New Delhi.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is expected to travel to India to attend the meeting on March 1 and 2.
The ties between India and Russia remained strong notwithstanding Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
India's import of Russian crude oil has gone up significantly in the last few months despite increasing disquiet over it in many Western countries.

United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak made a special gesture during Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval's trip to the country. When Doval met his UK counterpart in London, Rishi Sunak also joined the meeting "for a while", Indian officials said on 4 February 2023.
The Indian High Commission in UK said it "deeply values" Sunak's assurance of full support to deepen strategic partnership with India in areas like trade, defence, and science and technology. Sunak created history in 2022 by becoming UK's first Indian-origin Prime Minister.
UK NSA Tim Barrow is also slated to visit India soon.
Earlier, Doval led a high-powered delegation to the US that included five secretary level officials and members of the Indian corporate sector from the hi-tech area for the launch of the India-US initiative on critical and emerging technologies (iCET) at the White House along with his American counterpart Jake Sullivan.
During the visit from January 30 to February 1, National Security Advisor Doval interacted with US policymakers and stakeholders across the Government, Congress, business, academic and research communities on a range of bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest.

India's National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and his American counterpart Jake Sullivan launched the initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) on 31 January 2023, elevating the strategic partnership on technology between the two countries. Doval and Sullivan also shared their assessments of major global and regional developments.
The Indian NSA also met US Deputy Secretary of Defense, Kathleen Hicks. The discussions revolved around priorities for the US-India bilateral defence partnership, increasing defence industrial cooperation between the two countries, and strengthening policy and operational coordination in the Indo-Pacific region.
She thanked Doval for India&rsquo;s leadership in the region and discussed avenues to deepen coordination between the US and Indian militaries to address the region&rsquo;s increasingly contested strategic environment, Pahon said.
"The two also discussed opportunities to increase bilateral defense industrial cooperation through innovative joint endeavors between US and Indian firms that support India&rsquo;s unique operational requirements," he said.

Financial support is the "lifeblood" of terrorism and greater priority should be accorded to counter terror financing, NSA Ajit Doval said on Tuesday while hosting his counterparts from the Central Asian region with an aim to evolve a common framework to confront major regional security challenges.
In his address at the inaugural India-Central Asia meeting of national security advisors, Doval also said that connectivity projects should respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries, in remarks that came amid increasing criticism of China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Describing Central Asia as India's "extended neighbourhood", Doval said New Delhi accords "highest priority" to this region, adding Afghanistan is an important issue "concerning all of us".

Doval hosted the conclave with a focus on evolving a common framework to deal with challenges of terrorism in the region including Afghanistan and ways to bolster overall security cooperation in sync with a decision taken at the first India-Central Asia summit in January.
The National Security Advisor began by saying that the meeting is taking place at a time of "great churn" in international relations and uncertainty about the future, noting a peaceful, secure and prosperous Central Asia is in "our common interest".
"Today's meeting, therefore, assumes importance as it provides us an opportunity to discuss matters which require greater cooperation and coordination amongst the regional countries," he said In his brief address, Doval largely focused on the challenge of terrorism, the situation in Afghanistan and the importance of regional connectivity projects.
"Financing of terrorism is its lifeblood and countering terror financing should be an equal priority for all of us," he said, amid India's growing concern over use of Afghan soil for terrorist activities including by Pakistan-origin terror groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The NSAs of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are attending the conclave while Turkmenistan is being represented by its ambassador to India.
"Afghanistan is an important issue concerning all of us. India's concerns and objectives with regard to immediate priorities and the way forward are similar to those of many of us around the table," he said.
Doval said connectivity with Central Asian countries remained a key priority for India and that New Delhi stands ready to cooperate, invest and build connectivity in the region.
"We should also call on all UN members to fulfil obligations enshrined in relevant counter-terror conventions and protocols and refrain from providing any form of support to entities or persons involved in terrorist acts," he said.
Doval said connectivity with Central Asian countries remained a key priority for India and that New Delhi stands ready to cooperate, invest and build connectivity in the region.
"While expanding connectivity, it is important to ensure that connectivity initiatives are consultative, transparent and participatory, with respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries," he said, seen as an oblique reference to China's BRI.
Doval also referred to the first India-Central Asia virtual summit in January that was hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"Your presence is a testimony to our cohesiveness and it will enrich the discussions. Central Asia is our extended neighbourhood with which we have civilisational linkages and we accord highest priority to this region," Doval said.
"At the January meeting of our leaders agreed to convene regular meetings of secretaries of security councils to discuss security-related developments in the region. This forms the basis of the meeting," he said.
Tajikistan's Secretary of the Security Council said threats to security in the region are growing and new challenges and threats are emerging.
"These include cyber crime, cyber terrorism and environmental, biological threats," he said. The security situation in Afghanistan and the evolving dynamics in that country figured in the deliberations.
A number of Central Asian countries share land borders with Afghanistan and there have been concerns by them after the Taliban seized power in Kabul in August last year.
It is learnt that India and the Central Asian countries have similarities in approach to countering terrorism and the threat of radicalisation.
Boosting connectivity including making the Chabahar port in Iran a part of the International North-South Transport Corridor was to be part of the discussions.
Located in the Sistan-Balochistan province on the energy-rich Iran's southern coast, the Chabahar port is being developed by India, Iran and Afghanistan to boost connectivity and trade ties.
At a connectivity conference in Tashkent in July last year, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar projected Iran's Chabahar Port as a key regional transit hub including Afghanistan.
The International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is a 7,200-km-long multi-mode transport project for moving freight among India, Iran, Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Central Asia and Europe. India has been supporting the project.

