Keto diet, intermittent fasting, gluten-free diet, and what-not; but have you ever heard of a longevity diet? Well, the term says it all.

A longevity diet assures an extended life span. This diet has been targeted for older adults and younger people.

The longevity diet is based on the recommendation followed by Biochemist, Valter Longo, Director of the University of South California. He says that he plans to live upto 120 years by following this diet.

How is longevity diet followed?

This diet contains vegetables including leafy greens, olive oil, nuts, beans, fruits, and seafood that is low in mercury. Most of the food is plant-based which are generally higher in vitamins and minerals, dietary fiber antioxidants, and lower in saturated fat and salt which are beneficial to our health.

People who don’t want to give up on dairy products can switch to goat or sheep milk.
Fermented dairy such as cheese and yogurt are recommended. Therefore, excess meat and dairy products which are high in processed sugar and saturated fats are discouraged in this diet.

Also, the diet recommends taking multivitamins and mineral supplements every three to four days. This prevents malnourishment and won't cause any nutritional problems.

Well we all know that eating healthy and including physical activity in our daily lives are key to healthy and long life. So, incorporate healthy habits even if you don't want to give a name to your diet.
