Monsoon session: 25 MPs tested positive for Covid-19

At least 25&nbsp;MPs and more than 50 employees of Parliament have tested positive for COVID-19. Here's a report.

Monsoon session: 17 MPs tested positive for Covid-19

At least 25 members of the Parliament from many parties tested positive before the beginning of the Monsoon Session.
Reports said 17 lawmakers from the Lok&nbsp;Sabha&nbsp;and 8 MPs&nbsp;from the Rajya&nbsp;Sabha&nbsp;have tested positive.&nbsp;
The government has made it mandatory for the lawmakers to test negative for the deadly coronavirus to attend the session. 4000&nbsp;people including the MPs were tested before the 18-day session began on Monday.&nbsp;
According to the report, 12 of the total infected Lok&nbsp;Sabha&nbsp;MPs are from the&nbsp;Bharatiya&nbsp;Janata&nbsp;Party,&nbsp;whereas 2 are from YSR&nbsp;Congress and one each are from&nbsp;the&nbsp;Shiv&nbsp;Sena, DMK and&nbsp;Rashtriya&nbsp;Loktantrik&nbsp;Party.&nbsp;

MPs were seen wearing masks and maintaining social distancing as the 18-day Monsoon Session kicked off on Monday.

MPs paid tributes to former President Pranab Mukherjee, legendary Indian classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj, ex-Chhattisgarh CM Ajit Jogi, MP Governor Lalji Tandon, UP Ministers Kamal Rani &amp; Chetan Chauhan and ex-union minister Rahguvansh Prasad Singh &amp; others who passed away this year. The Lok Sabha was adjourned for an hour after the tributes on the first day of the Monsoon Session. MPs were seen wearing masks and maintaining social distancing as the 18-day Monsoon Session kicked off on Monday.

Parliament starts today under strict Covid norms

Parliament is fully prepared for the 18-day Monsoon Session from Monday under the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic with many firsts, including sitting of the two Houses in shifts without any off day, entry only to those having a negative Covid-19 report and compulsory wearing of masks.&nbsp;In run-up to the session, while over 4,000 people including MPs and staff have been tested for virus, most parliamentary operations have been digitalized, entire premises&nbsp;sanitised&nbsp;and doors made touch-free.&nbsp;The first-of-its-kind Monsoon Session will see Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha sitting in two different shifts, while special seating arrangements have been made for MPs in adherence to social distancing guidelines.&nbsp;Barring on the first day, Rajya Sabha will convene in morning shift from 9 am till 1 pm, and Lok Sabha in evening shift from 3 pm to 7 pm. The chambers of both houses along with their respective galleries will be used for sitting of the members in each shift.&nbsp;In between the two shifts, the entire complex will be&nbsp;sanitised.&nbsp;Frequent&nbsp;sanitisation&nbsp;of the entire parliament complex will also be carried out, while arrangements have been made to&nbsp;sanitise&nbsp;various parliamentary papers as well as footwear and cars of MPs, officials said.&nbsp;Frisking of people will also make way for touch-less security scanning, while thermal scanning will also be totally touch-free.&nbsp;