India was and is an important stakeholder in Afghanistan, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval said on Friday and called for enhancing the capability of the war-torn country to counter terrorism and terrorist groups which pose a threat to regional peace and security.
Speaking at the 4th Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan in Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe, Doval said that India has historical and civilisational relations with Afghanistan and New Delhi has always stood by the people of Afghanistan and it will continue to guide India’s approach.
"The special relationship with the people of Afghanistan over centuries will guide India’s approach. Nothing can change this," Doval told the meeting which was attended by his counterparts from Tajikistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and China.
While discussing the situation in the war-torn country and the region with his regional counterparts here, Doval emphasised that India was and is an important stakeholder in Afghanistan.
Doval's remarks assumes importance as Pakistan, which views Afghanistan as its protectorate, has been maintaining that India has no role to play in the war-torn nation. Pakistan did not attend the last edition of the meeting hosted by India in November 2021.
The top security officials, who discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the region, highlighted the need to find constructive ways to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan and combating risks from terrorism emanating from the region, sources said.
"There is a need for all present at the Dialogue to enhance capability of Afghanistan to counter terrorism and terrorist groups which pose a threat to regional peace and security," Doval said.
He said the foremost priority should be the right to life and a dignified living as well as protection of human rights of all the people in Afghanistan.
"Assistance should be accessible to all, respect for all obligations under international humanitarian law should be ensured,” he added.
India has focused on infrastructure, connectivity and humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan over the decades.
After August 2021, India has already provided 17000 MT of wheat out of a total commitment of 50000 MT, 500000 doses of Covaxin, 13 tonnes of essential life saving medicines and winter clothing as well as 60 million doses of polio vaccine.
Doval also highlighted the need for representation of all sections of Afghan society including women and minorities so that the collective energies of the largest possible proportion of the Afghan population feel motivated to contribute to nation building.
"Women and youth are critical for the future of any society. Provision of education to girls and employment to women and youth will ensure productivity and spur growth. It will also have a positive social impact including discouraging radical ideologies among youth,” he said.
"With collective efforts of Regional Dialogue members, we can help proud people of Afghanistan to build a prosperous and vibrant nation once again,” he said.
Doval also met his counterparts from Iran, Tajikistan, Russia and other partners in the Dialogue on the sidelines of the meeting.
The dialogue is aimed at firming up a common approach for practical cooperation in confronting increasing threats of terrorism, radicalisation and drug trafficking following the Taliban's takeover of Kabul in August last.
India had hosted the dialogue in November 2021 in New Delhi which was attended by eight nations including Iran and Russia.

India was and is an important stakeholder in Afghanistan, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval said on Friday and called for enhancing the capability of the war-torn country to counter terrorism and terrorist groups which pose a threat to regional peace and security.
Speaking at the 4th Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan in Tajikistan&rsquo;s capital Dushanbe, Doval said that India has historical and civilisational relations with Afghanistan and New Delhi has always stood by the people of Afghanistan and it will continue to guide India&rsquo;s approach.
"The special relationship with the people of Afghanistan over centuries will guide India&rsquo;s approach. Nothing can change this," Doval told the meeting which was attended by his counterparts from Tajikistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and China.
While discussing the situation in the war-torn country and the region with his regional counterparts here, Doval emphasised that India was and is an important stakeholder in Afghanistan.

Doval's remarks assumes importance as Pakistan, which views Afghanistan as its protectorate, has been maintaining that India has no role to play in the war-torn nation. Pakistan did not attend the last edition of the meeting hosted by India in November 2021.

A man hailing from Bengaluru was apprehended by security agencies for allegedly trying to enter the residence of National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Wednesday, triggering a minor security alarm, officials said.
The incident took place around 7:30 AM when a red-colour SUV, being driven by a single person, attempted a forced entry through the gate of Doval's high security central Delhi residence, official sources said.
The car was intercepted outside the entry gate and the man was nabbed by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel who guard Doval's house.
The NSA is secured under the top Z+ category of CISF commandos.
Doval was present at his residence when the incident took place.
The man was later handed over to the police.
He has been identified as Shantanu Reddy from Bengaluru and looks to be mentally unstable, they said.
The car was hired from Noida, officials added.
"A man tried to enter the house of NSA on Wednesday morning. The security stopped him. When he was aksed some questions, he is not in state of giving answers. He is mentally unsound," the officer said.

The government announced on Tuesday that principal secretary Nripendra Misra and additional principal secretary Pramod Kumar Misra will continue in their positions in the Prime Minister’s Office.
