National Epilepsy Day 2022: Fatima Sana Shaikh raises awareness by sharing these 5 facts

Dangal star Fatima Sana Shaikh recently took part in the Epilepsy Awareness Challenge 2022. She also shared an awareness post about epilepsy disorder on her Instagram account.

Fatima posted a mirror selfie with a caption explaining what epilepsy is and some unknown facts about it.

The caption said that epilepsy is a brain illness that causes recurring, unprovoked seizures due to disturbed nerve cell activity living in the brain. A person is often diagnosed with epilepsy if they have two or more unprovoked seizures. This can also occur as a result of a genetic disorder or a brain injury, but in a lot of cases, the cause is unknown.

1. Epilepsy can be developed in 1 out of 26 people.

2. Epilepsy is mainly of 4 types (focal onset, sec
generalized onset, combination, and unknown)

3. 1 out of 3 people living with epilepsy have
drug-resistant (aka refractory or intractable) epilepsy

4. Anything someone can do when aware, could be done during a seizure with impaired awareness (walking, talking, eating)

5. Seizure trigger can be anything for someone with epilepsy.
