Monsoon care: From cotton clothes to proper skincare, tips to beat humidity challenges this rainy season

Monsoons bring respite from the scorching summer days but humidity can be a mood dampener. Here are some strategies which can help you embrace the beauty of the season while staying irritation-free.

Monsoon care: From cotton clothes to proper skincare, tips to beat humidity challenges this rainy season

The long-awaited monsoon has finally arrived, rescuing us from the scorching summer heat. The sky, draped in a blanket of clouds, brings much needed relief. The gentle pattering of rain drops becomes our favourite bringing cosy moments with tea, fritters, hot snacks, and meaningful conversations with loved ones.

Discomfort of humidity

Amid the joy of rain, there's a challenge which is the discomfort of increased humidity. The dampness can be annoying, making clothes and skin feel heavy and sticky. This rise in humidity also triggers the skin's oil production, leading to clogged pores. To enjoy the monsoon fully, it's essential to navigate around these challenges and stay irritation-free.

Mastering monsoon fashion with ease

It's better to ditch denim and tight-fitting clothes during the monsoon. Choosing lighter clothing is crucial during this season. Fabrics like cotton and linen are breathable and prevent clothes from becoming sticky with moisture. Opting for loose attire enhances comfort by allowing air circulation and minimising sweat accumulation. Wearing a cotton camisole beneath clothes also creates a barrier that reduces stickiness and discomfort.

Monsoon skincare

Skin care demands extra attention in humid weather. Increased oil secretion can lead to acne. Opt for oil-free, non-comedogenic moisturisers. Regular cleansing helps to keep pores clear. Regular exfoliation is recommended to remove dead skin cells and prevent pore blockages. Maintaining hygiene by showering daily and changing into fresh clothes helps to combat stickiness and maintain skin health.

Hygiene extends beyond skincare to include clothing care. Hair care is equally important. Regular shampooing prevents oily buildup that can attract dust and lead to scalp discomfort. Hydrating is equally essential but particularly crucial in the monsoon to flush out toxins and regulate body temperature amid the humidity.

Despite the challenges, monsoon brings joy. By taking the right steps to manage humidity issues, one can enjoy the season without compromising on comfort.
