Coronavirus in India Live Updates: HC slams Kejriwal govt over black marketing of Oxygen cylinder

India logged over 3 lakh new Covid cases for the fifth straight day. 3.23 lakh new infections, 2,771 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data on Tuesday morning.

Amid an Oxygen crisis, the Delhi High Court said the AAP government's entire system has failed as black marketing of oxygen cylinders and crucial medicines for treating Covid-19 patients is going on. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said the national capital will get more facilities, will add add 1,200 ICU beds by May 10. Also, the Delhi govt has decided to import 18 tankers of Oxygen from Bangkok and 21 ready-to-use Oxygen plants from France

The Centre said that consignment of containers for the transportation of medical oxygen has arrived from Thailand. The home ministry said, the IAF is also to transport oxygen containers from Singapore on Tuesday.

The Supreme Court allowed opening of Sterlite plant in Tamil Nadu to produce oxygen. Terming the massive resurgence of Covid-19 cases a "national crisis", the apex court said it cannot remain a mute spectator.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) banned all victory processions on or after vote counting on May 2 in view of the rise in Covid-19 cases

A shipment of vital medical supplies from the United Kingdom, including 100 ventilators & 95 oxygen concentrators, arrived in India earlier this morning.
