One of the most important glaciers of Iceland, Jakobshavn Isbrae is reportedly travelling much more slowly, and its trunk has even begun to thicken and lengthen. It is in fact now advancing toward the ocean instead of retreating farther inland, said European Space Agency. European satellites caught these abrupt changes in behaviour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Researchers maintain that it is still contributing to global sea-level rise, but at a slower rate.
