Sunrisers Hyderabad inflicted a heavy defeat on Delhi Capitals in the season's first game in the national capital on Saturday.

As has become tradition in 2024, SRH got off to a lofty start, courtesy their destructive opening pair, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma.

Sharma-Head stitched up a 131-run partnership for the first wicket, amassing 100 of those runs in just five overs.

Addressing the press after the game, DC assistant coach Pravin Amre lauded the SRH batters for their aggressive approach while also achieving a world record with their batting.

But in the same breath, he also praised Kuldeep Yadav for slowing down the carnage with his 3 quick, successive wickets within the first 10 overs.

'But yes, Kuldeep (Yadav, Delhi spinner), it was tremendous to pull back and I think we also saw like Jake (Fraser-McGurk), how he can bat in his innings. I personally feel like if it had been two more overs then we would have had more chances, because the way he was batting in his innings, he got seven sixes. I think that's something remarkable as a batsman.'

Australian recruit James Fraser-McGurk completed his half-century in a mere 15 balls, eclipsing Sharma-Head for the fastest fifty of the season. The youngster has had an impressive debut run for DC so far with 140 runs in just 3 matches.
