Summer season calls for mangoes. However, intake of anything in excessive amounts can lead to bad health. Notably, there are severe side effects of eating too many mangoes.

What are the symptoms of mango-induced infection?

The symptoms of mango-induced infection are gastronomical infections, runny nose, and sneezing allergy, among others. Other than this, it can also cause diarrhoea and stomach pain.

If you want to enjoy mangoes this season but want to keep infection at bay, then keep these tips in mind:

4 tips to prevent mango-induced infection

  • Do not eat mangoes while having a meal as it can make you consume more calories
  • Soak mangoes in water for at least 2 hours before consuming it as it lowers the pesticide content in the fruit
  • Eat them in small portions as they won't be harmful and will fulfil the need for dietary fibre in your body
  • If you feel sick after eating mangoes, immediately consult a doctor

It is also worth taking note that the infections caused by mangoes are relatively rare but it can happen if the mangoes are contaminated. Health experts say that this fruit 'can become contaminated with bacteria such as Salmonella or E. coli if they come into contact with fecal matter from animals, contaminated water or unsanitary handling practices during harvesting, processing or transportation.
