JIO's rapidly expanding 5G network now covers an additional 41 cities, spanning across 16 states and union territories, as per the company's statement. These include Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu &amp; Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Tripura. With this expansion, JIO 5G is now accessible in 406 cities all over India, making it the only telecom operator to have accomplished such a vast network in a brief period.
JIO users in the 406 cities will enjoy the JIO Welcome Offer which offers unlimited 5G data without paying any extra cost. In India, the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro received the Android 13 QPR2 Beta 2 update, which added 5G support. However, according to a recent report by 9to5 Google, these phones are only compatible with the first 3GPP 5G standard, Release 15, which was introduced in 2018, and not with the latest standards, including Release 16 by Qualcomm, which was released in 2021.
The Pixel 7 series uses Samsung's Exynos 5300 modem, which currently only supports Release 15. However, Samsung has stated that it can support Release 16, and the Pixel 7 series may receive an update to this standard later this year. Release 16 is better than Release 15 in terms of coverage, capacity, latency, power, mobility, and reliability.

Weeks after India launches its 5G services, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that India has launched its indigenously developed 5G infrastructure and it can be provided to other countries as well.&nbsp;
During an interaction with students at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, the minister said the story of India&rsquo;s 5G is yet to reach the public. The 5G that we've launched in our country is completely standalone.&nbsp;
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that some of the parts in the 5G technology could be from South Korea but not from anybody else. She added that the technology is indigenous and that India is ready to share it with countries who want it.
The 5G services were recently launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in select Indian cities and are likely to cover the entire nation by 2024, she said.

As all eyes are on the rollout of 5G services in the country, Vodafone Idea is still facing trouble in finalising deals for 5G equipment supplies and tower tenancies with vendors.

The cabinet claims that the 5G network's speed will be around 10 times greater than those of the current 4G services.
A total of 72097.85 MHz of spectrum with a 20-year validity will be placed up for auction by the end of July 2022.&nbsp;
The cabinet also stated that, for the first time, successful bidders are not required to make an advance payment. Spectrum payments can be made in 20 equal annual instalments, payable in advance at the start of each year. The bidders would have the option to surrender the spectrum after ten years with no obligation to pay any remaining balance instalments.
