Mohit Suri's romantic drama "Saiyaara", featuring debutant Ahaan Pandey and actor Aneet Padda, grossed Rs 119 crore in the first three days, the makers said.
The movie, which marks Pandey's big screen debut and a critically-praised turn for Padda, who previously featured in "Big Girls Don't Cry" and Kajol-starrer "Salaam Venky", earned Rs 101.75 (gross) and Rs 84 crore (nett) in India and brought in Rs 17.25 crore from international markets.
Helmed by Mohit Suri of "Ek Villain" and "Aashiqui 2" fame, the movie is produced by Yash Raj Films. Social media is filled with fans reacting strongly to the love story with many crying as the credits roll and some dancing to its songs with their friends.
The film's impressive three-day run at the box office has beat lifetime collection of other debuts of star kids like Alia Bhatt's "Student of the Year" and Jahnvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar's "Dhadak", which earned Rs 70 crore and Rs 73 crore (lifetime). Pandey is Chunky Pandey's nephew.
"Saiyaara" follows Krish, played by Pandey, an ambitious musician, and Vaani, played by Padda, a shy lyricist recovering from heartbreak. The chemistry of the lead pair, built through soulful songwriting sessions and raw emotional moments, is the heart of the film, reads the official logline.
"Saiyaara" opened with Rs 22 crore, earned Rs 26.25 crore on day two and it has made Rs 35.75 crore on day three according to Yash Raj Films in the domestic box office amounting to 84 crore. In the international box office, the film has made Rs 17.25 crore.
It is also Suri's highest opening among his other films -- "Ek Villain" earned Rs 16 crore on day one, "Aashiqui 2" made over Rs 6 crore and "Murder 2" earned almost 7 crore on the first day of their release. The film is the first and only romance movie to gross over Rs 100 crore in its opening weekend.
The film is among the highest grossing opening weekend alongside films like Vicky Kaushal's "Chhava" (Rs 122.43 crore), Salman Khan's "Sikandar" (Rs 90.25 crore) and Akshay Kumar's ensemble comedy "Housefull 5" (Rs 91.83 crore).
Yash Raj Films have requested exhibitors to not hike ticket prices in order to keep them accessible for the youth supporting the film.
The production house has kept both Pandey and Padda away from the promotions of the film.
The music of "Saiyaara", which features seven songs composed by Mithoon, Sachet-Parampara, Tanishk Bagchi, Rishabh Kant, Vishal Mishra, Faheem Abdullah and Arslan Nisami, is already a chartbuster.
Alongside Pandey and Padda, the romance also stars Geeta Agarwal, Rajesh Kumar, Varun Badola and Shaad Randhawa in key roles.&nbsp;

Marvel is set to recast characters in its upcoming X-Men franchise and Tony Stark, a character that became synonymous with Robert Downey Jr in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Kevin Feige, chief of Marvel Studios, has confirmed that the company has decided to recast the actors following the events in the &ldquo;Avengers: Secret Wars", slated to release in December 2027.
Many actors from the previous "X-Men" films, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Kelsey Grammer, are, however, reprising their roles in "Avengers: Doomsday". It will release in 2026.
"We&rsquo;re utilizing that not just to round out the stories we&rsquo;ve been telling post-&lsquo;Endgame (2019),&rsquo; just as importantly &mdash; and you can look at the &lsquo;Secret Wars&rsquo; comics for where that takes you &mdash; it very, very much sets us up for the future. &lsquo;Endgame,&rsquo; literally, was about endings. &lsquo;Secret Wars&rsquo; is about beginnings," he told reporters, according to Variety.
Feige said the MCU&rsquo;s first X-Men movie, to be directed by "Thunderbolts" director Jake Schreier, will be a &ldquo;reset,&rdquo; not a &ldquo;reboot&rdquo; of the MCU.
"Reboot is a scary word. Reboot can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Reset, singular timeline &mdash; we&rsquo;re thinking along those lines. &lsquo;X-Men&rsquo; is where that will happen next," he said.
