Why Nawazuddin Siddiqui shouldn't have commented on depression?

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui yet again said that depression does not exist in villages. And social media users are saying that actors like him should not speak about all such issues

Why Nawazuddin Siddiqui shouldn't have commented on depression?

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently called depression is an urban issue. And within days of his statement getting viral, he doubled down on it and said people in the city glorify their emotions.

He further said that nobody has depression in his village, and there is no such thing as depression there. But the data from his state suggests otherwise:

Well, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is from Budhana village in Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh. And, as per the National Crime Records Bureau of India's 2014 data, 1.6% of farmer suicides were alone registered in Uttar Pradesh. Other than this, 3.6% of suicide took place in Uttar Pradesh from 2017 to 2021.

The Badlapur actor has been drawing massive flak on the internet over his statement and people said that he should just stick to acting. Some said that actors like him who have not faced mental health problems should refrain from commenting on such issues.

Speaking of actors talking about mental health issues, actors like Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan, and Anushka Sharma, among others have several times mentioned how they went through depression and the way it took a toll on them. These celebrities are also major shareholders in making people aware of mental health issues.

So, it is for you to decide whether celebrities should talk about mental health issues or not.
