Oxford Dictionary joins the K-craze by adding 26 Korean words to it

From sumptuous Korean food to the sensational BTS to famous drama series like Squid Game, the Korean creative wave, also known as Hallyu has affected people the world over in some way or another.

Now the same wave has seemed to hit the editors of the Oxford English Dictionary, who have added 26 Korean words to its latest edition.

Some of the words out of the 26 that have been included are:

Skinship: The word, Skinship captures the emotions and bond between two people.

Hallyu: The word, Hallyu indicates the increasing interest in South Korea and its culture represented through music, film and television.

Mukbang: The word, Mukbang refers to a video of a person eating lots of food while interacting with the audience.

Aegyo: The word, Aegyo refers to behaviour that is seemingly cute and adorable.

Hanbok: The word, Hanbok is the traditional Korean dress consisting of a long-sleeved jacket and a long high-waisted skirt for women and loose trousers for men.

The addition of Korean words into the Oxford English Dictionary marks the shift in the language used by English speakers. It also marks the ever-growing popularity of Korean culture the world over.
