BCCI's new guidelines for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The build-up to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is generating significant buzz, especially for the Indian cricket team. Following their runners-up finish in 2017, India is eager to redeem themselves after a challenging 3-1 series loss to Australia. The recent clean sweep against England at home has boosted their confidence.

As per reports from Cricbuzz, the BCCI has introduced new, stringent guidelines that will first be enforced during this mega event. These guidelines cover various aspects such as travel, practice protocols, and the presence of family members. A formal SOP has been distributed, highlighting non-negotiable rules that the players must adhere to. A key clause requires all players to attend the entire duration of scheduled practice sessions and mandates traveling together, emphasizing team commitment and work ethic.

The PTI news agency reported that players must now cover their expenses if they require exceptions to these new rules. For instance, family members and partners are unlikely to accompany them on this tour, given its short duration. This policy has been communicated to the players as a strict BCCI decision.

The changes are not limited to family travel. Players can no longer request private vehicles for practice commutes. Additionally, restrictions are in place on the personal staff accompanying players, with some being relegated to different accommodations.

The BCCI has also encouraged players to participate in domestic cricket during international breaks. Prominent players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and others have represented their domestic teams recently, aligning with this directive.

Overall, these guidelines mark a significant shift in the BCCI's approach, emphasizing discipline, unity, and the fostering of a robust team culture as India focuses on success in the Champions Trophy 2025.
