      World Television Day is celebrated on November 21 every year. The day aims at creating awareness about the role television plays in delivering information far and wide. According to the United Nations, the number of TV households across the world will rise from 1.63 million in 2017 to 1.74 billion by 2023.

      The first World Television Forum took place on November 21 in 1996 and the United Nations General Assembly chose this day to mark World Television Day.

      The television was invented by American scientist John Logie Baird in the year 1927 but it took 7 years to get it completely ready. After it was introduced in the year 1934, it reached India for the first time in 1950. Later, on 15 September 1959, Doordarshan was established as a government broadcaster.
