Love in Paris: Iconic marriage proposals during Olympics 2024

Paris Olympics 2024 will go down in the books for many reasons. Athletes weren’t just wearing medals. They wore their hearts on their sleeves. Love was in the air as the recently concluded Olympics broke record for most marriage proposals.

French athlete Alice Finot proposed to her Spanish boyfriend after breaking the European record for the 3000m steeplechase event. She may not have won any medal, but Alice did get a yes from the love of her life.

Huang Yaqiong won China’s first gold medal in badminton and an engagement ring. Her boyfriend and fellow Chinese shuttler Liu Yuchen got down on his knees and popped up the big question right after the medal ceremony.

It was double the celebration for the France’s ‘Mama Team’ duo. Sarah Steyaert and Charline Picon received marriage proposals from their respective partners after their bronze win.
Justin Best knows how to row and romance. He won the first gold medal in rowing for US and to make it even more iconic, the US Olympian proposed to his girlfriend with 2,738 yellow roses in front of the Eiffel Tower.

American shot putter Payton Otterdahl also chose to propose next to the Eiffel Tower. He got down on his knee with a ring before getting a yes from girlfriend Maddy Nilles.

Argentinian handball player Pablo Simonet proposed to Maria Campoy, Argentinian field hockey player as their teams were posing together for a group picture with Seine river in the backdrop.
Brazilian athlete Almir dos Santos failed to secure a medal during the men’s triple jump final but took a big leap by proposing to his girlfriend Talita Ramos.

Pride in Paris was in full bloom with three-time Olympian Alev Kelter seizing the opportunity to go down on one knee to propose to girlfriend and fellow rugby player Kathryn Treder after the bronze medal win at Olympics.

Alessia Maurelli, the Italian gymnast, received a marriage proposal from her boyfriend Massimo Bertelloni right after receiving the bronze medal at the Olympics Games Paris 2024.
