5 Indian dance forms that boost mental and physical health

Bharatnatyam

One of the most popular dance forms in India is Bharatnatyam. It originated in Tamil Nadu and involves intricate footwork, facial expressions, and hand gestures. Practising this dance improves flexibility, posture, and balance.

Kathak

Kathak originated in Northern India and helps improve cardiovascular health, increase flexibility, and strengthen core muscles. It also helps to improve concentration and memory.

Odissi

Odissi originated in the eastern state of Odisha and is known for its graceful movements, fluid postures, and elaborate expressions. Practicing Odissi promotes joint flexibility, core strength, and posture alignment. It also reduces stress and helps in mental relaxation.

Kuchipudi

Kuchipudi, from the state of Andhra Pradesh, enhances agility, endurance, and muscle strength. Its expressive movements and emotive storytelling can also boost mood, creativity, and self-expression.

Kathakali
