Imran Khan cries Islamophobia, but stays mum on China's Uighur Muslims

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has once again refused to call out China over its treatment of Uighur Muslims, while he goes about beating his chest over Islamophobia in the West.

Khan has emphasised that China's take on the Uighur issue was completely different from what was being reported in the Western media. "Because of our extreme proximity and relationship with China, we actually accept the Chinese version," Imran Khan was quoted as saying by the Dawn newspaper on Thursday.

Last month, when Imran Khan was asked in an interview about his silence on the atrocities on Uighur Muslims in China, he said he is "more concerned about what is happening at the border of his country." Khan, in an interview with HBO Axios, also said he has been talking to Beijing "behind the closed doors" and he has been informed, "this is not the case, according to the Chinese people."

China has been accused of confining over a million Uighur Muslims in mass detention camps in he Xinjiang region.
