Rohit Sharma lashes out at Star Sports for 'breaching his privacy' during IPL 2024

IPL 2024 may be at its business end but a controversy erupted just a week before the final. An angry Rohit Sharma on Sunday lashed out at Star Sports for 'breaching his privacy' during the tournament.

Rohit took to social media platform X and wrote, "The lives of cricketers have become so intrusive that cameras are now recording every step and conversation we are having in privacy with our friends and colleagues, at training or on match days."

"Despite asking Star Sports to not record my conversation, it was and was also then played on air, which is a breach of privacy. The need to get exclusive content and focused only on views and engagement will one day break the trust between the fans, cricketers and cricket," the Mumbai Indians player concluded.

After KKR beat MI, a video of the former Mumbai Indians captain went viral where Rohit was having a conversation with Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach Abhishek Nayar.

Rohit was heard saying, “Ek ek cheez change ho raha hai... . Woh unke upar hai, main ye sab pe dhyaan nahi data... (Everything is changing one by one. It depends on them, I don't care about that)." Though the video was quickly removed, it went viral by then.

In another such incident, Rohit was seen chatting with former MI pacer Dhawal Kulkarni and few others ahead of Mumbai's final game in IPL 2024.

However, this time the Hitman urged the cameraman to mute the audio. But that video too came out where Rohit was heard requesting with folded hands, “Bhai, audio band karo haan. Kasam se, ek audio ne mera waat laga diya (Please stop the audio recording. One audio has already landed me in a lot of trouble).”

Though not confirmed, Rohit's outburst on social media might be in reference to these videos.
