PV Sindhu: Indian star drops five places to World No. 17 in latest BWF rankings

Indian badminton star PV Sindhu has dropped five places and is now ranked 17 in the latest BWF world rankings.

After returning from a lengthy injury break, Sindhu has struggled to find consistent form and secure titles this season. With 49,480 points from 14 tournaments, this is Sindhu's lowest ranking in over a decade since January 2013 when she was also ranked 17th.

She had consistently been inside the top 10 since 2016 and achieved a career-best world number 2 in April of that year.

Sindhu will be aiming to regain her form during the Olympic qualification period, which concludes in April next year. She recently acquired the services of Indonesian coach Muhammad Hafiz Hashim, a former All England champion, to assist her.

Despite the challenges, Sindhu's strong performances in tournaments such as the Madrid Spain Masters, where she reached the final, indicate her potential for a comeback.
