In less than 24 hours after he had officially "rejected" the 'Hybrid Model' for the Asia Cup after Asian Cricket Council's formal nod, Pakistan Cricket Board's soon-to-be chairman Zaka Ashraf did a complete 'volte-face' by accepting the four matches awarded to the original hosts.
The Hybrid Model by virtue of which Asia Cup will be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka will have India playing all their games, including two against the arch-rivals in the island nation.
The model was proposed by Ashraf's predecessor and bete noire Najam Sethi and the banker, who will take over the reins of PCB on June 27 had "rejected" the idea during a media conference.
It has been learnt that Ashraf didn't know that PCB chief Sethi had already been a signatory to 'Hybrid Model' which has been passed by the all-powerful ACC Executive board headed by BCCI supremo Jay Shah and the decision can't be reversed.
Pakistan Cricket Board could have faced punitive action if Ashraf without full details of the event would have created a roadblock.
"In my personal opinion, this whole hybrid model isn't beneficial for Pakistan and I didn't like it," Ashraf was quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo.
"Being a host, Pakistan should have negotiated better to make sure that the entire tournament should have been played in Pakistan. Sri Lanka taking the bigger lot of games, leaving Pakistan with only four games, isn't in the best interest of our country," he added.
Ashraf then admitted that he didn't know full details and did a complete U-turn.
"But I see the decision has been made, so we have to go with it. I will not block or have any intention not to comply with the decision. I cannot do much about it but to honour the commitment. But going forward, every decision we make will be made for and in the interest of the country."

But the thing is we need to look at our part. And we should fight for it. We don&rsquo;t care because we are getting to host our cricket. This is ICC&rsquo;s job. If ICC can&rsquo;t control this there&rsquo;s no use of the governing body. They need to implement similar rules for every team. If teams like these don&rsquo;t come, they should be debarred. India hoga, apne liye hoga. Hmare liye nahi hai.&ldquo; said Javed in a public event.
&nbsp;&ldquo;Come and play. Why don&rsquo;t they? They run. For them it becomes a trouble if they come here and lose to us. The public there can&rsquo;t stomach it. It&rsquo;s always been the case. During our time, they used to not play because of the same reason. Riots and fighting take place there. The crowd there is very nasty. You would&rsquo;ve seen whenever India loses, to anyone, the crowd there burns down houses. When we used to play, they had faced such troubles.&rdquo; He added.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has accepted Pakistan Cricket Board's request to hold a meeting in February to discuss India's participation in the Asia Cup this year

"It is a major development that the ACC the board will meet on 4th February in Bahrain and matters relating to the Asia Cup will be discussed." Sethi said on Monday.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Najam Sethi told the media that The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has accepted Pakistan Cricket Board's request to have an executive board meeting on February 4 in Bahrain to discuss India's participation in this year's Asia Cup taking place in Pakistan.
"It is a major development that the ACC the board will meet on 4th February in Bahrain and matters relating to the Asia Cup will be discussed. There will also be a ICC meeting in March and I don't want to go public with what negotiations I had with ACC members in Dubai or what I plan to do, argue or discuss at the coming meetings. But yes definitely India and Pakistan cricket relations are important.&rdquo; Sethi said on Monday.
Earlier, Jay Shah said that the Indian cricket team won't be travelling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup and the tournament would be relocated somewhere else, like it had happened in 2018.

The Asian Cricket Council has responded to PCB chief Najam Sethi's allegations that the ACC cricket calendar was unilaterally decided by President Jay Shah.
In a statement, the ACC clarified that the calendar was communicated to all member nations through an email on Dec 22 and that PCB made no comments or suggested any modifications during that time.
It further stated that Najam Sethi's comments on social media are 'baseless'.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated ahead of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai on Tuesday that Team India won't travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023.&nbsp;
The 2023 Asia Cup is scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan and earlier reports had suggested that the BCCI was open to sending Team India to participate in the tournament. However, Jay Shah, who is also the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president, clarified that wasn't the case and the 2023 Asia Cup may be played at a neutral venue and not Pakistan.
India had last toured Pakistan for a bilateral series in 2005, while the arch-rivals last locked horns in a bilateral series in 2012. Since then India and Pakistan only face each other in ICC and ACC events.

Akram also added that after the 10-15 year period where no cricket was played in Pakistan, teams have now finally resumed touring the nation.

Following Jay Shah's statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also stated that this decision could also lead to Pakistan pulling out of the 2023 ODI World Cup set to take place in India.

Sri Lanka Cricket on July 20 informed the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) that it will be unable to host the Asia Cup in the county due to the ongoing economic and political crisis.
An Asian Cricket Council source told news agency PTI that it's not an ideal situation for them to host such a mega-event of six teams on the island specially where foreign exchange is concerned. The official added that Sri Lanka has expressed to host the tournament in the UAE or another venue.&nbsp;
'UAE is not the final replacement venue, it could be some other country, even India,' he further added. With the tournament due to start in late August, the ACC is likely to make an announcement in the next few days.
Sri Lanka Cricket had also postponed the Lanka Premier League due the poilitical situation in their country. However, bilateral series are being played in Sri Lanka with Australia, India women and Pakistan touring the island nation for Tests and white-ball series.

The world's largest cement maker Holcim last month announced its exit from the country after struggling here for a long. The company through two listed entities <a href="https://www.editorji.com/business-news/ambuja-cements-acc-up-for-sale-1649909380297" target="_blank">ACC</a> and Ambuja has 66 million tonnes per annum capacity (MTPA).
Holcim was in talks with several business houses including Aditya Birla Group, which owns the leading cement players UltraTech and steel-to-energy conglomerate JSW Group.
The group, which had entered the market 17 years ago, holds a 63.19 per cent stake in Ambuja and a 4.48 per cent in ACC while Ambuja owns a 50.05 per cent stake in ACC.
ACC has 17 cement manufacturing units, 9 captive power plants and 6,643 employees along with a distribution network of 56,000 dealers &amp; retailers and a countrywide.