He gave a reference of Amazon MGM&rsquo;s film producers searching for new actors to essay the role of James Bond and the recently released "Superman", as he spoke of replacement.
"Amy Pascal and David Heyman are now searching for a new James Bond. David (Corenswet), the new Superman &mdash; he was awesome. That will always be the case," he said.
Feige mentioned actors Downey Jr and Chris Evans, who have retired from their MCU characters and said it becomes difficult to replace an actor who has done commendable work but it's not impossible. Downey Jr's Tony Stark aka Iron Man dies at the end of "Avengers: Endgame" while Captain America chose retirement.
&ldquo;I think it&rsquo;s hard for anybody to do that when an actor has done such a great role,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;How are they going to ever replace Sean Connery (as James Bond), right," he added.

A new documentary by National Geographic will pay homage to legendary director Steven Spielberg&rsquo;s "Jaws", celebrating the 50th anniversary of one of the most iconic films in cinematic history.
Titled "Jaws@ 50: The Definitive Inside Story", the 90-minute documentary is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Laurent Bouzereau and will air on National Geographic on July 20 at 10 pm.
The film takes viewers on a deep dive into the making and legacy of "Jaws", the 1975 film that not only launched Steven Spielberg&rsquo;s career but also sparked a global fascination with sharks.
"Jaws" became a sensation after it was released in US theatres on June 20, 1975 and was universally praised for its masterful suspense, Spielberg&rsquo;s groundbreaking direction, and music composer John Williams&rsquo; unforgettable score.
The movie, which featured an ensemble cast of Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gary and Murray Hamilton, became the first true summer blockbuster, setting new standards in filmmaking.
"Jaws@ 50: The Definitive Inside Story" is produced by Spielberg's Amblin Documentaries and Nedland Films in association with Wendy Benchley and Laura Bowling.
It is the only authorised feature marking the blockbuster&rsquo;s 50th anniversary and includes never-before-seen footage from the personal archives of Spielberg and "Jaws" author Peter Benchley, along with rare outtakes, home videos and candid interviews with cast members, crew, and leading shark conservationists.
"If someone had told me 50 years ago that we would be celebrating this anniversary, I would have thought they were as crazy as the making of &lsquo;Jaws&rsquo; was making me, but here we are, half a century later," Spielberg said in a statement.
He added that the documentary by Bouzereau is the most honest telling of the making of "Jaws".
"Starting with how excited I was to be chosen in the first place to get to direct a film based on Peter Benchley&rsquo;s blockbuster book, but it also details how young and unprepared all of us were for the challenges of shooting in the Atlantic Ocean with a mechanical shark that was more temperamental than any movie star I have ever worked with since, and how in the wake of running over schedule and budget, I truly believed that &lsquo;Jaws&rsquo; would be the last movie I would ever be given to direct," the 78-year-old filmmaker said.
Spielberg also paid tribute to the local community of Martha&rsquo;s Vineyard, where the film was shot.
"I was so lucky that so many of the parts, the roles, in the film were played by islanders, were played by locals, who gave &lsquo;Jaws&rsquo; an authenticity that remains one of my favourite things about the entire film &hellip; &lsquo;Jaws&rsquo; &nbsp;and the Vineyard are forever linked in the best possible way," he added.
Alok Jain, President - Entertainment, JioStar, said "Jaws" has been a global phenomenon that has captivated audiences for 50 years.

Prepping for an action movie is becoming increasingly more challenging with each passing year, month and day, says superstar Salman Khan, who terms his next feature one of the most "physically demanding" projects of his career.
Salman, who will turn 60 in December this year, is pouring his heart and soul into "Battle of Galwan" directed by Apoorva Lakhia of "Shootout at Lokhandwala" fame.
The much anticipated war drama is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley conflict between India and China.
"It is physically demanding. Every year, every month, every day it gets more and more difficult. I've to give more time now (for training). Earlier, I would do it (train) in one or two weeks, now I'm running, kicking, punching, and all that stuff. This film demands that," Salman told PTI.
