Govt is likely to handover control of the airline to the new owners by December.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Maharaja&nbsp;of today took flight first in 1932 when the Tata&nbsp;Group founded the then named&nbsp;Tata Airlines with none other than JRD&nbsp;Tata&nbsp;at the helm. However, the government nationalised the airline in 1953 after rebranding it Air India in 1946.&nbsp;

Tata&nbsp;consortium will pay Rs 18,000 crore to acquire Air India from the government and of the total money 15% would go to the government and the rest to clear part of the debt.&nbsp; What does the Tata&nbsp;Group get? Tata&nbsp;Group can now stake claim to&nbsp;Air India's 4,400 domestic and 1,800 international landing and parking slots at domestic airports, as well as 900 slots at overseas airports.&nbsp;
The deal also includes Air India&rsquo;s profitable low-cost arm Air India Express and 50 percent of AISATS, which offers cargo and ground handling services at major Indian airports.&nbsp;
