Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Hong Kong on Sunday, marching against government-proposed amendments to Hong Kong's extradition law. The amendments make it possible to send criminal suspects to mainland China, where they could face national security charges, and is being widely criticised for compromising the judicial independence of the semi-autonomous Chinese territory. As per police estimates 240,000 people took part in the massive demonstration but organisers say close to million took part.