"For instance, in 'Sikandar' the action was different, the character was different. But this is physically difficult. Besides, shooting in Ladakh, in high altitude and in cold water (is another challenge)," he added.
The actor said the team will be heading to Ladakh later this month for a shooting schedule.
"When I was signing the film, I thought it's amazing but it's a very, very difficult film to do. I've 20 days (of work) in Ladakh and then seven to eight days (of shoot) in cold water. We will be shooting this month," he added.
According to the makers, the film is based on one of India&rsquo;s most brutal battles, fought at over 15,000 feet above sea level without a single bullet being fired.
Twenty Indian Army personnel laid down their lives in the Galwan valley clashes in June 2020 that marked the most serious military conflicts between India and China in decades.
"Battle of Galwan" will not have the traditional Eid release, a date often associated with Khan's films, but instead arrive in theatres in January, Salman said.
The actor also confirmed that a sequel to his 2015 movie "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" is in the works.
"I liked that movie (first of the film). It will kind of have the same theme and emotional beat. But it will be a different film," Salman said about the film, which completes 10 years on Thursday.
The Kabir Khan-directed movie was about a Lord Hanuman devotee who embarks on a mission to reunite a mute Pakistani girl with her family across the border.
The actor, a cycling and biking enthusiast, was speaking on the sidelines of a press event for season two of Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL). He is the brand ambassador of ISRL.
"I've always been a rider, from cycles to motorbikes, I've loved them all. Though I don't get to ride as often now," the actor said but cautioned fans against racing on the roads.

When there are two differing points of view, you need to sit down and resolve issues through conversation, actor Ajay Devgn said on Friday while responding to the controversy surrounding Diljit Dosanjh&rsquo;s film "Sardaar Ji 3", which has drawn criticism for featuring Pakistani star Hania Aamir.
The Punjabi film courted a huge controversy last month after Dosanjh shared the trailer of "Sardaar Ji 3", which made its debut in overseas territories on June 27 and skipped release in India.
Many social media users have called for a ban on Dosanjh, while politicians and trade unions like the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) and the Federation of Western lndia Cine Employees (FWICE) have criticised the Punjabi actor-musician for collaborating with Aamir in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack.
"I don&rsquo;t know where the trolling comes from (or) what is right and what is wrong. I&rsquo;m not in his shoes to comment on that. He would&rsquo;ve had his problems, and people are thinking from their point of view.
"So, when you've two different points of view, then you can sit and solve it out together. I'll not blame anybody or say that, this is right or wrong; they need a conversation," Devgn told reporters at the trailer launch press conference of &ldquo;Son of Sardaar 2&rdquo;.
At the event, Devgn was also asked about the ongoing language row in Maharashtra. The controversy started after the Maharashtra government made it compulsory for state-run primary schools to teach Hindi as a third language, apart from English and Marathi.
"The only answer I&rsquo;ll give you about the language thing which is going on is &lsquo;Aata Maaji Satakli&rsquo;,&rdquo; Devgn said, referring to the popular dialogue from his hit "Singham" franchise.
The &ldquo;Raid 2&rdquo; actor said he is thrilled about returning to the comedy genre after six years with &ldquo;Son of Sardaar 2&rdquo;.
&ldquo;I didn&rsquo;t realise I&rsquo;m doing comedy after six years, but it was a lot of fun doing this film. The script was very funny. When we decided to do &lsquo;Son of Sardaar 2&rsquo;, the important thing was that the humour quotient had to be more than the first part, and we are glad we cracked that kind of a script,&rdquo; Devgn said.
&ldquo;Son of Sardaar&rdquo; was helmed by Ashwni Dhir and starred Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha as well as Mukul Dev, who died in May this year at the age of 54.
The first part revolved around Jaswinder "Jassi" Singh Randhawa (Devgn), who returns to his village in Punjab after spending years in London to sell ancestral property. But things take an unexpected turn.
In the trailer of the upcoming sequel, Devgn's character is seen mimicking Sunny Deol's character from &ldquo;Border&rdquo; in one of the sequences.
