From nausea to upper body pain, 5 signs of 'silent heart attack'

While we all know the common signs of heart attack, some silent symptoms are trying to tell you that your body needs attention. Be it unexplained fatigue or nausea, there are many silent symptoms that you may not have been paying attention to. In recent years, many young and middle-aged people have also become victims of cardiovascular diseases and that is why it is more important to understand the signs of a silent heart attack.

Signs of silent heart attack

According to reports, almost half of heart attack cases are 'silent' where the main symptoms of heart attack like shortness of breath, chest pain, and dizziness are absent, and hence people do not understand the urgency of the situation.

According to cardiologist Dr Ravinder Singh Rao, some signs of silent heart attack are:

1. Unexplained fatigue

Are you unable to do a task that you usually could do well due to extreme and unexplained fatigue? It might be because your heart has become weak and hence the body is spending more energy to support it.

2. Discomfort in upper body

Another sign of a silent heart attack is discomfort in the upper body including arms, neck, jaw, or back.

3. Shortness of breath

Unexplained and sudden shortness of breath without doing much physical activity can be another sign of a silent heart attack.

4. Nausea

Sometimes persistent nausea accompanied by light-headedness or dizziness could be a sign that your heart function has been compromised.

5. Sweating more than usual

If you have been sweating a lot more than usual and not because of the environment or physical exertion, this may be a sign of underlying cardiovascular issues.
