Study suggests kindness may help cure depression

Helping others is an act of kindness and a recent study suggests that this also helps cure depression and anxiety. 

Published in the Journal of Positive Psychology, a recent report stated that maintaining social connection and performing acts of kindness is the best way to keep away anxiety and depression.

The study was conducted on 122 people who had symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress.

For the study, participants were divided into three groups in which two of them performed cognitive behavioural therapy and the third group performed acts of kindness.

All three groups showed satisfactory results after five weeks. However, the acts of kindness group showed greater improvements and experienced fewer depression or anxiety symptoms.