&ldquo;He is my neighbour. When we were young, Bobby and I were growing up together, and Sunny paaji was someone whom we respected and looked up to. We still talk about the punch he gives on screen; nobody can beat him,&rdquo; the actor said.
Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, "Son of Sardaar 2" also stars Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Mrunal Thakur, Chunky Panday, Vindu Dara Singh, Deepak Dobriyal, Ashwini Kalsekar, Kubbra Sait, Roshni Walia, and Sharat Saxena.

The Forest Rights Act is primarily known for protecting the land rights of tribal communities, but it is also benefiting several other groups, covering a wider section of society, in Goa, a senior official has said.
Ajay Ramchandra Gaude, state nodal officer for the implementation of the Act in the coastal state, said that of the 10,136 claims they have received, more than 4,000 have been made by &lsquo;Other Forest Dwellers' (OTFDs).
The Goa government under Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced that it will clear all land claims filed under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, popularly known as the Forest Rights Act, before December 19.
Gaude told PTI Videos that most of the claims have been received from the talukas of Canacona and Dharbandora in South Goa and Sattari in North Goa.
In Sattari, of the 2,460 claims settled so far, only 46 belong to members of the Scheduled Tribe community, while 2,414 have been filed by those from non-ST groups. As far as claims filed by groups as a single entity, no such requests have come from the ST community. However, 22 similar claims have been filed by OTFDs, he said.
According to the official, anybody belonging to any community, caste, or any religion can put in their claims if they live in the forest and depend on forest produce for sustenance.
In Dharbandora taluka, of the 1,704 claims settled, 761 are of tribals, 964 are non-ST beneficiaries. Of the 73 community claims in this taluka, 26 are of ST beneficiaries and 47 are from non-ST groups, the official said.
Gaude said the Forest Rights Act was brought in to help those living in forest areas for years and depending on forest produce.
&ldquo;So, the Forest Rights Act is basically for everyone. There is a misconception that the Forest Rights Act is only for the tribal community. It is not so,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;It&rsquo;s not just the tribal community that is benefiting under the Act. Through these forest rights claims, we are giving &lsquo;sanads&rsquo; (certificates giving right over land) to different communities in the state of Goa,&rdquo; he said.
However, the scene is different in the Canacona taluka, where all the 2,450 individuals whose claims are being settled belong to the ST community.
Vishant Ranganath Khandeparkar, a resident of Codli village in Dharbandora taluka, said his forefathers cultivated their land for more than 100 years.
&ldquo;After them, I am continuing it. Through the Act, we have got the sanad. The government and the forest department have done a good job,&rdquo; said the non-ST beneficiary.
Babita Nagesh Lambor, another non-tribal claimant and resident of Collem village in Dharbandora taluka, said they have been living in forest areas for over a century.
&ldquo;Earlier, we used to grow rice, sugarcane, cashewnut, coconut, and much more. We have got the sanad from the government and subsequently received benefits from the Agriculture Department,&rdquo; she said.

New Delhi, Jul 22 (PTI) &ndash; Esteemed filmmaker Rakesh Roshan recently shared a significant health update on his Instagram account, revealing that both his carotid arteries, crucial for blood supply to the brain, were found to be "above 75 per cent blocked".
The 75-year-old actor-director posted an insightful message alongside a photograph from his hospital stay, reassuring fans that he is now back home and has fully recovered. "This week has been truly eye opening," Roshan stated, reflecting on his experience. "During a routine full body check-up, the doctor conducting the heart sonography suggested I also undergo one for my neck. By chance, we discovered that although asymptomatic, both my carotid arteries to the brain were dangerously blocked," he wrote on Instagram.
Roshan emphasized the severity of the condition if left unchecked, describing it as potentially very dangerous. "I immediately admitted myself to the hospital and underwent the necessary preventative procedures. I am now home, fully recovered, and I look forward to resuming my workouts soon," he added, hoping to motivate others to prioritize their health, especially concerning the heart and brain.
The filmmaker, who is the proud father of Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan, advised regular scans for individuals over 45, such as heart CTs and carotid artery sonographies, which he noted are often overlooked.
